  1. Lol.. No, I did take it out of course to examine it. I did not find anything abnormal! I just received the PC back and am currently on it. Everything seems fine, but I am so worried still! Though I have a UPS, plugged into a brand new Surge Protector as well. Fingers crossed nothing happens again...so weird..! I would for sure feel more comfortable if I knew what happened, so of course that makes me nervous everyday now not knowing lol
  2. When it first happened I wanna say that the smell was coming from the back of my case, where the PSU is. Though I can't smell anything anymore,so who knows if by the time the tech looked at it if it still smelled, but they claimed they couldn't. They also never took the PSU out of the case to check it, which I thought was a bit off. But he claims it tested fine. So if it tested fine and the strip has the protected light on,I have no clue what could have happened.
  3. So do you still speculate that it could be the strip? I don't know what else could have been the cause/issue.
  4. Attempting to see if I could open it up. There are 4 screws that are an odd shape and my kit doesn't have anything thatl work to open it, so I'm testing to see what I can use. I know it's hard to tell on camera. EDIT: Yeah. There's no way these can come out
  5. I know I'm not crazy, but I don't see any damage anywhere..not in the computer,I checked and Microcenter did a full system test and the claim nothing is wrong. Which leads back to the strip, I don't see any damage on it. No damage on the outlet. The PC was on my desk and the strip was on the wall behind the desk so I know it was either the PC or strip. It's just so weird that between that bang, smell and there's no physical evidence which I don't get unless it's somehow internal.
  6. The weird thing with this Belkin one the grounded led says "Not Grounded", so I guess that only lights up if it's not grounded? As a precaution I picked up a UPS, but how do I know what "VA"/Watts I need? I think the one I got is 1350va and 810 watts. Do I need a more powerful one if my PSU is 1200watts and have additional things plugged into my ups? And no known issues before at all with the outlet or strip. I tested it with another power strip that has an actual grounded led as well and it says it was. So I'm not sure.
  7. As you can guess, that's why I'm so confused. The outlet it was hooked up to looks fine and is working. Microcenter claims they tested the PC and everything is working and they tested the PSU. So if it's not the PC, what the heck was it? It literally had to be the strip or PC because there is nothing else there. I don't understand how this pop and burning smell has no source. I was almost sure it was the PSU because the smell was coming form somewhere between the back of the PC and strip. But they claim it's all fine,so I'm completely at a loss.
  8. I'm not quite sure what else to check or what the cause was. Microcenter tested everything and said it was fine. They even tested the PSU voltage,etc.. Any clues??
  9. So I just checked and only "Protected" is lit.
  10. If it was the strip, would it be safe to test all the outlets? I just worry that if something did happen to it, that could be a fire hazard. And I get that, I probably should have explained a bit better. Yes, it did sound like a mini firework (one loud bang). I didn't see anything on the PSU. Which brings up Microcenter again, they said the PC doesn't seem to have damage. That's why I was so confused because there was a literal burning smell after the noise. Hard to say of anything else was affected, I had other things plugged in the strip, but I was on my PC when it shut off like that and only when I tried to turn it back on, that noise and smell happened.
  11. It's so hard to tell.. Everything "looks" normal though?
  12. I had it plugged into a Belkin Power Strip. I don't see any damage on the strip though. I did end up getting a 1350va, 850watt UPS by Cyberpower though. Just to be safe when I get the PC back. Do you guys think it was the power strip or something internal of it? I had other things plugged into it and they seemed to work fine afterwards. (No longer plugged in now though)
  13. Okay.. So I brought my PC into Microcenter to take a look at it. They finally were able to take a look at it. They claimed everything was fine? They were able to get it to boot and it was running fine. But it doesn't make any sense because of that pop/explosion noise and the smell of burning electronics. How can this be? I'm so confused..
  14. I understand that, I was just stating that I couldn't see any damage on the Mobo. Inspecting the PSU, I can't see anything looking inside. Or anything that looks out of the normal. It does smell really bad though and I can't trace that smell to anything else in the system. Though the "explosion" seemed almost exactly the sound of a capacitor blowing in online videos I've seen. I'll keep inspecting it with a light though and see if I can notice anything.
  15. I'll give that a try. And do you guys really think that these killed my system? Clearly these shouldn't be a thing if this happens?? I'd reach out to them, but I feel like they wouldn't care or believe me since there is no "evidence". And how are these different than any other cable mods you get for your system?
