  1. Hello, fellow techheads, my girlfriend just sent me the two attached screenshots and my eyes nearly fell out. One shows that the drive utilization is 0-1% (sorry, that one's in Slovak, but I believe you should get the picture), the other one shows the temperature of the said drive - it's freaking 86°C! I don't think I've ever even heard of such a temperature. Does anyone have an idea on what could cause this? As I mentioned, it's a few months old HP Pavilion Power 15 and I know that she doesn't do anything stupid like using it in bed or something - she sent me that from her work. And she's a trained IT person, so there's that. Even if she wasn't, though... that's a crazy number right there. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
  2. Actually, I loved that sentence Definitely saving that one to use later. I'd try that but, eh, as embarassing as that sounds, I don't have a drill (new apartment ). I'll try to borrow one, though. Thanks!
  3. Might be worth a shot, but I'll have to go out and buy some glue for that... I'm afraid I have no idea what you're talking about there, sir. Tried and failed that screw holds incredibly tight.
  4. Hello, I just bought a new laptop and wanted to install an M.2 SSD into the free slot it has, but for the life of me, I can't remove the screw (the one that is supposed to hold the drive down). I've been at it for half an hour with every tool I have and I just can't move it a milimeter. I only managed to strip the head. Can anybody help, please? I tried looking for tips online, but I am not spraying anything on the brand new mobo. Thanks a lot!
  5. Thanks for the hints. Sadly, my budget is quite limited, I'm trying to do the best I can with what I have. Those M-Audios look really nice, but in my country they're 180€, which is almost double my budget... same goes for the Lunas, cheapest I can get them here is 210€.
  6. Hello, I've been looking at purchasing a new set of PC speakers and I've been wondering whether it's better to go with a 2.0 set or a 2.1 set. The speakers would be general purpose - gaming, music, movies, etc. Now, I'm no audiophile, but I am halfway towards being one - I can definitely recognize when something sounds terrible. I need something halfway decent which will not drive me crazy. No great volume or bass which will make my neighbors kill me required. My budget is about 100€ and I've been looking at Edifier 1280T or Tascam VL-S3 for the 2.0 side. I've almost decided to buy the Edifiers, but I don't want to be sorry about getting a 2.0 set when I could have gotten a similarly price 2.1 set (Edifier M3200, for example). Any advice? Thanks!
  7. Hello, LTT forums, long time no see. My girlfriend is a teacher and yesterday, nearly all of the PC monitors in their school started flashing random colours at random intervals. Rebooting the PCs seems to help for a while. But not for long. See the attached video for a demonstration. This is quite a few monitors we are talking about here and I've never ever seen such behaviour. Much less from several monitors at the same time. The monitors are Philips 227E4LH. Can anyone help? Thanks!
  8. Ha, I can't believe I've missed that page. I must be going blind... thanks for the pointer! I'm still a little confused though... The CPUFAN1/2 headers have the fourth pin labeled as "Speed control". What good is the "NC" labeled fourth pin on the SYSFAN headers then?
  9. Thanks a lot! Can you tell me which ones? CPU1 and CPU2?
  10. Hello! I just got the mobo in the title for my black-and-white build (sort of. Kind of a re-build, really). The problem is that I can't, for the life of me, find out which of the fan headers on the board are PWM and which are not. They are ALL 4-pin. Does anyone have any experience with it and could help? Thanks! Also, I have a white Phanteks Enthoo Pro to go with it and I can't decide whether to use the included fan hub or not...
  11. Hello! Seems like there's no end to computer-related problems My computer started doing a very weird thing yesterday, something I have never seen before. As the title says, the taskbar constantly freezes, I can't click on it or anything. Restart doesn't help. The only VERY temporary solution I discovered was to restart the Explorer from Task Manager. The thing is, the solution works only for about 5 seconds, then it freezes AGAIN. Everything else runs perfectly well, including the browser, games, rest of the Windows Explorer, simply everything. Apart from that darn taskbar... Anyway, I'm running Windows 8.1 x64, about a month old. The rest of the specs: Core i5 4460 8 GB RAM (Kingston HyperX Fury) EVGA GTX 750 Ti ... oh, and as I'm writing this, Windows Update seems to be stuck as well. Any help will be greatly appreciated!
  12. Hello. As the title says, I have a very frustrating problem with my USB ports. I'm trying to copy some data from my external drive to my HDD, but as soon as I start copying, ALL of my USB peripherals get disconnected and reconnected. Including the external drive, of course. This happens with USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 ports, no difference there. I read it could be some kind of power distribution problem between the ports so I tried disconnecting everything apart from the HDD, the mouse and the keyboard. The problem still persists, no change... Any advice? I haven't been able to find anything on google that would help... Thanks! EDIT: Plugging the external drive into the USB 2.0 port seems to help, but it doesn't solve the problem. I didn't buy an USB 3.0 drive to use with the sluggish old 2.0...
  13. Whoa, thanks for all the quick replies I didn't expect that. I'll most likely be making the upgrade very soon and get rid of the Pentium. Thank you all!
  14. Hello! My question is simple. Is it worth the money upgrading from g3258 to a Core i5 4460? I got the Pentium for my new build and while it absolutely rocks on older games, many newer games (such as FIFA 15, GTA V, Dragon Age: Inquisition) are completely unplayable due to stuttering. My GTX 750 Ti is more than adequate for anything I want to play, but it seems that the CPU bottlenecks it a LOT. So, is the 4460 a good choice, or should I look at something else? Thanks! (Usage is mostly playing, any other work I do on the PC is not really too CPU-heavy)
  15. But the PC works just fine when the GPU is disconnected! And I always take care to ground myself when I touch the inside of my PC... I don't know what else to try. Seems like I will be returning the 370...
