  1. I would recommend the Lenovo Y520, starts at 779 and comes with a gtx 1050ti instead of the regular 1050. I own the i7 variant and have nothing negative to say about it so far.
  2. they do an ok 4th of july sale if i remember correctly
  3. well after much back and forth I ordered the y520. The lower price(student discount) coupled with the 1050ti made it the choice for me. The dell battery life and track pad are great selling points but my uses will almost always allow the use of a mouse and power cord...thanks for the input!
  4. Ok, that's what I wanted to hear! hard to justify the Lenovo over the deal if I can still get playable frame rates on high...
  5. Wanted one last opinion from you all before I pulled the trigger..I have narrowed it down to the Legion Y520 - 80WK001LUS or the Dell 15-7567 with 7300hq. This will primarily be a school productivity laptop but with the travelling I like to do, a little gaming capability would be nice. I cant decide between taking the hit on the CPU or GPU. How much of a hit would I take with the Dell on FPS with optimized titles like overwatch? Essentially it comes down to is the 1050ti worth it -both have same hard drive, and ram Lenovo Pros- 1050ti price(better student discount) Dell Pros i5 7300HQ longer battery life better trackpad
  6. Always interested in seeing what other people on the forums have to say....looking for a laptop primarily in the 500 and below range with at least 8gb ram, at minimum an i5(i7 would be bonus), full 1080p display, and SSD would be ideal(however would be willing to accept mechanical, especially if I could swap it out for an SSD later on). In addition might be willing to go up to 700 so if you also want to include a suggestion at this price point that would be great as well. Would like same specs as above but with an i7(would be willing to accept mechanical drive again but it would have to be swappable with SSD at this price point). Uses: Matlab, Mathematica, MS Office, and probably a little world of warships/tank action,
  7. Should have mentioned a caveat, purchasing the laptop with amazon gift cards!
  8. Looking for the right laptop to get for my dad, been looking around for a while myself and curious to see what some others might recommend. Willing to go up to 700 but honestly, this laptop will be used strictly as a light content daily driver. Intended Uses- 1.Internet 2.Movies/TV Minimum specs I am looking for -4gb ram, preferably 8gb -i5(i7 is fine if it can fit in budget -ssd would be nice -minimum 1080p display
  9. Original Prusa I3 gets my vote(owner of a wanhao and custom I3 myself)
  10. Lol no i am not one of those stat junkies that ruins the game, just looking for people to play in division with, any tier is fine, i have t10 BB, up to t8 everthing else.
  11. I second the 4460 reccomendation, but yes make sure to update your bios. Also you can use you savings for the time being on upgrading to 8gb ram.
  12. if anyone plays world of warships around here and wants to div up....let me know!
  13. Yeah that really is how I feel,it would be fun to have the helium filled drive, as well as the extra 18tb in the long run. But I also want peace mind, curse the 8tb red pro price gouging.
  14. I think of old computers like old shelter dogs, not many want to adopt one or keep one, but they can still get the job done!
