  1. I've manually dialled in some settings and got my RAM running at 3200MHZ stress testing it now, if it doesn't work ill give XMP another try. Thanks for the tips.
  2. So, recently I got a new PC massively better than my old one but still somehow got lower fps in games like LoL and Overwatch. After some research I tried disabling xmp, LoL gained 100+ fps and Overwatch gained around 15-20fps. I was left confused as the RAM was now running at 2400MHZ but was getting higher FPS when the XMP profile ran it at 3200MHZ. I'd ideally like to run my RAM at its max settings without losing any FPS any Ideas? Current Specs: Ryzen 7 1700x MSI x470 Gaming Plus Hyper X 16GB DDR4 CL16 GPU GTX 1060 6G
  3. So, i'm planning on buying a ryzen 7 1700x cpu and have found some relatively cheap 3200mhz ram. AMD's website says that the system memory spec is 2667mhz would it still be worth to buy the faster ram or would the cpu not support it? I'm aware that the memory would not run at 3200 out of the box and would likely still work but, would it require large amounts of effort from me to get it working at full speed. For reference this is the RAM i'm planning on getting. https://amzn.to/2FThbya
  4. @beersykins @Alex Atkin UK I've attempted to remove the Ethernet adaptor and reinstall it to no avail. My plan is now to either contact my ISP or install a PCIe Ethernet adaptor.
  5. I would but I have no means of access to the router, my ISP is a company that provides internet to University owned accommodation. Would connecting the computer to a reboot-able router i.e my own fix the problem.
  6. @Donut417 I changed the mac address one of the machines restarted both machines but the problem still persists. Not entirely sure if i did this correctly the procedure Ethernet>properties>advanced>network address and changed the value to not present.
  7. So long story short, I have two computers currently that both will not recognize an Ethernet connection. A little backstory in an attempt to change my MAC address I rather stupidly gave both computers the same MAC address and connected them to the network. Initially everything was fine as I was only using one computer but after connecting the other computer both computers now do not recognize an Ethernet cable and both state that the Ethernet cable is disconnected even when it is plugged in. After booting one of the computers windows stated that there was an IP address conflict. I've tried the following commands [ipconfig/ release] [ipconfig/renew] but windows states that it can't perform the command as the media device is disconnected. To conclude I've honestly got no idea how to fix this issue and any help would be greatly appreciated as my WIFI is horrible for gaming.
  8. So planning on getting on getting a Ryzen 5 1600 and planning on overclocking it, will DDR4 running at 2400MHZ hurt performance. Heard that Ryzens lose a lot of performance and overclockablity when paired with slower RAM.
  9. thanks man helped I've just freshly installed so it should work now
