  • Location
    under Down Under. Seriously.

Archery, Video games, anything outdoorsy, hardware, software, explodifying things, sharp/dangerous things, HTML, Photoshop, electronics, science and psychology
  • Biography
Tinkering with Nerf blasters to turn them into anti-tank rifles (nearly) was where I started off, and I moved on from there. Smacking bits of hot metal with a hammer was my next big step, then I went on to PC hardware and electronics. Unfortunately, it doesn't involve smacking things with a hammer or shooting pointy things through the air at very fast speeds, but it's still fun. Was this attempt at a biography coherent? Probably not, but I enjoyed writing it.
  • Occupation
PhD in actually thinking before I post my unsupported opinions or advice on the internet, like fact.

  1. I've got no idea. I was trying to run 4G on the work SIM. I might try swapping my personal SIM into position 2, and work SIM into position 1, see if that fixes things. I don't see why that would cause a disconnect, but worth a try.
  2. Ive got a Meizu M3 Note, and have recently added the SIM from my work phone to it in order to use the masses of mobile data my work provides. My phone can use both SIMs, and gets a solid connection, but when I set it so that my work SIM is used for mobile data, it stops receiving a connection via my personal SIM. any idea why this would be happening?
  3. Already tried what was at that link before posting, didn't help. Might try a specialized anti-malware tool.
  4. I have a search engine that has installed itself in Chrome called chromesearch.today that is impossible to remove. I have tried getting rid of every single Chrome-related file, as well as the registry key for it using Malware Bytes, yet it is still there. I have checked the Chrome shortcut target, which is default, so no issue there. Have googled possible solutions and nothing so far has worked. I have little experience removing these sorts of things, and would really appreciate some help. Thanks
  5. Cheers man, seems to have resolved the issue! PS: I think Hackintoshes are just about the coolest PC projects around. What spec PC are you using for it out of interest? Best of luck, and please let me know how it goes
  6. Will give it a go, maybe I changed something inadvertantly. Presuming nothing blows up, I should be back in a minute and will let you know if it has been resolved.
  7. I'm aware that I can't OC on this board, seemed to have started doing it completely randomly.
  8. I'm using a Gigabyte GA-H170-Gaming 3 mothoerboard. Its a skylake board, so fairly new, which doesn't even support overclocking. Are there any other BIOS/UEFI settings which it needs to restart to apply? The only change I've made recently is to enable ErP to stop all my USB peripherals' LEDs from glowing when the PC is off. Could this be the cause?
  9. So my PC has been acting a spot strangely lately... about a week ago, I pressed the power button, and my fans and LEDs all started up for about 2 seconds, then died. My immediate thought was that something had broken i.e. motherboard. After about 3 seconds of no activity, my PC then started up on its own, completely normally. Nothing seems to be different in operation, everything is performing normally as far as I can see. This pattern of start, die, start has now happened consistently every time I start my PC. I would normally have taken it in to get serviced, but since it doesn't seem like anything is really that wrong, I thought I'd try and resolve the problem on my own. Does anybody have any idea what may be causing this?
  10. Just been watching some reviews, I think I would prefer the scroll wheel of the G502, and I like the aesthetics more. Not where I thought I would end up, but glad I discussed it. Thanks for the help!
  11. OK, thanks for clarifying. Just checked pricing on PB Tech, I can get a G502 for $97 ($68.70 US) and a G602 for $68 ($47 US). What do you think I should go for?
  12. By side movement do you mean the scroll wheel has left and right fanning?
  13. Damn, that's a bit dissapointing... don't know anyone personally with one, but the general consensus online seems to be that the battery is phenomenal. Just curious, what's the scroll wheel like? are the steps well defined?
  14. A lot of people have had this concern in the past, modern wireless mice tend to be very reliable performers, and I really want to tidy up the wires on my desk.
