  1. I m getting a little impatient for new architecture from team Red (32nm ) . All they seem to be focusing on are APU's atm. What are your thought & predictions for the next release am4/am4+?
  2. gtx 750ti -$120 is the best entry lvl card I recommend (if you don't have a good PSU) don't bother getting the OC version that requires a 6pin r9 270-$140 is lowest costing mid ranged gpu + it OC's like a beast (into a 270x or better) I wouldn't ever bother with gtx 750ti OC,7770, 7790, r7 series 240, 250 260 all seem like a waste.
  3. max temps on 7870 , 270, 270x are 80-82c, normal temps full load 59-72c depending on cooling I run my 7870 (same card as you, just different name) @ 1175core 1450 mem 72c load 1250Mv. can go higher but my fans get loud above 70%, stress tested mine to 1185core 1500mem 74c load 1279Mv....core is more important to fps, memory bandwidth for AA & resolutions
  4. I already can tell you have a much better mobo & cooler than me
  5. Just remember Amd doesn't have a temp diode, they use an algorithm, below 40c temp readings are inaccurate, mine sometimes says 14c-26c temps idle lol when it's really 32c'ish
  6. You guys run your 8 core's hot I never exceed 54-56c full load, ambient 74F room temp amd 8320 4.4ghz 1.356v (recommend amd overdrive autotune to find lowest voltage required for multipliers, will save a lot on temps) rosewill challenger case 1- 120mm front intake, 1- 120 mm rear exhaust, 1- 120mm top exhaust CM 212+ (artic silver 5 goop) amd cool'n quiet on (underclocks idle cores to 1.4ghz to save on power & temps) no performance difference on game's windows core parking on (turns off idle core's) HPC mode on (high performance computing) note: prime95 hates this setting on.... also HPC off will save an extra 4c but take a performance hit ( for me 48c load with this setting) turbo boost off (if you try OC'ing with it on cpu will max at 3.7ghz, I m an idiot trust me  ) I was lucky my chip OC'd to 4.2ghz stock volts 1.3v, lottery amd overdrive autotune will stress test your cpu to find max stable OC, lowest volts per multiplier. Still recommend you set everything manually in bios(write down your volts x multipliers). Mine hit 4.6ghz stabile. I just don't have the cooling (need a 240mm rad & a new case & replace my cheap ass mobo )
  7. Yeah I guess the 270x isn't to impressive. Gotta be willing to OC the snot out of it. To get great performance. Btw OP what setting are you shooting for? 1440p, ultra, MSAA 8x, multi monitor?
  8. Didn't link it as a guide, more as basic information on OC'ing. A guide would have gone in detail how to OC in increments(15-25Mhz @ a time). Testing & monitoring temps, also checking for artifacts. Backing off on volts ect.. But I get what your saying. Also delete the videos if your gonna quote someone, makes forums messy.
  9. I never used an artifact scanner before . Just benchmark with Valley, Heaven, 3dmark, Aida64 Extreme, & Novabench. Do my 15-60 minute loop for stability & temps. Then do some real world gaming tests for a few hours in (battlefield, Far Cry 3 & Skyrim). Also I use msi Ab/rivertuner + Hwinfo64 OSD(on screen display) to monitor temps & power droops in game . If my temps get to high or core clock starts to dip. I close the game & tweek my OC settings.(add or subtract power & Mhz)
  10. Was no option for; wait I like to know performance, benchmarks, TDP, OC potential, & price before making a decision(also price change of all other cards). Doesn't seem smart to make purchase's ever on hype or rumor.
  11. I chose something else, because we don't know price, TDP, or performance yet of the 880.
  12. The max temp for 7870, 270, & 270x is 80-82c. Normal operating temps at 100% load is 59-72c depending on cooling. Kombuster is a bad benchmark tool for gpu's. I use valley, heaven, 3dmark, aida64 extreme, Novabench. run a benchmarking tool for 15minutes to 1 hour to check stability & temps. look for artifacts while the benchmark runs. recommend you make a fan profile if you OC, to control heat issues
  13. Wing Commander Privateer was the best in the series. This game is kinda like Freespace's alcoholic father. That said they were going to the store for a pack of smoke's & never returned. Haven't logged on Origin in 2 months
  14. No Been meaning to try it out, but my backlog is long enough as it is. Watched a couple videos on youtube. Looks cool the ground tank battles are all about camping & sniping which I like (WoT lol).
