  1. If you laptop has a high cooling ability then it would be beneficial for you to overclock. The only laptop with a highly efficient cooling system (that I can think of) is Alienware, although overpriced, they are very efficient. However, as most laptops use a very inefficient flat style fan, more often than not, this would just result in a hot laptop that throttles its performance bandwidth the hotter it gets. Also take note of how hot your GPU is able to run within its "recommended" temperatures, and if it is over then it's likely that you're just burning out your GPU or reducing its lifespan as it wasn't designed to get that hot.
  2. Thanks for your reply, I've tried several different versions of the R9 2xx drivers, stable and betas
  3. As said above, it's purposely powered when the PC is off. The majority of the time, the powered ones will be for the peripherals attached to the USB ports at the front. The permanently attached peripherals, like mice and keyboards, should be at the rear of the PC, where they switch off with the PC.
  4. I'd highly recommend the Arctic Cooler 13 c: it's a huge heatsink for the price and its performance has been faultless, keeps my overclocked CPU under load under 50deg. http://www.skytech.lt/k0913-ucacofz130bl-cpu-ausintuvas-arctic-freezer-p-116468.html
  5. Hi there, thanks for clicking! My PC is Intel i5 4690K (No longer overclocked) 8GB 2400MHz DDR3 RAM 120GB Sandisk SSD Gigabyte Z97 Motherboard Gigabyte AMD R9 280X Windforce 3x Corsair 750W Power Supply I've been having a problem where my computer runs perfectly fine with high end games and software with the exception of the Adobe CC 2015 suite. I've used it extensively before with the same PC so the sudden change has baffled me. Here's an exact description of what happens. >Double click Photoshop (or any of the CC suite) >Splash screen >Photoshop will freeze >Mouse will freeze >BSOD with a description error, "DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION" After numerous failed searches, I decided something that was probably deep in the registry/system files had corrupted, and it was more effort than it was worth to hunt it down and eliminate it like Liam Neeson from Taken. So having formatted the SSD, and reinstalled a brand new copy of Windows 8 on it, I assumed I was in the clear. I was wrong. Exactly the same thing happens, and I'm very confused as to why. I've updated to the latest graphics drivers (as advised to someone else having the same problem) but I am still getting this error. Windows tells me the driver for the SSD is up to date. I also spotted someone say they fixed the error by messing with their voltages, but not being a BIOS pro and having bad experiences screwing with the BIOS before, I decided against it. Could it be something to do with undervolted components that don't get enough power when Photoshop opens? (Voltages are all set to Auto) Thank you so much for your help! I really need this software for my second year of University! (And I used it all of last year too!) EDIT: As per advice from another thread (in the wrong section), I have disabled Fast Boot and set my clock speed back to stock.
  6. I've now reset the MOBO to its default settings, still the same. Can anyone help?
  7. Thanks for the replies I reverted my clock back to 3.50GHz (stock) and disabled fast boot but the issue still remains.

  9. I've had this problem since Windows 7 :c
  10. Hi all, For some reason, some games, primarily Advanced Warfare, have been intermittently lagging/momentarily hanging during gameplay (and cutscenes), to the point where it is completely unplayable. At first, I assumed that it was having trouble rendering the scenes (I enabled supersampling and anti-aliasing), but when I entered safemode and disabled everything (including enabling rendering at a super low resolution), the lagging issue doesn't seem to have been fixed. It will let me play at a decent framerate when it's not lagging/hanging momentarily, so the hardware is perfectly capable, but this issue seems to occur no matter what settings I try. I've cleaned out all of my graphics drivers, including Intel HD4600, and AMD, and then reinstalled the latest Beta Drivers for my R9 280x. I know for a fact that temperature isn't an issue for the card as my rig maintains a solid 50~ degrees throughout, even under heavy load. Advanced Warfare doesn't even seem to boost the temps at all. I've been having this problem ever since Windows 7, and I've now updated to Windows 10. Intel Core i5 4960K @4.3GHz Gigabyte Radeon R9 280x with latest AMD beta drivers 8GB 2400MHz HyperX 750W Corsair PSU Windows 10 Insider Preview Ample Cooling Is there some sort of graphics driver/redist package that I'm missing? It's completely broken the game! Many thanks in advance!
  11. It seemed to have solved the problem! Thank you! For those who look at this forum entry in the future, go to Add/Remove programs and remove all AMD graphics-based programs, and then go into device manager and uninstall both your dedicated graphics card first, then your integrated graphics as it will ask you to restart your PC. What was a little strange though is that when I restarted my PC after this, the graphics were at a very low resolution. It suddenly corrected itself to 1080p, and the AMD drivers automatically were reapplied. I'll come back to this post if any other anomalies occur. Thank you for your help!
  12. I'll give those a go and report back! Thank you very much! (And yes I have tried that )
  13. Hi there, I built myself this PC about 20 days ago: Intel Core i5 4690K @4.3GHz Arctic Cooling Freezer 13 LE 8GB 2400MHz Hyper X Beast Gigabyte Radeon R9 280X Windforce OC Corsair 750W Modular PSU (80+ B) Gigabyte Z97P-D3 (and plenty of fans for extreme cooling) It was able to run games like Grand Theft Auto V at around 60 frames per second on very high/ultra, so you get what kind of performance it should be going at. I was playing Euro Truck Simulator 2 (Demo) last night whilst in a skype call, absolutely zero dropped frames there on ultra. I turn the PC off last night, and this morning, everything has suddenly become unplayably slow. The system speeds in general are okay, however, the graphics in games are now greatly reduced in framerate. Some games like ARMA 3 and NoLimits 2 won't even get past the menu without the AMD driver stopping. Like I said, I have plenty of system fans. The CPU typically doesn't go over 40-50 degrees C under load, and the GPU doesn't go over 60. At idle, the processors hang at around 25 degrees. However, I have noticed that in the device manager, last night, a whole lot of events occurred in the HD4600 graphics device, notably these. > Device install requested > Device install requested > Device migrated > Driver service added (igfx) > Driver service added (cphs) > Driver service added (igfxCUIService2.0.0.0) > Device installed (igdlh64.inf) Similar events also happened in the Radeon R9 properties. I'm quite baffled, as even though I have a modest knowledge in computing, the graphics card shouldn't just stop working as well without due reason. Help is greatly appreciated!
