980 Intel i5-4590 bottlenecking MSI GTX 980Ti
Conan1600 replied to Daedalus Apex's topic in Graphics Cards
Soooo. how many of you guys built 619 PC's last year, hold a master electrician license, a MCSE IT license, a shop that has been profitable since 2 years after opening and actually has used and owned all of these CPU's and GPU's? o wait i know who you maintain that a i5 can not fully utilize a 980. i have shown videos of several doing so not only with a 980 that the op wants but with 2 980 ti in sli. you can certainly bog down any cpu on market today but that has nothing to do with if the cpu is capable of the desired actions -

you think what you like and upgrade how you like mate. i just posted a vid of a i5 maxing 2 980 ti's. you are simply wrong, but hey...don't take my word for it...watch some linus video's, they have come close to covering this sort of thing in a few vids as for no one buying my brown matter...only the smart ones are getting it, only the smart ones -

i think peeps may not understand what we ask of our CPU's if you are running chrome you are using cycles, got the ol web cam fired up, running some decyption on music, yadda yadda. if your game is more cpu intensive than gpu intensive you can top out before gpu usage but that does not mean you can not fully use gpu as i have proven you can in other games. an i5 will never be a i7 but if you free her hands she can handle any gpu on the market just fine -

i see, may i inquire what your cpu model is and what you are doing when gaming? are you running youtube music with skype, Hamachi, super charger, and 64,568,987 other background processes running? for referencwe see video i posted above with 980 ti in SLI NOT BEING BOTTLE NECKED BY a i5. -

nope. that means that the cpu is performing cpu functions better than the i5 cpu. its all about gpu utilization for bottlenecks . look at crysis running on the same system with different gpu and cpu. big ol cpu bound game -
Changed my GPU and CPU fan stopped working
Conan1600 replied to Eimas25's topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
most likely your PSU is undersized. this os common behavior for when you stick a huge gpu on a small psu. what are your system specs and what power supply do you have- 19 replies

you are trying to compare cpu process from i5 to i7. this has nothing to do with how well a system utilizes a gpu. we all know fallout 4 is on the extreme end of cpu as is the case for a few games. this shows the difference in a 4690 and 4790 fairly well in fallout 4. so whats your point? the i5 even in the worst setups for a i5 vs i7 still does its job amazingly well and does not lag behind the i7 in gaming. while you can search till your hearts desire a i7 will always perform cpu processes better than an i5 but will utilize the gpu to its potential. look at the gpu usage of the 980ti in fallout 4 mate. it isn't holding the gpu back rather the cpu simply doesnt have as many thread or as high a clock or cache -
this is far to broad a symptom. upload a video of it doing whatever it is doing while you are using the mouse swiping slow from left to right to youtube and link it. for all i know by freezing you could mean the mouse randomly freezes or hangs on the screen due to front panel usb 3 issues. or the screen could actually jutter or freeze, or skip or .

what is your point here. the ivy bridge performs awesome at 60 -70 fps. are you trying to compare a i5 with a i7 4 generations apart? are you trying to say the game doesn't run well on ivy? at those settings it is running great on both cpu's. are you saying that my statement about 2-10 fps between i5 and i7 in general is wrong? i clearly said between the same generation i5 and i7. there is barely more than that here in between opposing gens. were you agreeing and proving me statement right? these vids work very well with my statement so i guess thats it......speak man -

if you find a game that stutters based on a i5 ivy bridge or latter cpu i wanna know about it bub. so i can laugh at the moron that made it, in general you are talking 2 - 10 fps from i5 to i7 from equal generations in gaming
