For psu I'd say get an 80+ bronze (or gold if you wanna pay a little more) from EVGA or Corsair. something around 400-500 watts for this build or a 650-750 watt if you want to have room for sli 1080s in the future. If you're just using this for gaming I'd say get a gtx 1070 and spend the extra money on a higher rez and or higher refresh rate monitor because even a 1070 can do 1440p at max settings in most games.
Overkill is just used by people who are bitter they can't afford stuff. Especially when it comes to content creation and 3d software, You can never have too powerful of a PC.
