  • Biography
I am Ewan. I love gaming and computers, but not on the level of 'I spend all day worshiping the PC overlords'.

"But Ewan, your rig is pretty bad, you have an i5 at 3.1-"

Shh small child. I am a student, I cannot afford the Titan X nor a Xeon just to run CS:GO.

I'm currently saving my pennies for an SSD to run my OS and a few games I play religiously.

I'm that tech guy in the family who turns PC's and iPad off and on when the internet goes down. My brother likes to think he is the tech wizard but I can't complain because it gives me more time to browse dank memes.

  1. Hi Linus forums! First off, because I know if I didn't you'd lynch me, here are my PC specs so you don't have to look at my profile. Some specs are vague and I will edit them when I know the finer details. The fan does not light up nor run when the PC is turned on. The USB 3.0 does not work either when I plug a device such as a pen-drive or iPhone into it. In addition to this I need advice. I think my motherboard is too limited to have more than one fan. I wish to install two more fans to have a total of 5 fans. One fan will go next to my main fan and push air into the computer. The other fan will go perpendicular to the two main fans to push air outside of the PC case. How can I achieve this with my current motherboard? If I need to get a new motherboard what should I look for so that I can achieve this? I have provided pictures below of my computers intestines so you can tell me what I haven't plugged in, or what I've plugged in incorrectly. I hope these photos are clear enough. If you need further photos of my PC I am willing to provide extras as best as I can. I tried linking the images so you wouldn't need to view them by clicking links but the formatting f*ucked messed up and I can't be bother to try fix it. Here is an imgur album of all the pictures below anyway: http://imgur.com/a/Jwitd
  2. Thank-you both for clearing that up for me. I am once again a happy bunny.
  3. I hate the 'technically true but I'll call it false' advertising they did with Windows 10. When I read 'Windows 7 & 8 users will upgrade free' I expected to get a permanent full version, not a year long trail. I do want Windows 10 but I don't want any problems with upgrading and then downgrading in a year. Is it better to not bother upgrading because I know for a fact I won't be paying to upgrade in a years time? It's just so frustrating that they advertised a full upgrade, which in fairness they give, but turn around and say it is for a year only. I will always remember to never assume Microsoft will give me free things.
  4. Thinking about those sweet SDD's.

  5. Click <removed referral link> to go the main page for amazing deals off a wide range of games. For example: 44% off The Witcher III: Wild Hunt - <removed referral link> 54% off Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare - <removed referral link> If you live outside of the EU and the two links above do not work then try the top main one as the website will redirect you to your countries version of the site. These guys have a Trustpilot review of 9.7 and I recommend them to anyone. Happy gaming!
  6. I currently use a 22" Technika TV (refresh rate of 50Hz) with HDMI link to my GTX 660ti graphics card. I get have a resolution of '1824 x 1014'. When playing games like Killing Floor 2, Battlefield 4 and Dragon Age: Inquisition I get varied framerates (20 to 50 fps) on high settings (medium to low on Battlefield 4) My question is: Does having an 'uncommon' resolution, such as '1824 x 1014' or '1234 x 834' at 50Hz give a lower framerate than common framerates like '1650 x 1050' or '1920 x 1080' at 60Hz? Is it worth selling my current monitor and buying a '1920 x 1080' monitor? What I mean by 'common resolution' is resolutions that are available to use by default in programs such as games or the resolutions you can choose through Windows.
