  1. I currently have dual channel DDR3 8GB (4GBx2) Adata gaming series RAM kit in my pc and want to upgrade to 16GB. The kit has been discontinued as my pc is nearing 7 years old now, can I just pick up another dual channel kit with the same speed/CL settings from another brand and just throw it in there with it? Or do I have to buy all new RAM? Here's the specs for the kit I currently have. Cheers, Mat.
  2. I'd love a Blade Stealth. I'd use it for watching porn, and I suppose my desktop is getting a little outdated so I could game on it too, maybe even use it for coursework. But mostly porn. P.S - I could get by using the Blade 14' for "Coursework" too.
  3. It only happens online, and it feels as if I'm desynced with the server/game, for example in WoW I'd try to cast an ability or get on a mount and nothing would happen, my character would just be stood there until a few seconds later when presumably my client catches up and I start casting. Outside of PvP though I've not had this issue once other than Smite.
  4. As the title says, a few of my games keep freezing for around 10-20 seconds every few minutes. So far it's only happening on Smite and in PvP on WoW and it's only started happening in the last couple months. My ISP, Kingston Communications is a rather terrible one, our internet cuts out/in constantly during the day and is never up for more than an hour at a time past 8pm , sadly though my parents refuse to actually do something about this. So is what's happening, happening because of KC, or would there be something I could do on my end? Router is fine, it's been replaced several times in the last few years because of these cut out/in's and I use a usb wireless dongle to connect to it.
  5. Thanks, it seems a little complex but looks like it will work. If I had "Listen to this device" selected for the PS3, would sound from my PC be ignored until I un-select that option for the PS3 and (Presumably, unless the sound defaults back to my PC) select "Listen to this device" for my PC? Or would the sounds from both devices be play over each other? Thanks again, the above issue isn't much of an issue, just my curiosity.
  6. I'm not sure I really understand what you're saying, but that it might work if I plug an optical cable into my soundcard, and then into the PS3. And from the settings in the PS3 I can select the optical out, and that will play sound out of my speakers? And what if I plugged my headset (Steelseries 7H) into the soundcards' crystal voice box-thing with the mic? Could I play sound over them from the PS3 if I selected headphones in the firmware for the soundcard.
  7. I'm considering getting a PS3 to play GTA 5 on, and I don't have a spare TV to plug it into, so how might I hook a PS3 up to my Logitech 5.1 surround sound system? The sound system is currently plugged into my Soundblaster Zx card and I've seen that both the soundcard and PS3 have a digital port on them. Could I plug the PS3 into the soundcard and have some magic happen? Or do I need some special adapter? My monitor is a Dell ST2220L and it has VGA, DVI-D and HDMI connections.
  8. Got the trim here: http://www.kustompcs.co.uk/ Mat.
  9. Fixed my last post, images weren't showing / showing in the wrong places.
  10. UPDATE: The wristband arrived today and I got everything put together. Everything to go in the case, missed out the CPU power extension as this was taken after I started. The fans, GPUs and sound card where taken out to clean the case. Not the best picture but this is the Soundblaster ZX without it's cover, taped over the LED's. H100i and the fans are in, this is the cabling before I tidied it back up. All done, somehow the tape came off the soundcard LED's but I'll fix that later and get some night time picture's to show the lighting a bit better.
  11. Presuming you have the top and front panels off - The top mesh + trim are just unscrewed and if you look at the first picture, those tiny legs are bent through gaps in the black trim. Same for the front except there are these annoying "Snap into place things" that also hold the mesh and trim on. I did accidentally break two of those snap into place things when removing the mesh and trim but because they're are also held on by screws, it doesn't matter too much if you break them.
  12. Backstory: Originally my computer was built about a year ago by a relative as I didn't have the know how to do it myself, and so recently I decided I wanted to add to it in a few ways. I was only wanting to change the fans to Corsair SP120s, add an NZXT Hue for better lighting and a Corsair H100i, just to make it look a bit nicer. But the window on the Phantom 410 was rather restricting and I really wanted to see my two 670's in their lit up glory - So I decided to also cut my own window into the panel and, once again for looks, spray paint the case's meshes to match the power & reset LED's. Parts list: 375 x 355mm Clear perspex sheet 2m U-Channel trim Double sided foam tape Blue spray paint 5x Corsair SP120 Quiet Edition fans Corsair H100i closed loop CPU cooler NZXT Hue lighting system 8 Pin CPU power extension Arcti-clean thermal compound remover Anti static wristband So far everything has been ordered and except for the anti-static wristband, arrived. So the window and sprayed meshes are done, but I'm going to hold off on starting the other stuff as I've not done it before. Here's the progress: Front and top meshes out of the case. Sprayed and back in their places. Full view of the case, window wasn't started yet. Cut the panel to fit the new window, I was originally going to cut a square but this fit better with the case. The U-channel trim had to be superglued in because it kept popping out. And I used double sided foam tape to attach the window. Window is in and on the case, it's a much tighter fit as some of the foam tape overlaps the perspex, but none of that is visible from the outside. GPU cables were unplugged as I couldn't be bothered moving them and it was only a test fit, they are now plugged back in and snug up against the perspex without being squished. Though it's not perfect and there are a few noticeable marks from leaked superglue and the trim not being the best fit, it's a better result than I thought I'd get. For those of you wondering why there is a microwave in the last picture, we have an open plan downstairs, and due to lack of room in my bedroom, my desk is sandwiched between the end of the kitchen and the corner of our L-shaped sofa. I'll update when the wristband arrives and I can start with the other components, estimated delivery for the 8th though :(.
  13. Thanks for the replies, this looks to be going ahead now with the only problem being that my dad does in-fact not own a dremmel. And I've rethought how I'd make the window, still the same size but I'll be putting U-channel around the edge of the cutout, and a perspex piece on the inside attached with glue or heavy duty double sided tape. I'll be painting the top and front meshes and for the stencil drawing on the window, I simply want the word "Phantom" in a nice blocky / impacty font in the corner. I'll get into Paint.net and try figuring that out somehow. Also, I'll do a build log post for those interested in seeing it, showing how I've made the window, painted the meshes and with the new SP120's,140's, NZXT Hue and possibly a H100i. Mat. EDIT: Front mesh, not bottom :/
  14. I'm planning something similar with my NZXT Phantom 410, what was it you used around the edge of the window to cover up the cuts? And nice job, looks great.
