  1. right, and if i go for amd, using and amd motherboard, im pretty sure its not the greatest idea to use a 3080 ti on a non intel mobo
  2. are there any big changes from going to AMD from Intel? I seem to remember some game features on AMD arent available like they are on intel. Actually now that I think of it, i do use GSYNC, but thats gpu based. also, i thought id heard ray tracing was only for intel or...something?
  3. yeah its in the original post, "air cooled with a Noctua NH-U12A" I dont think i need another case
  4. yeah the 850 watt psu is working fine as far as i know, there arent any random shutdowns or anything at all. I cant overclock the gpu at all, but i chalked that up to the gpu itself why wouldnt i be overclocking at 13700K?
  5. bought the psu 6 years ago Extra storage, isnt all that needed, i updated the original post. suggestion is a non-K sku?
  6. in order to future proof as much as possible, i mean. I'm not willing to buy something that will be outclassed within the 1st year of owning it, so getting the best as far as possible without regularly upgrading is what it seems the solution is
  7. I have a Samsung 870 evo, and an EVGA 850 watt psu
  8. So, I need a massively high end cpu to upgrade to. *sigh*
  9. Prefer to stay within LGA 1151 unless there is a really compelling reason to change
  10. Prefer to stay within LGA 1151 unless there is a really compelling reason to change
  11. Why are you upgrading?: I want to be able to run 4k, max settings, ray tracing and all the fancy new features/tools/cpu or gpu intensive mods at ideally 90fps, or more, for current and future games at least 3 years into the future. If by some chance I end up talking myself into doing a massive overhaul of my system, then I'd be also looking into liquid cooling the cpu only, as well. Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Immersive, Atmospheric FPS/RPG games. God Of War, Cyberpunk 2077, Starfield, Remnant 2 Budget (including currency): Flexible, but would prefer to not to go above 2000 USD at most. Doesn't mean I can't, though. Country: US Other details Monitors: MY main monitor is an LG C2 Series 42-Inch Class OLED evo with an Acer Predator XB271HU bmiprz 27" WQHD (2560x1440) as a side monitor. It causes some minor issues using two displays at different resolutions, but its tolerable, I don't plan on upgrading. CPU: I7-7700K, air cooled with a Noctua NH-U12A Motherboard: Z270 Gaming Pro Carbon (MS-7A63) RAM: Corsair Dominator Platinum Series 16GB DDR4 2800MHz Memory (couldn't find CL for it, bought it here: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00MPIEDZ8/ref=ppx_od_dt_b_asin_title_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) GPU: EVGA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti FTW3 ULTRA HYBRID 12GB Graphics Card (12G-P5-3968-KR) PSU: EVGA G2 850 watts Case: be quiet! DARK BASE 900 ATX Full Tower Storage: Samsung 850 evo 500GB (primary), and Samsung 870 evo 1TB (dedicated to game installs), and a WD Gold 4TB drive for all other stuff EDIT: We can skip the suggestions for hardware not listed in the post, like case for example. I already have it and am happy with it, unless there is a compelling reason to change, like, powersupply not capable enough or something EDIT 2: Thanks for the responses, the general suggestion seems to be to upgrade to the AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D 4.2 GHz 8-Core Processor . That'll require a lot more research than I had anticipated, but I'll start working on that soon.
  12. I posted a link to a g2 super flower psu
  13. that looks like a micro-atx, but even knowing that, i would advise against "upgrading" a prebuilt machine. its designed for that specific motherboard, rather than a broad range of options that would would like to have when upgrading.
