I don't know who's responsible for mistakes like this but I've seen it a few times and it really is a problem

There is nothing higher than maximum, by definition it is the highest possible value.  However, they appear to be sorted from least to most, which would suggest that "Ultra" is higher.  This is both incorrect and confusing and needs to stop.

It's like people asking "Which is the most silent".

Or in my native language - Dutch - we have the word (adjective) 'Enige'. It means 'only'. As in "dat is de enige optie" = "that's the only option".

That's a all great, but most adjectives of course have a 'step up'. Just like you have 'Good - Better - Best'. So people often say "enigste"... Which is like.. 'enige' already says it's the only option... No need to 'step up' the world...

It's just an effect of people not proofreading their stuff or just adding options later in development.

I think that touches on another common issue which, while grammatically questionable, at least doesn't introduce significant confusion.  I'm referring to people who say things like "really unique", "slightly round", etc.  There's times when it feels natural, but the issue those words are absolutes so adding modifiers doesn't make sense.  It's like saying the light is slightly on.

There is probably a name for it, but I have seen a chart in the past that showed ways to avoid vague terms added before adjectives.

E.g., it's not 'really smart', it's 'intelligent'. Etc.

Things like really unique and slightly round could also use a translation like that. For example to 'uncommon' and 'oval' respectively.

These things don't really bother me.. but are just things I will catch when speaking to others. I'm certainly not saying I always use these words perfectly, but when releasing software this should be proof-read..

It just looks stupid to have a speeling mistake in your program.

If Maximum is the most then Ultra must be -1.

Don't ask me how that works but I guess that's how it is.

I'd accept that in a heartbeat over this.  So long as their names seem to make sense in order, I can live with it.  Having something like "best" or "maximum", and then another seemingly higher tier is what I have an issue with.
