  1. I am using the most up to date drivers. Iv been doing that so far and nothing out of the ordinary
  2. Yes there both coming from my main video card.
  3. I have 2 dell U2414H's i only recently got the second one , about half hour to an hour later after using it fine my pc starts freezing for about 2-3 seconds every 2 seconds and depending if i was in the middle of doing something my PC might beep , which makes writing this rather annoying. I'm running both of these monitors from DP to DP mini with the included cables , iv tried other cables and it still happens. i have 16gb of ram so i don't think that would be the problem (a lack of ram was mentioned by other people having this problem) Specs: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit SP1 AMD FX-8350 16.0GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 1100MHz ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. CROSSHAIR V FORMULA-Z (Socket 942) DELL U2414H (1920x1080@70Hz) DELL U2414H (1920x1080@70Hz) 3072MB ATI AMD Radeon HD 7970 3072MB ATI AMD Radeon HD 7970 I nearly forgot to mention i have to turn cross fire off for both monitors to work if i have it on only my first monitors works
  4. That phone mates me think of an x-wing
  5. Iv been looking at fans for the last few weeks now and i think id like to see what the linustechtips community thinks What would be the best fans for any reason that you would have cooling the rad bellow if you had the intent to sleep about 2 meters from your computer (for late night torrenting , rendering or whatever reason) http://www.frozencpu.com/products/5327/ex-rad-110/Black_Ice_GTX_Xtreme_480_Radiator_-_Black.html
  6. Is there any word on the update as to when it might be realised? becasue i kinda need my mouse
  7. I just installed 14.04 and so far my mouse has been really flakey, during the install process it was working fine and on first boot it was ok too . However after updating and restarting my mouse only works on panel icons iv tried: sudo modprobe -r psmouse sudo modprobe psmouse Which didn't do anything. the mouse isn't at fault it works just fine on windows and other machines i really have no idea whats going on. I have also discovered that if i have a browser open i cant click on anything but is i click on "wired connection 1" in the connectivity panel all of a sudden the problem is reversed and i can't you any of the panel buttons and i can only use the brower that is open
  8. After some help from jonny walker i finally just gave up and installed a fresh copy and everything was going fine i had the same mouse problem but that seems to have dissapeard on its own after a restart , thanks everyone for your suggestions
  9. I'm not entirely sure where to begin with the amount of overwhelming problems I'm having with 14.04 currently so I guess I'll just make a list 1. 9 times out of 10 when booting I get stuck at a black screen or at the purple screen with the ubuntu logo Now this happened when I first installed I tried nomodeset and it worked just fine, however a few days later it started happening again with the added bonus of fully locking up my computer with the only solution is to hold down my power button reset and hope it works the next time 2.if lucky enough to get to a desktop more then likely my left and right mouse clicks won't work for some things like clicking on tabs in Web browser or cancel button in a window however at the same time I can click on anything in my hotbar left or right and it will work as normal 3.on occasion when all the planets have aligned and my machine boots and my mouse works as intended my performance is slow at best, for example I can click on Firefox, go make a cup of tea come back and it seems to be a like playing russian roulette if it decided to open, open then crash or just not open at all 4.if I turn my monitor off for any longer then 2 seconds then it's a lucky dip if what's going to happen next, iv had the machine freeze completely, iv had it ask me if the internal clock has run backwards (which at thus point made me laugh quite a bit) and the latest seems to be the screen flicking like it's at a rave 5.this one is more annoying then bad I can't actually shut down my machine properly by using the shutting button on the desktop then it freezes while shutting down so what I have to so us either hard shut down by holding down my power button or by selecting restart instead and turn the computer off at the wall before it reboots Now your probably thinking,f%*k that and why don't I run do a clean reinstall, I have, a few times now, for the individual problems iv discovered that there doesn't seems to be a fix for the mouse problems despite the fact a thousand other people are having the same issue, for the performance problem iv installed the few drives I need like my ati driver and for the boot problem I haven't come across anything to fix it yet Mobo crosshair v formula z CPU amd 8350 Ram 16fb of trident x Video card 2 his 7970's Boot drive is a vertex 4 ssdssd I apologise if iv left anything important out since its currently 4:15am and iv typed this all out from my phone Obi-Wan Kenobi you're my only hope
  10. There's a few windows emulators iv looked at like wine that I think woukd suffice
  11. Iv been there thinking about the swap for a while now and have done a bit of reading such as this. http://www.webmasterworld.com/forum40/201.htm And from what iv read people seem to coming from a different perspective then me.So far what I'm after is something nicer then windows and it seems that Linux can offer that in many different ways iv played around with the OS a little and enjoy it but I'm no expert.I'd be mainly using the system for gaming and server hosting and Web design. Iv got the server hosting and Web design down pat and accounted for but gaming seems to be in question, I know steam is all buddy buddy with Linux now but is there a lot else aside from steam that play well with Linux ?
  12. i was looking at the U2414H for $345.00 x2 ($690) or the MX239H for $269 x2 ($538) Im in Australia so anything i buy over seas has a stupid high postage cost, from what i can vaguely gather they seems about the same so would the MX239H be better just because its cheaper?
  13. I did recently watch that which is what peeked my interest, again though i do like the idea of dual monitors
  14. Hi guys fist off let me just say i know bugga all about monitors and all im really after a bit of help choosing what to buy (its a little overwhelming) is either a dual monitor setup or a really fantastic single monitor setup iv got a budget of roughly $1000 could go higher if need be , only real things im after is picture quality and thin bezels glare isnt a problem because of the way my desk is situated. not sure if you need this but i have two 7970's that both have two mini dp's and single dvi-d
