  1. i was considering a ultrawide aswell, there are some nice monitors with a decent price. but i was thinking i'll use 3 monitors (1 drawing tablet, 1080p and 4k) and my feeling says 4k will be better than ultrawide in this setup but i'm not sure since i've never used 4k nor ultrawide..
  2. I'm currently breaking my head to decide my next monitor and would like some help finding the correct one since my knowledge of monitors is very limited. The monitor will be used for 3d modelling, rendering, compositing and a little bit of gaming. (Currently i'm using a dell ultrasharp 22") My thought was to pick a 4k monitor around 30". Fairly fast i thought the AOC U3277PWQU would be my pick but after reading some reviews i had the feeling it's not the best monitor. So after reading more reviews i came across the benq pd3200u at almost double the price.. Is this price difference really worth it? or should i just buy a calibrator and a cheaper monitor My max price I want to spent on a monitor is around the benq, less would be nice. Any thoughts, advice and experience is very welcome!
  3. anyone have any advice, worth investing in i5 instead of i3?
  4. Hi everyone, Im building 2 office builds for a mate and one for his mother. Main things they're going to use it for are multitasking, browsing, excel, word, have a shitload of windows open en using 2 screens. After looking around for a bit i came up with this build for his mother https://be.pcpartpicker.com/list/b43V2R my mate wants a better one and more "future proof" and maybe add a gpu later on https://be.pcpartpicker.com/list/qVQ88K any other suggestions? better alternatives? any advice is welcome here
  5. i would go for a geforce imo not rly justified to spent a lot for the same performance. they say quadros is better supported but if you check some articles in this https://www.pugetsystems.com/all_articles.php its all the same. For cpu i would go for a 6900k or 6950x you can OC them or spent a bit more for a xeon. you can also wait for the zen cpus they might be pretty good performace/price wise its what im doing. If you want to compare cpus check out cinebench scores
  6. Pretty sure it's this error im getting event ID 41 Kernel-Power The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly. any idea? it only occurs when cpu is on full load for a while
  7. Hi everyone I'm a total noob when it comes to overclocking but i have this annoying problem when my cpu runs at 100% (all cores) after some hours (sometimes it happens faster sometimes it doesnt) my computer will just restart. I dont think its the temp cause they stay below 70degrees at full load, i think i need to tweak my overclock settings more but can someone help me pointing me in the good direction? It always happens when im rendering 3d stuff so under full load. You can see my oc setting below many thanks in advance
  8. couple of days ago i've made a similar topic, you might find some information in there to be usefull I'm still not sure if i'll go for dual xeon (cheap E5-2670, expensive in motherboard though) or wait for the new cpu's to arrive
  9. Allright that's some interesting information right here. I think i'll wait a bit longer for kaby lake or maybe check out a build with 2 cheaper 8 core xeon's but im a bit scared of the slow single core speed and if most things i use will benefit from 16 cores. (i know rendering will benefit but i don't want my programs to run more laggy due to the lower single core speed). RAM now i'm sure the speed doesnt matter that much. As for the gpu i need to look for more information about the different onces but now i'm convinced i need to upgrade that one @scottyseng so more cores will improve the general speed of maya, like viewport, rendering, simulations? or just rendering? Thanks everyone for the information!
  10. Hi everyone I mostly make 3d character art so i use zbrush, maya, arnold for rendering and sometimes keyshot. Almost always i'm running different programs at the same time. (photoshop, zbrush, maya) Currently my rig has the following specs http://de.pcpartpicker.com/list/rpbXf8 Now it's itching again to buy a new desktop but is it worth it? will i feel the difference? I've been looking for information on the web and concluded a i7-6700k or 6800k (still not sure if i should go for faster single core speed or 2 extra cores for a bit less speed) or would it be worth waiting for kaby lake chips? Nowadays maya can use more than 1 core but i don't know to what extend. I'm pretty convinced the 2 extra cores will improve the render speed but does this outweight the single core tasks? I'll OC my CPU and buy watercooling for it. My current gpu is garbage so a 1070 GTX or 1060 GTX will be enough for me i think haven't rly looked into it so correct me if i'm wrong. Most renderers i use doesnt use gpu yet so i don't see why i would spent a lot of money on a overkill gpu. RAM i'm definitely going for minimum 32gb, not sure how much difference there is in rams so any advice ram wise is very welcome. Probably going for ssd and hdd again. If you have any suggestions and or advice go ahead and give me your knowledge Much thanks!
  11. while looking for the same information (looking to upgrade/make new build for 3d modelling and bit of rendering using maya, zbrush) I think it would benefit if you go for the I7-6800k which has 2 cores more than the 6700k and will benefit on cpu based renderers or would the slightly better? single core tasks outweight the more core usage tasks like rendering?
  12. the loudest fan is definitely from the cpu cooler which is a standard fan from the CM 412s. the website i'm getting some new parts from only has corsairs, cm and antec fans so are noctua or be quiet way better than the corsair fans? (the internet gives mixed opinions)
  13. noctua is a little bit expensive but which models should i get and how many?
  14. Hello, I have the Corsair carbide 300r (windowed) case with the 2 standard fans (140mm in front, 120mm back exhaust). cpu cooler: cooler master 412s (with the standard fan) Now i need to render stuff during the night and the noise is getting annoying, what can i do to reduce the noise? I was thinking about getting an extra 2 fans (corsair AF140 quiet) and change the cpu fan to corsair sp120 quiet. I don't want to spend to much money on this but it would be nice if it would run more quiet for a reasonable price. thx
  15. Seems to be the case Can you explain to me why i should buy a new motherboard (X99) not to sure what it would improve
