  1. Thanks everyone for replying. I think medium to high or running games on 1440p will do fine for me!
  2. Hello all, Currently I have a Zotac GTX 1070 AMP! Edition and my old 1080 screen. Now I want to upgrade to a 4k screen. I mostly use my pc for photo and some video editing. Occasionally I like to play GTA V, Skyrim, Star Wars Battlefront, Fallout 4 and some other games. Now I wonder if my 1070 can run these games. I don't expect to run them at ultra quality, but reasonably high settings would be nice, looking for 60FPS. Doe other people here have a 4k screen on a 1070 and what is your performance? Rest of the specs of my system: 6600k at 4.5Ghz 16GB DDR4 Zotac 1070 AMP!
  3. especially if I'd go with a 6600-K that's another 100 eur cheaper
  4. Oh yeah and USB Type C is much more expensive on x99 and I do use that on my phone for example
  5. I was considering going for a 5820K but for cpu+mobo+RAM it would easily cost about 100 to 150 EUR more in The Netherlands (no amazon ) and I guessed going for newest platform would benefit rendering and photoshop work. That's also why I chose 32GB Ram (I often edit huge amounts of RAW imagedata)
  6. Yeah i'd kinda feel bad about slapping a dual 120 AIO Liquid on a non-K. That's just a bit of a waste. I think I wont be able to upgrade GPU for a little longer and for now I'm not unhappy about the R9 380. It's doing what It has to do for me
  7. And I don't feel like going full budget. I can spend 40 or 50 more on some components if it helps. The K is about 40 EU more and the 32GB is also only 40 more then most 16GB kits. And I also just like to overclock and get the best out of my parts
  8. The K only costs 40 EU more, so that should be worth 10% to me I guess. And indeed, i couldn't re-use my DDR3, and I'd like to do it properly, so DDR4
  9. I would go with 32GB RAM because it's not that more expensive and RAMDISK can and has been something I actually do use. Until now I've always overclocked my cpu's (and gpu's) and always seen quite a lot of pay-off. has that dropped that much now?
  10. Really overclocking not worth it? My experience with my FX-6350 and a old Core 2 Quad Q-6600 did really benefit from overclocking and from watching linus and other guys I got the impression that 4.6 overclock on Skylake does help quite a lot. I'll check. Thanks for your answer!
  11. Thx for the fast response. I figured a i5 should do the trick but keeping in mind I might want to go VR in the future (EVGA 980Ti Superclocked for more gold). I have a wishlist active on Tweakers.net. I'll certainly check other boards too. These nicely fit my budget (mid/higer range with nice features but not overly expensive)
  12. Hello everyone, I'm currently slowly planning to upgrade my rig. The way it is now: NZXT S340 CoolerMaster GM750M MSI 970 Gaming (mobo, not GTX 970 :p) AMD FX-6350 (4.6GHz) Kingston HyperX 16GB 2x8GB 1.866 Gigabyte R9 380 G1 Gaming (1100Mhz core, 1500Mhz Mem) CoolerMaster Nepton 240m (with NF-F12) Samsung 580 Evo 250GB 2x Bitfenix Spectre Pro Fan (not really happy with these, because LED Fan) Iiyama Prolite 24" 1920*1200 60Hz IPS This platform is really getting old now so that's the first thing I'd like to upgrade. I probably need to spread the buying over a few months but the parts i'm looking at are: Intel Core i5-6600K (or i7-6700K, not sure yet) Asrock Z-170 Extreme 4 Team Group Elite Plus 32GB Kit 4x8GB 2133 I'm not sure about going i5 or i7 yet. The i7 is about 120 euro's (Netherlands) more so I don't if I'd really need the HT. The pc wil mostly be used for my photography, some video editing and I like to game sometimes (GTA V, Hitman, Assassins Creed, CS:GO). The games I play are usually not too heavy so at first I'd plan on keeping the rest of the system the same and when VR drops in price I'm gonna need to upgrade GPU. I'm also, for the time being happy with my monitor mostly for photo editing. Thought I really would like a 34" UltraWide. Would love to get some input grom you guys on the i5 vs i7 and general idea about my plan. Ohyea and the mobo + RAM because gold EDIT: This would cost around €470, or 540 USD
  13. I could really do with a SSD in my laptop! Still 'rocking' a not so fast HDD with terrible boot times. Not so good for a Lenovo Y50-70 with 4K screen.
  14. As far as i know it is not hitting any limit. It doesn't look like it anyway.
  15. Hello everyone. First of all, this is my system: AMD FX-6350 @ 4.6Ghz MSI 970 Gaming 2x 8GB Kingston Hyperx 1866Mhz Cooler Master Nepton 240m Cooler Master G750m Gigabyte R9 380 G1 Gaming 4GB I could use some help here. My graphics card is not running as it should. It should have a core clock of 990Mhz but when I run Furmark it never hits that. it just hovers between 770 en 860. During Valley the core happily jumped between low 700 and 920ish with min fps 9 avg fps 39.5 max fps 76.1 Me thinking this is some problem with the voltage or anything, I tinkered with all possible options in AfterBurner but whatever I try, it stays about the same. I can overclock the Memory to around 1500 no problem. I also tried putting the card in another PCIE slot and another 8pin power. Again, no difference I RMA'ed the card but the shop says the card is being bottlenecked bt my CPU but somehow I have a hard time believing this as my FX-6350 seems like a quite capable CPU (Welcome haters and fanboys). So I ask for you guys opinion. Is my card being bottlenecked or is it just bullshit from the shop? Attached are the AfterBurner logs from both FurMark and Heaven. Thanks in advance, MiauwMaster
