GigaGilgamesh's Achievements

  1. Currently running a Nvidia 8800 GT and a Pentium G3220. Slowly saving to upgrade these and get back into competitive raiding in FFXIV, but that game runs on a potato. My DREAM is HTC Vive, even though there is VR Junkies in the mall near me where you pay for game time to play the Vive.
  2. I would find an AM3 (or AM3+) Motherboard, and a cheap supporting CPU to go with it. You have the adaptability with upgrading to a much better CPU if you go with an AM3(+) Motherboard in case he wants more power under the hood. Edit: For almost the same price (probably 5-13 Euros more) you can get an FX-4130 and an MSI 760MA-P34.
  3. I did not say it was trustworthy, I only said that it is a good site. As much as I believe Intel > AMD, I think he is going for affordable.
  4. On Newegg: GIGABYTE GA-78LMT-USB3 (rev. 6.0) AMD FX-6300 Vishera 6-Core The Motherboard is ~$50, and the CPU is ~$100. The CPU has almost twice the CPUMark score. Here is the full match-up (and just a good site overall) for what you have vs what I have recommended: http://cpuboss.com/cpus/AMD-FX-6300-vs-AMD-A8-6600K
  5. I would recommend the CPU gets an upgrade. The video card is good for another year or two. Unfortunately it's hard to find an FM2 processor that would beat an A8-6600k, unless you upgrade the Motherboard to an AM3 (or AM3+). You can find an AM3(+) Motherboard and CPU for less than $200 that will last you a great deal longer than the GPU.
