hey, I just got this computer, it's like 5 years old and it used to work up until it got here. I connected everything and tried to run it. Everything moves blinks and makes noise but no screen signal appears. - I tried replugging everything. - Tried running with one DIMM or none at all. - Tried swapping a CPU. - Checked the screen, it works. - Tried to run it with no hard drive. It contains: - A cpu (I got like 4 more with it though) - 500w PSU - 1GB DDR2 X2, 500MB DDR2 X2 - Motherboard - NO GPU(!) Do you guys have any other suggestions for troubleshooting? Thanks.

Though it comes to the motherboard. The question is how much do I need. Some motherboards support only up to 8gb. Do you guys have any experience with it? I'm looking for a desktop motherboard, hence the cpu mod.

Hi, I am looking to build a second hand computer for decent gaming/general working that will later be allocated to a home server that will host files, gaming servers sometimes and stream content locally. So far I understood that ECC is pointless for me and that PCIe 2.0 16x is enough for a GPU. I will probably be building it around the E5450 Xeon while using the LGA775 mod. Now, my question is how much ram will I need? Does it matter if DDR3 or DDR2? And does anybody have any recommendations for a motherboard, I will run a RAID 1 most likely and perhaps a usb 3.0 add on PCI card. The GPU I have in my mind so far is the 660/660ti. 500w psu. And if there is anything else I have to know, please don't hesitate! Thanks!

What is sampling? What's better higher or lower? Does it matter duo or quad cores? Does it differ in Xeon and Core 2? Ty!
