  1. It says this at the end of the page... my order last 3 digits are 8xx - has there really been 500+ orders of this in the last 9 hours? Thought I'd have a reasonable chance at the bonus coffee..
  2. Thanks Ben & Jarno. Basically what I want is to have my own normal local network/router which takes broadband feed from existing wifi. Ben, thanks - I think your suggestion to have an access point feed a router makes sense.
  3. I'm considering moving into an office that provides wifi. What's the best/easiest solution where I can create my own local network and take their wifi as my broadband supply? I want to be able to run a VPN from the bridged connection. Ideally looks like this: Their wifi -> my router (VPN) -> my devices (both ethernet & wifi) Cheers :-)
  4. Hi all, Hoping to find out the best solution for the following scenario: wirelessly streaming from laptop to 3 displays (2 TVs and a projector) simultaneously (same content). I know using a miracast dongle in laptop and other dongle in TV achieves it but I am looking for solution to stream to 3 displays simultaneously which complicates matters. Are there any devices / combination of devices that will achieve this for me? Thanks! Joseph
  5. Hi all, I'm looking for a camcorder to do 1080p at 30fps with max budget 200-250 euro. It will be used to do interviews approx 15-25 minute long in a fixed setting. What would be the best recommendation? I am looking at Canon Legria HF R606 and Sony HDR-CX405 at the moment. Also on the audio side, I have two Zoom H1s with lapel mics - if I record audio on each person with their own mic (sitting beside each other) will I be able to edit it together on video editing later? Do I need to do a clap or something to sync? Have very little knowledge on this subject. Thanks a million!
  6. Dutch? edit: See Belgium in your name, my bad still sound Dutch to me
  7. Hi all, I was wondering does anyone have experience with freelancing websites such as freelancer.com or elance.com? Is it something worthwhile to try, what are your experiences with them? I have seen that a lot of the work is undercut and can be difficult to get quality clients. Cheers!
  8. Thanks this looks really interesting and potentially my ideal product, going to look into it more
  9. Yeah so I've been looking at rPi solutions but not sure if I can rely on seamless use?
  10. Hi all, I have been doing a lot of research but perhaps some friendlies on here might be able to make some recommendations.. I am looking for a dedicated XBMC box, really ideally around 100 euro or less. Will play all media from home server through gigabit Ethernet (don't need wireless). Needs to play large blu ray quality files seamlessly and not be sluggish in general. I'd be willing to go somewhat over the 100 euro mark if guaranteed I'll have a crisp, clean performance especially with streaming blu ray over network. I've been looking at NUCs but price point seems quite high, wondering is there a better option for me that will meet my needs Thanks in advance
  11. Thanks. Here is a rough pic of the room: http://i.imgur.com/kWGSk8m.jpg Because of the spacing two floor standing speakers I don't think would look right to the right and left of the TV as they would be cramped - it's hard to visualize though... What would you suggest given the room layout? I realise it is a bit awkward given sofa placement (can't change)
  12. Thanks for the detailed reply, I've been having a think and trying to absorb your recommendations. Am I right that normally I would have two "normal" speakers for FR and FL, a centre speaker and then have the 2 standing speakers as BR and BL - that would be the standard? The total for the towers, speakers, centre speaker and subwoofer you recommended is 1150 which really is out of budget. I could stretch to 750/800 but absolute highest. Would you be able to adjust your recommendation on that basis? The subwoofer seems very expensive? Also - we are having the wiring done in the house at the moment, what do I need to ask for for the room to be wired correctly for the surround sound? ( also also we are considering having speakers / surround sound in the sitting room for music, at least having the wiring installed so the option is there - what would you recommend?) Thanks so much!
  13. Thanks again. I've looked through these and looks interesting! I was thinking perhaps best to buy separately: a receiver, 2 tall standing speakers for back then normal speakers for other 3 - how does that sound? Those don't seem to deliver to Ireland :-(
  14. Thanks for all the replies If I were to bump the budget up to 500/600 - what would you recommend then for receiver and 5.1? Cheers!
  15. Hi all, After renovating the house we want to do up the living room, I'm going to build a HTPC and want to get a surround audio system to go with it. I know nothing about home audio systems - I looked up some systems but they came with a DVD/blue ray player built in and it seemed silly to get one of those type of systems given the HTPC. After some research it seems I should get a receiver and speakers either in a bundle or separately? Looking for some recommendations with budget circa 300 euro (some flexibility). I liked the look of some floor standing speakers for the back speakers. Hoping for 5.1. Primary use is watching movies / tv. Cheers
