  1. For productivity, I'd probably go with an ultra wide, if you've got $600. Of course, if you really want to go productivity crazy, just buy three or four decent 1080p monitors for about $150 each. Lots of pixels for relatively cheap.
  2. Like everyone else said, 16 is a good start, but it really depends on the size of the project you're working on. A three minute video at 1080p is going to require a lot less memory than a ten minute video at 4K.
  3. Thanks guys! Will definitely be purchasing an SSD!
  4. That answers most of my questions. I will definitely be swapping out my 500GB for the SSD and keep the TB. Anyone know about battery life though? My battery life is short enough as it is, and I'd like to know what an SSD will do to affect that.
  5. So, I've got an msi ge60 Apache Pro 003, and I'm thinking about purchasing a SSD to swap out with one of the hard drives (currently have a 500gb and 1tb 7200 rpm drive). I'm just wondering if the speed boost is significant enough for the money that I'm shelling out. I'm also curious if I'll see an improvement in battery life since SSDs don't require a physical disk to spin. Thoughts and opinions? specs: Intel Core i7-4700HQ 2.4GHz NVIDIA Geforce GTX 860M 12GB DDR3 RAM
  6. I could use a new mouse and if Linus and friends recommend it, then it's probably a pretty great choice. After all, LTT knows their mice... mouses...mices? They know their stuff.
  7. That worked! Thank you so much! I'm going to go download all my apps now. Thanks for the help!
  8. my phone actually isn't on a network right now. I haven't backed up the device, and PC companion doesn't recognize the device because of the lockscreen.
  9. Battery isn't removable, otherwise I would try it. I've reset the thing a dozen times already, so that's not it either.
  10. So, I was having trouble using Sony's update center to update my Xperia Z1 compact to Android 5.0.2, so I used Sony PC companion to attempt this. Everything seemed to be going fine and dandy until the process froze towards the end (right after optimizing all my apps) and now I'm stuck with the black screen of death. Well, it's not totally black as the notification bar is there, and the holding down power buttons works. Everything else though is completely unresponsive. Does anyone know how I can reset this thing or get it working?
  11. Thanks for all the help guys. I will definitely look into getting a better monitor strangerbob, but I'll keep the processor since I'm going to be using the computer for other things besides gaming. Otherwise, I would have gone with the cheaper i5 4690k.
  12. Thanks for the quick responses guys! I've switched out the cooler and switched to a Z97 board. Current Build: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/r3B7Bm Everything look good?
  13. So, I'm building a gaming pc which I will use for (some) video editing and (lots) of programming stuff. It's my first build, so any suggestions or comments would be helpful. I've assembled a little something on pcpartpicker.com and I'm hoping some of you guys can point out any issues, better deals, or proposed changes to my current build. I've got a $1200-$1300 budget, and I do plan on adding a second graphics card, another 16GB of ram, and some 7200 rpm hard drives at some point in the future.