  16. I don't see anything on the Mobo, but I'll inspect the PSU closer. All I can tell so far is that the back of my case, which is where the PSU is, smells like burnt electronics. I inspected the aio and it seems to look fine, no evidence of a leak. It's a Corsair Capellix 360mm. I don't see any damage on the Mobo so far.
  17. I guess so. It's crazy how quick this happened with a brand new plat PSU..! Do you think a UPS would help at all or give some added protection? Everything is plugged in fine. Only extensions are the Lian LI Strimer Plus for the Mobo and GPU.
  18. Yes, I used the cables that were provided for the new PSU. Everything seems to look fine. All plugged in good and nothing looks out of the ordinary. I don't wanna risk turning it on again and I don't have a multimeter. I'm pretty sure it's dead. I just don't know if anything else was damaged. I just can't believe that a brand new and "top of the line" PSU blew like that. I just hope it didn't destroy anything with it. I don't have any other parts to test it with,so I most likely have to bring it in to my Microcenter. Just sucks because I already spent all this money to resolve the first issue and now this happens. I don't know if it's bad luck or what.
  19. New Parts: Asus Crosshair Maximus XIII MSI Ventus 3X OC 3070 Corsair 1200HX Platinum This was a new unit that Corsair sent me too for the power supply, so I find it crazy that this would happen to me after what happened to my last GPUs. So I'm at a loss of words and have no idea what's going on at this point
  20. Hey guys.. another sad day! Some people might remember me, but recently my 980Ti Hybrids caught fire and killed themselves and damaged my Mobo in the process. Originally thought it was the PSU. Though both cards were dead. I replaced the PSU (Corsair sent me a new one) and replaced the Motherboard since it had damage and under warranty. Fast forward to yesterday.. PC randomly shuts off. My heart drops because this is what happened last time. Pressed the power button. Wouldn't turn on. Tried again after turning everything completely off. (PSU switch and Surge Protector). Pressed the button again, PC turns on for 5 seconds. Loud Explosion followed be the smell of burnt electronics. Shut off immediately of course. Though what the heck!! I don't see visible damage anywhere. Does this sound like it was the PSU?! What are the chances that both my GPUs die and then I replace everything with an even better PSU and then this happens?? I'm super depressed over this. My PC is everything to me and I just don't know what or why this happened. Does anyone have some input or thoughts?
  21. Well, due to my previously 980Ti Hybrids that both blew up recently, I was lucky enough to get my hands on a MSI RTX 3070 Ventus 3X OC. I was a bit bummed on how the Power limit is locked at 100%, but I've tried Overclocking so far and these were my results. I feel like people have been getting way higher scores than me and not sure if it's just my imagination or not. How do these results seem to you guys? Other Specs: 10900KF @ 5.0GHz 32GB DDR4 Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 4000MHz Asus XIII Crosshair Hero Heaven Benchmark: +220 Core, +1250 Mem 87.5 FPS 2198 Score 35.5 Min FPS 177.1 Max FPS 3440x1440 8xAA Windowed Ultra Quality Extreme Tessellation ---------------------------------- Superposition Benchmark: +170 Core, +1200 Mem 89.56FPS 11973 Score 75.08 Min FPS 107.47Max FPS 33C Min Temp 55C Max Temp 4K Optimized ---------------------------------- Time Spy Extreme: +170 Core, +1200 Mem (Had to lower, was crashing) 7018 Overall Score 7095 Graphics Score 6612 CPU Score Graphics Test 1 45.83 FPS Graphics Test 2 41.01 FPS ---------------------------------- How do these results seem? I could run some more and different tests, but is it my imagination or do these seem on the lower side? I wasn't sure what to be expecting. Thanks in advance!
  22. Well turns out this card decided to join my other 980Ti Hybrid in the grave just randomly yesterday. A sad day indeed..
  23. Thank you for the link, I'll check it out! Where would I put these on the card exactly? And I was mainly just asking if I needed the Kraken G12 if my card is already technically Liquid cooled with the Stock AIO. I wasn't sure if I could just slap on another cooler or if I needed the Kraken G12 bracket.
  24. Thanks for the info/input! What sort of little heatsinks for the memory would you recommend and where would I place them exactly? And do you know if I would still need the G12 if the stock cooler works already without that sort of bracket?
