  1. Thanks for the suggestion - it was a website though, like unroll.me but for people personal data.
  2. Hello all - I saw an ad in an LTT video recently that let you see what sites had your personal data and request that it be removed. For the life of me I cannot remember the name of the service or find the ad again. Does anyone remember?
  3. Long story short, trying to buy a used 4690k. Does this photo look off to any of you? The text seems printed very far left, but I'm just comparing it to my current 4690k. Thanks!
  4. Just replaced the CPU with a pentium I had in another system. Unfortunately, everything seems to be working now.
  5. That's the frustrating part, there's no one place. Usually it freezes right after the lock screen, but sometimes will freeze on the windows splash screen (mobo brand overlay with the windows loading circles under it) then sometimes will just start boot looping instead of freezing (get to windows splash screen, crash, then restart itself. Occasionally the advanced recovery tools freeze as well. Interestingly, I can install windows completely (usually). Then it'll freeze a minute or two after getting to the fresh desktop.
  6. Trying different PSU did not change anything. This seems to narrow down the problem to either the CPU or the motherboard, no?
  7. Specs added to post, thanks. I've gone through all of those steps (or equivalents) except for using another PSU. I will try that and report back.
  8. 0. CMOS has already been reset, everything back to normal 1. I have the newest BIOS available 2. I have not run memtest, but have tested it with RAM from a known-working system, same problem occurs. 3. I will look into this, however the problem occsrs even when I use other drives. 4. Where can I locate information on how to do this? My only experience with 'Linux' so far has been steamOS.
  9. Came back last night and PC was frozen seemingly attempting to update. Had to restart it. After restart, computer kept locking up completely after a few seconds after boot. Have tried: -Repairing windows -removing GPU -reinstalling windows -trying a different hard drive -taking out some RAM/ trying different sticks - reseating CPU To no avail. Computer will either freeze during the install or freeze right after booting. Any suggestions would be great... I'm completely at a loss and really need this machine. 10. Haven't been able to yet. Can't get into windows long enough to do a safe boot restart and the advanced recovery option screen crashes before I can do anything. Is there any other way to get into safe mode?
  11. Walk back to my PC after two hours and it's decided to wake itself up and update, then get frozen on "windows is preparing updates". So I hold down the power button and restart my computer, then greeted with "configuring update" "please don't turn off your computer". After a minute or two that completely freezes up. I wait, but eventually have to turn off my computer again as it was completely frozen. My computer is now stuck with the same reoccurring symptoms. Half the time it will boot normally, then lock up on the lock screen or just after I sign in. The other half it brings up the advanced recovery screen (What happens when your computer crashes) but then freezes on that after a few seconds. Is there anything I can do here other than a full windows reinstall? I don't really know how I would proceed from here other than that... Thanks
  12. The room is maybe 78F degrees max and the router is actually pretty cool to the touch, at least compared to older routers I've had/ my PC's. Highly doubt it's a heat issue. Thanks so much for the input
  13. Will look into doing a factory reset. Interesting note: I haven't yet run into any of the above issues on my wired desktop. Even using discord for hours and no drops.
