  1. For the same price, you could get the ryzen 1700 which comes with a decent cooler. Gotta get those cores.
  2. Noob question: would the quality of the PSU have any influence on shortening the life of components on 'hard' power offs?
  3. But if they are hypothetically dual rank?
  4. Ah thanks! That's the answer I was looking for. So if I bought these: https://www.amazon.com/Corsair-Vengeance-3000MHz-PC4-24000-Memory/dp/B0123ZBPDA and if hypothetically they are dual rank DIMMs, I could still OC them to 3000MHz (MOBO allowing), otherwise they would stay at 2400MHz, as stated by the table above? Its pretty tough to find out if DIMMs are SR or DR, and many have heat spreaders, making it difficult to see if they are SS or DS.
  5. Hey people, So I have recently decided to switch to team red. Haters gonna hate. I guess some of you have seen this table before regarding memory speeds supported on AM4 boards: After the BIOS update of AGESA 1.0.0.6, are AM4 boards still fussy about single/dual rank DIMMs? If I want to get a 2x4GB kit running at 2667MHz, do I still have to stick with single rank sticks? Any DIMMs suggestions are welcomed; my budget is ~$90 Thanks!
  6. I found these two version of the same (I think) cards - MSI 1060 Armor 6GB. One is quite a bit cheaper... I couldn't find any information on the 'V1' version. Can anyone shed some light on this please? Thanks! https://www.amazon.co.uk/MSI-GeForce-GTX-1060-ARMOR/dp/B01IPBC4WC/ https://www.amazon.co.uk/MSI-GTX-1060-6G-Graphics/dp/B01KF90IY8
  7. THanks! Also, any disadvantages with the H81 compared to the H85? I know I am not overclocking, and only using 2 sticks of ram so there should be not much, but just asking...
  8. Well thats a way to cram an i5 in... but will it be wasted with the R9 280x? I think I can do with the cheaper crucial RAM
  9. Hello all, After spending some time (that I could spare) researching into PC parts, and looking at build guides here and there, here is what I've came up with... First: http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/WFjcvK CPU: Intel Core i3-4130 3.4GHz Dual-Core Processor (£89.97 @ Ebuyer) Motherboard: MSI B85M-E45 Micro ATX LGA1150 Motherboard (£49.88 @ Scan.co.uk) Memory: Crucial 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory (£48.23 @ Amazon UK) Storage: Toshiba 2TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive (£56.34 @ Aria PC) Video Card: MSI Radeon R9 280 3GB TWIN FROZR Video Card (£149.14 @ Scan.co.uk) Case: Fractal Design Core 2500 ATX Mid Tower Case (£47.87 @ Aria PC) Power Supply: EVGA 500W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply (£39.81 @ Amazon UK) Optical Drive: Samsung SH-224DB/RSBS DVD/CD Writer (£12.36 @ CCL Computers) Operating System: Microsoft Windows 8.1 (OEM) (64-bit) (£74.92 @ Amazon UK) Monitor: BenQ GL2460HM 60Hz 24.0" Monitor (£123.98 @ Amazon UK) Total: £692.50 Second: http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/rnzMdC CPU: AMD FX-6300 3.5GHz 6-Core Processor (£74.90 @ Amazon UK) Motherboard: Asus M5A97 R2.0 ATX AM3+ Motherboard (£69.56 @ Scan.co.uk) Memory: Crucial 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory (£48.23 @ Amazon UK) Storage: Toshiba 2TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive (£56.34 @ Aria PC) Video Card: MSI Radeon R9 280X 3GB TWIN FROZR Video Card (£169.99 @ Novatech) Case: Fractal Design Core 2500 ATX Mid Tower Case (£47.87 @ Aria PC) Power Supply: Antec TruePower Classic 550W 80+ Gold Certified ATX Power Supply (£56.71 @ More Computers) Optical Drive: Samsung SH-224DB/RSBS DVD/CD Writer (£12.36 @ CCL Computers) Operating System: Microsoft Windows 8.1 (OEM) (64-bit) (£74.92 @ Amazon UK) Monitor: BenQ GL2460HM 60Hz 24.0" Monitor (£123.98 @ Amazon UK) Total: £734.86 The FX-6300 is over a little bit, but with the 6 core, it may give an advantage in the future over the i3, though i3 now seems to be the most sensible, judging by core performance. I wouldn't need any after market cooling products (at least I think, as I will not be overclocking) Games I will be aiming for are WarThunder, LOL, The Division (out soon), City: Skyline, Skyrim (old, but hey), Witcher 3, Shadow of Mordor, Bioshock Infinite. I will be running 1080p, but Ultra setting for the more demanding titles not really required. Would just like a decent playable experience, without playdo and staircases as textures and objects.... Scrutinise it as much as you like, I will not be offended, just dont scrutinise my wallet. Thanks!! P.S. please keep in mind that parts are around 15% more expensive here in the UK compared to the US
