  1. I am currently working on a project to create a large-format camera that uses a scanner as the sensor, however, I've hit a roadblock. I thought that I'd seen some scanners previously that had the ability to scan without their lamps turned on, but I am struggling to find any that support this feature. Does anybody know a scanner that either has this feature or one that could be hacked / DIY to disable the lamp and still operate? I got a cheap cannon scanner to try and use, however, it seems to have some auto-homing feature that uses the lamp to tell when it is home, so when it's disabled it no longer functions at all. Any suggestions would be much appreciated, thank you!
  2. newp. no warranty on it. got it about 5 years ago, with full accidental warranty but i think i used it too much and they didn't ask to renew, got an entire new model after a year and a half it was so bad.
  3. Hey guys, my Dell XPS just recently died from seemingly the Bios and GPU chip becoming unsoldered. I'd really like to not downgrade, so I really want a laptop with a 4k touch screen, and dedicated GPU that has a decent build. Every option I find seems to cost like 1600 to 2 grand minimum and was wondering if there is any more affordable option on the market? Thank you.
  4. Glasswire To be honest, not sure if they are so much an active sponsor any more but their website is a bit misleading with their subscription prices, listing them as "Buy" with no time period, and not making it clear that the price is a subscription.
  5. Hey yall, I currently have an x99 deluxe motherboard with an i7 5930k. I want to upgrade to 64 gb ram, so I purchased a kit off of eBay for 200 bucks, after installing it everything seemed to work fine, however after a few days my computer started to throw errors including Unexpected kernel mode trap, windows boot manager saying windows failed to start, and memory diagnostics tool saying there are issues with the memory. After this, I requested a refund and ordered a new kit, but with the new kit I am seeing completely separate errors. After getting them all installed I saw a bf/6f error code which seemed to be a memory error. I took them all out and started doing one at a time, when I did that, almost every stick showed error 53, but upon putting the old stick back in it booted fine. Eventually I was able to get one of the new sticks working, but when I put in two, it only showed one stick in windows. After some more screwing around I got four sticks to work at once, but then after installing the rest of the sticks (8 total), it went back to only detecting 2 of them. I made sure xmp was setup properly and that the bios is up to date. Am I just having terrible luck with used ram kits, or is there something wrong with the motherboard?
  6. Alright, thanks. Looking into most of what I saw on Ebay it's registered, so much for getting cheap ram
  7. I'm looking to upgrade my ram, and after looking around on ebay I saw a lot of server ram and I was wondering if this would work fine for my setup. I saw on google that sometimes ECC ram can be used with a non ECC setup, but the ECC won't be functional. I have an i7 5930k and the motherboard is an ASUS x99 Deluxe. Will ECC ram work in this setup?
  8. Actually, going back to WIFI it seems worse yet, so maybe it is a combination
  9. Okay so I just restarted and got the internet, I closed all the tabs and then opened one to give it the best shot and it worked reasonably okay, however when I opened the tabs I normally keep open (Maybe around 25 for various school, tracking, entertainment tabs) and it came back to being quite slow. The laptop I'm on has 32gb of ram so it should be able to handle these tabs fine, but maybe it is a hardware issue.
  10. I just tried plugging right into the modem, and could not get internet from it, when I tried with the router though it worked, but was still slow.
  11. I haven't yet because of the inconvenience, the throttling occurs some times and not others, so I'd have to find time to sit around my modem one day
  12. My internet has been terrible for a while, I'm using spectrum and youtube videos struggle to play in 144p. I'm paying for a 300mbps, but constantly even regular web pages struggle to load. The moment I go to a speed test website, however, it always shows 150+, even though that's not what I pay for, that's better than what I'm actually seeing in usage. My modem is an ARRIS SB8200, my router is a Asus GT-AX11000 and I use a bitdefender box between them. My laptop uses a Killer 1535 card, so all of these devices should be capable of these speeds, the only thing I could see maybe harming it is the bitdefender box, but I don't think so. Does anybody see what could be the issue? If it is the ISP throttling the speed, how would I prove this? Thanks!
  13. I'm facing an issue where USB devices seem to be disconnecting or acting up on my PC, I believe it is because there isn't enough USB resources. Would getting a USB card solve this? I'm not using any hubs, all items are plugged directly into the motherboard.
  14. Well first and foremost is Superhot if you haven't played it already, Raw Data is super good, Pavov is a CS go type game and Onward is another multiplayer shooter. Budget cuts is good. Arizona sunshine is a semi horror game but the shooting is really tight in it. And a non shooter / action recommendation is Thumper, a really good rhythm game that can be played normally, but in VR is just more immersive.
  15. I think what I am going to do is get the index, and if the tracking works fine on it and I don't have the same issues I had with the vive, I'll keep it, however if I have tracking issues I will return it and wait for the next gen.
  16. Good video, but it makes me feel even more conflicted. I'm still iffy about inside out tracking, I feel that when base stations work properly they will just innately be better than inside out, however the main reason I wanted to upgrade from the vive is I had constant issues with tracking, and with the flow sensors that seems like it could close the gap. Its also mentioned that there is likely to be an addon which could be interesting, becaue it doesnt seem like there were any major actual screen improvements or anything based on speculation.
  17. I can give you some recommendations, what type of game are you looking for? Horror, shooter, etc
  18. I recently sold my original Vive with the plan of getting the index, however, It's been listed on Facebook marketplace for around 5 months before I got a reasonable price on it. I now have enough to afford the index, however, my concern is that valve will release a new headset in the near future since its been a while since the index was released. Should I get it or hold off?
  19. Sorry about the vague question in the title, but this takes some explanation of the situation. I have been facing issues with my internet for a while, random disconnects, the like. I always thought it was just spectrum being spectrum, but yesterday over the course of 4 hours my internet disconnected 50 times, exactly. I can tell this because my NAS sends an email whenever it gets disconnected from the network. Again, normally I would attribute this to the network provider, however this time not only was there no internet, but there was no WIFI being broadcasted at all either, neither my phone or laptop saw the networks, so it wasn't a case of "Connected but internet not available". Along with this all of my google smart home devices were disconnected as well. I power cycled all of my networking pieces. To add as well, Along with a modem and router, I have a Bitdefender box between the two, if that could cause anything like this. I would contact netgear directly, but their shitty customer service demands you pay if you call for support after 90 days of buying the thing.
  20. Well, my other camera slider is extremely simple, just four wheels on carbon fiber rods. I actually know a photographer who makes all his stuff, in a manor very similar way to this to shoot commercials, and sells a kit to do it (Though he uses an acme leading screw instead of the timing belt I am planning on using) and a few other minor things. I don't think the mechanical is the main issue, I think the coding is by far going to be the hardest part.
  21. I beleive the other m.2 drive is for the wireless card, and is tiny. I tried disabling legacy and everything, and made sure all M.2 drives were enabled, its such a strange case.
  22. Ohh okay, so basically with that code it will just operate the slaves that just run whatever the master tells them to?
  23. That was kinda what I was getting towards, with each "Module" (The pan/tilt head, or the slider) having its own little cluster of electronics to talk to one master. I wasn't sure exactly what wireless card to get. I have seen some wireless cards being directly coded to, such as in the video attatched, so I'm not sure if something like that would be best or whatever. I just wasn't sure if a master arduino or pi would be able to pick them all up and talk to them at the same time or not.
