  1. Hey everyone, My friend and I are trying to code an app as practice for our computer science class this year, but we hit a snag unfortunately. We are running Android Studio, coding in Java, and we are running the code on a physical device (One Plus One) with Android 5.02, and API 21. It's probably an extremely simple fix, but we can't seem to find any posts anywhere that we can understand. When we press the home button, the app closes as usual, but when we attempt to reopen the app through recent tasks, the app opens as a black screen and after 5-10 seconds, a "The App is not responding" window opens. There are no errors in the computer output within Android Studio. We have read that doing an onPause(); method and a onResume(); method would work, but we cannot seem to figure out how to get that going. Ideally, we would like the game to continue from where it left off. We would appreciate any help we can get! Thanks! EDIT: Here is an error I am getting: java.lang.NullPointerException: Attempt to invoke virtual method 'void android.graphics.Canvas.drawPaint(android.graphics.Paint)' on a null object reference This is coming from these lines: canvas.drawPaint(paint); and this.gamePanel.draw(canvas); We believe this is because canvas contains a null object now, but we aren't sure.
  2. Hey guys, I am hoping you can help me out! I am new to MySQL and PHP (still learning), and I am trying to figure out a way to incorporate a simple "check" system in my test website to allow the user to go to a section in the website if the value they entered within the "check" field is a value in the MySQL database. I can picture how I need to do it in Java (I am pretty fluent in that), but using this is mind boggling to me. Let me explain it a little bit better. My goal is to have select people given one unique number (4394 for an example), and once they go into a special page on my website, they are given the opportunity to type in the number they are given, sort of like a password. If the value they wrote is in the MySQL database, then they are granted access to the next page. If not, they are brought to a failed page (can literally be anything). The reason I need it to be a database is because the goal is to give many people (1000+) a special number unique to them, while giving me the opportunity to easily add additional numbers for new people. In Java, I would do this through an array which has the values saved as strings in each element, then once the user inputs their number, it would traverse the array and run a simple if statement. If the user input value is equal to a string within an element of the array, then it will break the loop and bring the user to another page. If the user input is not equal to a string within the array, then it would just say "Error". Like I said, I am incredibly new to all of this, so this may very well be the way of doing in MySQL and PHP, but I have no clue. Thanks for any help you can give me!
  3. Hi everyone! I need some help with my aquaero 6XT, but I assume anyone with any aquaero will be able to help me. I'm a new owner of it, so my questions will be very basic. I have 3 Noctua fans in my top radiator, hooked up using the supplied extension and Y cables. I then have another 4 Noctua fans on my bottom radiator, hooked up using the supplied extension and Y cables. I have all this hooked up to 2 different ports (one for the 3 fans, and another for the 4). How do I control the fan's speeds? Right now they're running at 100% and I don't know how to change the speeds... Thanks in advance.
  4. Thanks for your help. It does seem like that may be the issue... It's really unforunate. I can't find anything online about setting up the unit. Anyway, thanks again!
  5. Do you have one of these units? I really wouldn't like to RMA it (just a time thing), but if this isn't near the experience you had the first time, then I will do so. Thanks for your speedy reply!
  6. Hey guys, I'm kind of in a rush, so I'll make this simple. I recently bought an aquaero, and after reading the manual 6 times (it's very short), I still cannot get it to turn on. On the unit itself, I can see a solid red light, which makes me believe the unit is getting power. The only things plugged into it are the molex power connection, 1 temperature sensor (the one that came with it) and the USB connection to the motherboard. The aquasuite does not recognize anything, and the unit's screen doesn't have any lights on, and doesn't boot up. Does anyone know how to get this started? It's driving me up the wall.
  7. I hadn't thought of that, but I just checked and it is not running.
  8. Sorry, I should've mentioned that. It is running the same as well.
  9. I have, yeah. Unfortunately, it is not. All of the reported tasks are normal ones that would be running on idle. The CPU and memory usage meters are, also, all as they would be normally.
  10. Hey everyone! I have an odd problem on both computers I own, one is windows 7 and the other is windows 10 (I will specify which machine is which, and the specs down below). My problem is actually after I play Grand Theft Auto 5. While I am playing, I get a steady smooth 60 fps on medium or low settings (depending on the computer), which is good enough for me. I get no freezing, stutter, or anything like that while I am playing. However, after I close the game, my computer becomes extremely slow. It takes it a good 2 minutes to open another chrome tab. It progressively gets faster over an hour, but never restores to the normal speed until I restart my computer. The resource monitor does not say anything is running abnormally. It is all normal idle values. I know that Grand Theft Auto 5 has some hitches still, but this seems odd. I am just wondering if anyone else is experiencing this, and/or has a fix for the problem. I do a lot of video editing, 3D renders, FumeFX, and Realflow Projects, but I rarely experience lag like this on these computers. SPECS: Windows 7 PC: RAM: 8GB Kingston HyperX White 1866Mhz DDR3 HDD: 1TB Western Digital Black CPU: i5 4690 (Non K), 3.50GHz clock speed GPU: MSI GTX 760 4GB GDDR5 (This plays GTA5 at 60 fps on medium) Windows 10 PC: RAM: 16GB Kingston HyperX Blue 1600MHz DDR3 HDD: 1TB Western Digital Blue CPU: i5 3570k, 3.4GHz clock speed GPU: Zotac GTX 560 1GB GDDR5 (This plays GTA5 at 50-60fps on low) I know quite a bit about computers and the operating systems, so don't worry about dumbing anything down for me to understand. Thanks for all your help!
  11. Hey, Honestly, I am no where near a professional, but I am a student in the same situation as you. I can tell you how I have been doing it and my experiences. I have been selling on Pond5, ShutterStock and my own personal website. Pond5 takes a cut of 15% I believe, which is almost nothing compared to ShutterStock's 35%. They are definitely the largest in the game, hence the large prices. More people go there, so the higher the chances of you making money is there. I also started my own website to sell my photos and videos, and that has kind of gone in both ways. I have made money from my own website, but no where near what I have made on the other websites. It is very hard to drive traffic somewhere you will get 100% of the cut, naturally. Also, in terms of "learning photography", check out a Youtube channel named "DigitalRevTV", they are the largest photography based webshow on the internet. However, they should be supplementary to you just going out and doing it. Only way to get better is to make a whack ton of mistakes and learn from them. Buy a cheaper DSLR (550D, 650D for Canon) with the kit lens, and a $60 tripod from Walmart and just get shooting. Best of luck.
  12. I appreciate your response! I am happy to see people on both sides -- shows me I am not just crazy for debating. Kijiji is like craigslist, sorry. Must be a Canadian thing
  13. Thank you, I'll check that out! That store is about 40 minutes from me.
  14. Just to clarify, he pays me FIRST, then I buy the parts with his money. I should have been more clear, sorry. I am doing soft tubing, but this is my first time doing custom watercooling (I should have mentioned that too). I like the idea of the money, but I am worried I am going to plan this out incorrectly and not meet his standards. It is crazy confusing, but I think I have a finished build.
