  1. please? I'm still really weirded out at this. why would there be a base clock, when it never goes to the base clock?
  2. my motherboard has a GIGABYTE specific technology to make it easier. so I don't know about msi boards. again, you're better off checking other peoples guidelines.
  3. It's better to turn to some youtube videos on this. I'm probably not qualified to teach someone else. and there already are enough probably.
  4. Can you please explain? why would it not sit at base clock when doing absolutely nothing?
  5. same shit happened to me 2 days ago with a 5950x. in my case I simply forgot to do a BIOS update on my x570 mb.
  6. You just have to look up what socket your i3 has, and then if a different cpu uses the same socket, it will fit! in this case your i3-10100 uses a LGA1200. an i7 10700 uses the same socket. so yes it will fit.
  7. Hey everybody! I just built my new PC, and I'm having a weird occurance with my cpu. The cpu is a 5950x, so base clock as 3.4GHz and boost at 4.9GHz. Even when the PC is in idle, literally only the task manager open, utilisation at 1 maybe 2%. and still the cpu sits at 4.2GHz to 4.5GHz. and even just starting something as simple as steam to download something in the background immediately shoots the clock to 4.9GHz. Which also instantly affects my temps. I feel like that's not the way it should be. or is that just me? Thanks in advance!
  8. so, I'm concepting a new PC now. and I'm confused about one of the ports on the GPU. in the specs it's labeled as USB Type C (with virtualink). well, does that mean I could I still use it for a normal USB C (with DisplayPort) Monitor, or does that virtuallink bit somehow prevent that? thanks!
  9. I... just read through the "read before asking" post. guess that answers that. thanks anyway. but ey, here's proof that stupid questions exist. (how do you delete shit?)
  10. Hi everybody! So I just fetched an old PC from the basement, trying to fix it up and salvage it. problem I have is, nothing is happening. like literally not even a single LED is lighting up. nowhere. I already tried the PSU. it works just fine and also the PSU from my own PC doesn't bring any light into the dark. so... the only other option is the mainboard, right? because every other component, if broken, would maybe prohibit a post or some performance issues, but not send the whole thing into the dark ages, would it? (just hoping for confirmation, since I don't have anything else lying around, so the only way for me to find out for real is to actually buy a replacement.) thanks for your time!
  11. would you look at that, seems like one of the memory sticks broke. pulled one out and suddenly it starts up again. thanks so much for walking me through this! you have a great day, sir!
  12. ok, I followed the instructions exactly and at least visually it seems like everything happened like it was supposed to. but unfortunately it also didn't change anything. when it tries to boot it still shows the same post-code sequence.
  13. flipped the switch, still the same post-codes... but I also never flashed a BIOS before. thank you so much for your help.
  14. tried pulling the battery now, but again everything still looks the same after putting it back in.
