  1. The Sandisk Ultra II 240GB is back at $99.99 again on Newegg and B&H Photo Video for the duration of Sept 20th. The sequential reads/writes and the 4K random read/writes are up to 550/500 MB/s and 91,000/83,000 IOPS respectively. No promo code needed for either B&H or Newegg.
  2. Was waiting for Newegg to send their newsletter, they have relatively frequent deal back up on the Sandisk Ultra II 240GB for $99.99. The Ultra II is significantly better spec'd with 80,000 IOPS random 4K reads/writes in addition to being significantly less expensive.
  3. I recall them saying the winners would be announced on monday, could be wrong. They said multiple times throughout the MOD24 event that Nvidia wasn't going to announce the winners through LTT.
  4. They're all the same chip; I hear people complain about all brands and I hear people praise all of the brands being too unreliable, noisy, etc, it just comes down to personal preference and pricing. So go with whichever one piques your interest.
  5. EDITED POST SO TAGGING OP @asimrc MSI Afterburner. It'll install RivaTuner Statistic Server (RTSS). Or you can download Rivatuner Statistics Server on it's own and use a different program like HWiNFO with it as I show below in the third spoiler. Then you just need to go to RTSS and enable "show on-screen display" After that go to MSI afterburner and go into the settings menu - > monitoring. Then it'll have a list of things to monitor, if you want to see it in msi afterburner then click on the checkmark and to enable viewing in the OSD click on the listing after clicking on the checkmark next to it and then look below towards the checkboxes and enable "show in on-screen display" for everything you want to be shown in the OSD. You can monitor anything about your pc, if it isn't in the Afterburner menu you can download a secondary program like HWiNFO which pairs with RTSS to show the OSD.
  6. He described the issue in a different post, something about the monitor flickering.
  7. is there actually a large scale problem with them? @Tro did you try it in a different pc?
  8. That's usually sufficient, if you end up having problems there are multiple driver uninstaller type programs. Well "no problems in terms of power ever" is really putting a lot of pressure on anybody answering this question, I mean a lot of things could happen to cause problems with your power supply which would cause some power problems. But generally, yes, you should be fine with the exception of an Act of God. As said above they are selling on Scan.co.uk. The GTX 970 consumes a max of 180-190 watts, each 6 pin auxiliary connector can provide 75 watts in addition to the 75 provided by the PCI Express lane, that's a total of 225 watts which gives it enough headroom for it to boost a bit. An 8 pin increases that from 75 watts per connector to 150 watts. so an 8 pin and 6 pin connector would give you 300 watts, and an 8 pin and 8 pin connector would give you 375 watts max power available. Now why would it need anywhere near this much, well if you plan to run it stock it won't but if you overclock it significantly then having more than 30-40 watts of headroom is nice and with GPU boost, even without manual overclocks, having that extra 50-100 watts of headroom can mean huge amounts of performance.
  9. inb4 the world ends. On a serious note there are good professional mixing and recording applications for windows that work just as well as their MAC counterparts. The image below shows a survey for which DAW people would use if given the choice, and while the Mac's Apple Logic is the most chosen options Avid Pro Tools which is available for both Mac and PC isn't far behind .
  10. I wouldn't say it's that big of a difference that it would cause them to "freak out,"however downsamping is quite a bit better solution than anti aliasing to remove aliasing as it makes the line appear much straighter due to the higher internal resolution without making the textures blurrier like AA usually does. Nvidia claimed, or somebody else may have, that their DSR technology, no not super dynamic resolution but dynamic super resolution, actually has some performance improvement over standard downsampling and that'd be interesting. Also People make it seem like downsamping was hard on Nvidia graphics cards before.....it takes moments to make a new resolution. If this was an AMD technology sure this'd be ground breaking because at this point you have to edit your registry to make new resolutions with an AMD graphics card, I mean their driver has no special feature to add resolutions not native to your monitor. Nvidia on the other hand has this: And I can't imagine it being too much easier than this.

Is it just me or were worthwhile movies released much more often from 2000 - 2010 than later on?

you were just on livestream lol, Linus said your message. Then again you probably heard since to see the letters you have to watch.
  15. No, the GTX 200 series is 100% unsupported by new drivers. It's officially EOL. They released an EOL document several months back.
  16. That's not entirely true, GTX 200 actually lost support with the most recent drivers. And yeah there are a decent amount of features added VR Pre-rendered frames Nvidia Quality Upscaling (must be enabled in Nvidia Inspector, NOT THE CAME THING AS DSR) EDIT:@nitranXL DSR might support earlier GPUs, usually it says in the driver notes that it's only supported by GPUs after gen X but it doesn't this time. Wouldn't get my hopes up but it's possible I guess.
  17. PCPER And AMD stated that all GCN graphics cards, everything including HD 7000 and later, supports DirectX 12 on some level. As to MFAA being a game changer, nobody has seen the driver that has MFAA in it. So we don't know how true to real life scenarios those numbers are. I recall some pretty incredible stuff about FXAA and TXAA; FXAA is seen as a joke now and TXAA is used in quite a few games and retains some popularity but not seen in such a perfect light as it was prior to release, I believe something similar will happen with MFAA.
  18. @NitzanXL A. It's not being discontinued as far as I know. Discontinued means no longer made,or in other words that it's at the End of Life.the GTX 780 Ti will most likely continue to be manufactured and sold B. Were they to discontinue it and give no driver support for a relatively new card there would be quite a few people looking to sue them. C. Nvidia still supports GTX 400 series, so pretty sure GTX 700 is safe. D. MFAA most likely won't see support for anything prior to Maxwell, just like TXAA was only supported by GTX 600 and later series. E. DSR isn't SSAA, it's similar in the way it works but it relies on Maxwell exclusive hardware to optimize the experience more if I'm not mistaken. F. I'm pretty sure everything down to GTX 400 will have DX12 compatibility, however only cards released with DX12 in mind GTX 900 and R9/R7 300 series will support the new DX12 feature sets.
  19. @TopWargamer [jk] It isn't a coincidence they've had this partnership in the works since before the game.[/jk]
  20. It's been on amazon and is now on newegg lol. Amazon 980 Newegg 980 Amazon 970 Newegg 970
  21. A. Good SSDs don't have a RRP of $60 or $70, they're ON SALE for those prices. Those sales just happen to occur rather often. B.Why would you rather get the SP900 than the ULTRA II? have you looked at the random 4K IOPS for both?
  22. @Captain Chaos sometimes there are options to disable pcie slots in the bios.

Why is MS buying Minecraft is such a bad thing?

Yeah, now you'll be able to look at your hand and scream in terror when you see a single pixel.

Why is MS buying Minecraft is such a bad thing?

Because it's fun to overreact on the internet?
