  1. Thanks a lot, the response time is certainly a interesting read.
  2. I am thinking of buying up to 3 displays, I have enough graphical power to use all of them. Not for gaming tho, just a general work/management station.
  3. I am looking to upgrade my display set-up soon, all my displays are several years old and I have no up-to-date knowledge about displays. As the title suggest, I want to know what quality are important and how they affect the performance of the display. What resolution/aspect ratio is commonly suggested? How does video bandwidth effect the display? how does response time effect the display? Is there any features I should look out for? I know that IPS panels are great for contrast and improve on viewing angle. Let know me know you experiences, thanks guys! EDIT: What do you guys think of vertical display, are they useful?
  4. The case in the link is the has USB 2.0 port in the front. The case in question had USB 3.0, which I can't ant where in UK. Other than that the build looks pretty solid.
  5. What is your budget and where do you live? Sounds like a pretty series/expensive build 4 TB drive sounds a little bit too much just for gaming, I think 2TB would be enough, you can always expand if need later on. With the New Haswell series on the horizon you might want to hold it off a bit later. Personally I think a the Haswell processors at stock is going to be better than and a oc i5. The same goes for the GPUs, you can wait til the GTX 7 series. If you wana water cool and this is your first build, get a all in one/closed loop/after market cooler, h100i or something. If not, then custom water loop might be your only option. Check availability for 660ti waterblock, from where I live, there is none.
  6. What about storage? Do you have one already? Barracuda is great value for price. Also, you might want to keepa a eye got CPU and MRB bundle in the uk, they can be much cheaper sometime.
  7. Where about would one purchase the ''Fractal Design Core 1000 USB 3.0'' case in UK? Thinking of getting it myself. Also, the price of ram and case is not included in the build?.
  8. Feels like a i3 may bottleneck 660 in gaming performance. I would suggest a ssd in the build, To go easy on the budget, you could get a mSATA ssd and run Intel smart response with the z77 chipset. Caching the most frequently used files; best of both worlds.
  9. Hey guys, first post. Need some advice on this Build. I live in UK and don't want to spend more than £450. I am making this build for a Linux, mainly coding, general network management, virtualizing and playing around, no intention of playing game on this box. Need up to 3 displays for this build with potential GPU upgrade. I also may run ram-disk in the future; future proof motherboard support. Small form factor, easy for transport. low noise and low heat signature/temperature. May over clock or under clock. General future proof build. I an currently not sure about the casing and CPU cooler. I really want a simple micro-atx case and the new 350D fits but I think it is a bit over kill for this build. Would like to water cool but not sure which one to use. Corsair link is not compatible with linux. This is what I planned so far: CPU: AMD A8-5600K 3.6GHz Quad-Core Processor (£69.19 @ Aria PC) Motherboard: ASRock FM2A85X Extreme4-M Micro ATX FM2 Motherboard (£68.20 @ Amazon UK) Memory: Patriot Intel Extreme Master, Limited Ed 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 Memory (£86.51 @ Amazon UK) Storage: Samsung 830 Series 64GB 2.5" Solid State Disk (£52.99 @ Dabs) Storage: Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive (£45.98 @ Aria PC) Wireless Network Adapter: TP-Link TL-WN781ND 802.11b/g/n PCI Wi-Fi Adapter (£8.70 @ CCL Computers) Case: Fractal Design Core 1000 MicroATX Mini Tower Case (£28.99 @ Dabs) Total: £360.56 I already have a 350W OEM PSU, I think it should be OK to power everything. I plan to use the SSD as root and ssd for everythig else. The case doesn't support 120mm fan at all; no place to mount all in one/closed loop. I am also looking for a simple mx blue keyboard. Any suggestion and advice are welcome : ) Edit: added more ram, two sticks for dual channel.
