He asked another question that is i5 or R5.. For that the R5 is the answer cause it's clear that it has more cores and better clock speed..has hyperthreading and also overclockable
For better or for worse the actual question is What CPU for intensive gaming and My answer is RYZEN as its more cost effective and since future RYZEN chips can be placed in the same socket it can be upgraded easily..rather than buying a new mother board and a processor on intel side and also i7 may give more performance than RYZEN but still its not about getting the highest FPS its about getting the best for the money and in that case RYZEN nailed it.
But you can still do one thing to make sure that it is indeed bad.. Try plugging the HDD into another PC and see the result..If its the same, change the HDD or move out for warranty purpose if it is under warranty.
