  1. Thanks for the advice, I just got the battery today and am going to replace that for sure. I'll probably just gently vaccum the fans like you did. It looks like the fans in this unit are actually seperate from the heat spreader for the cpu, so I should be able to remove and clean them without actually exposing the cpu and gpu dyes.
  2. Yeah so I need to buy the bit first, because the bottom of the Razer Blade Steatlh uses one of the torx security bits that I don't have. I can definitely attach pictures once I can actually open it. Is it bad to use compressed air to try to blow the dust out? Or could I use a tooth pick or other small piece of plastic to clean the bigger chunks of dust from between the fins? I found the battery on amazon: the process for that looks very straight forward. The fan cleaning and the risk of somehow damaging the motherboard is what scares me the most.
  3. So I have daily driven the blade stealth for nearly three years now, and I plan to use it for a while longer. I would really like to replace the battery and clean the fans, and want some advice. Is the battery replacement simple? Will I have to remove the cooling plate that covers the CPU and GPU in order to clean the fans? (I ask because I am really not willing to do that). Where should I buy the battery from? Also, is it better to have a technician do it? I live in London, so if anyone on the forum has some repair shop locations that they trust, I would love those. I would describe myself as moderately comfortable with opening devices, I have opened quite a few laptops, but to do really simple things like replace a hard drive with an SSD, or add a stick of ram. And this was on super old machines so it was very low stakes repair. This laptop is like my child, so I am terrified of damaging it, which is why I am asking all of this.
  4. My setup at home is my laptop connected to an external monitor, and as such all my games and other files and programs are stored on the laptops SSD. I not only have about 30 gigs of storage left, and was looking for suggestions on a solid external storage solution. Whatever I end up with will just be parked on my desk, so portability isnt really a concern. The main use of the storage drive will be to store my game library and larger programs like photoshop, so I can use the SSD on my laptop for school without worrying about running out of storage. I would like for the experience of launching and playing games from the storage drive to be as similar as possible to launching them from my laptops onboard storage. Im looking for something that about 2 TB, and Id like to spend less than 200 dollars. Any suggestions?
  5. I'm definitely spending 1500, but I have the ability to spend up to 1900. I'm just wondering if investing that extra money is worth the performance bump I'd be getting
  6. Hola! I am moving out of the United States to Belgium, and will be living in a smaller space and as I will be in Europe I'll be traveling quite a bit more. I want to make a solid investment in a laptop for gaming that I'm going to be able to use for school and for playing triple a titles at decent frame rates. Most of the laptops I've been looking at have an 8750h and 16gs of ram, which is more than good enough for my use case. So I guess the question I have is should I spend less on an gtx 1070 or will I regret not making the investment for an rtx card and Ray tracing in the near future? I'll link the laptops I've been looking at. Thanks a bunch! 7. TLDR- I was duel booting Lenix and windows. Stopped working. Is broke. Tried to delete Linux partition. Worked fine. I spent like four hours playing Skyrim. Turned off computer turned on next day. Not working. Please help. Detailed explanation below Please help me. I have been dual booting a Linux distro for about two years aside my windows. Recently it stopped working but I had a boot loader that would come up and allow me to choose whether I wanted to boot into the partition on my computer that had windows or the one that had Linux. Because this was very annoying especially considering I could not use the Linux anyway I deleted its partition in windows using disk manager. I turned off my computer and the grub rescue terminal came up next time I turned it on. I have come to understand that this is the standard occurrence after deleting the Linux partition. However after several attempts to boot to windows through this I eventually acquiesced and created a recovery drive using my laptop. Following this I plugged in the USB drive and put it to it. I then tried using the command prompt to restore the boot loader on my previous Windows disk. However when I would attempt to use the/boot command it would always say access denied.. after this I search several forums and tried just about every alternate solution and regardless of what I did I always ended up getting access denied. after this I simply exited the command terminal and tried restoring from an alternate point. I’m doing this after about 10 minutes I got a message that the restoration had failed so I exited the window. However the moment I closed the window, windows simply booted up As it normally would, with all my data there. While I am very happy that windows is Working and everything appears to be working normally I am quite confused. First of all what happened that allowed windows to boot after all other solutions had failed and the system told me that my recovery from an alternate point had failed? Second of all what can I do in order to ensure that this does not happen again. I am honestly on the verge of just buying an SSD saving all my important information to a flash drive screenshotting my Skyrim mods list and just kind of starting over again. However I’d rather not do that. So if the forum has a Simpler solution I would love to hear it.
  8. Ive tried many websites and guides. Im just looking for someone to give me a working list of mods, or a link to a guide they know works
  9. Help me! I have been attempting to alter the graphics on my skyrim set up for several days now. However, I always run into dependency conflicts, or when I open the game items appear as red triangles, or cut scenes get stuck, and one time when I started a new game the horse carriage scene at the beginning got stuck on a rock and I couldn't do anything. All I am looking for is a list of compatible mods that will make my game look photo realistic, and enhance the game-play experience. Mods like paradise city and realistic water are a must. I would like and update to the character and armor design. An update to the trees and plant life would be welcomed as well as the weather. An NPC update would be nice as well. If anyone could provide a list of compatible mods, with these features ( any additional ones would be greatly welcomed as well) that will just FREAKING work, I will be eternally thankful. All the features I want are in this guide https://www.keengame...t-look-next-gen but basically all of those mods conflict.
  10. I linked the mobo to ask if that one would work with the chip. Sorry for the confusion.
  11. Can anyone link a cheap motherboard with a usb 3 header compatible with this chip? Like would this one work? http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Intel-X79-LGA-2011-Motherboard-ATX-DDR3-or-ECC-REG-RAM-USB-3-0-WiFi-SLI-OC-/132188288004?epid=848476191&hash=item1ec7093404:g:MZwAAOSwGJlZE4yp
  12. Thx. Any case recommendations? My cooler dents my side panel.
  13. I have a terrible PC at the moment and was looking to build a new one, but unfortunately, I just have 500 dollars to upgrade. Can I have suggestions? I do not need any peripherals, just main components. Here is the parts list https://pcpartpicker.com/list/7CRBVY
  14. The printer looks amazing! But the only thing I can afford is the kit, and I'm not super technically experienced. Is the assembly prices vertical difficult?
