  • Biography
I was Born in the 80s and grew up with in my eyes some of the best technology invented. I become interested in tech at the wee age of 6 when my aunt and uncle looked after me and allowed me to use the Ballin Pentium 133 PC they had for games and the then young internet.
I had a PC of my own by 8 years old and upgraded it thus learning the workings of a PC and how to install and troubleshoot PCS and really the rest is history.

  1. Sadly I'm not managing a RAID5 with caching on this consumer board. Mind you I suppose I could virtualise Windows on Ubuntu, but it depends on the hardware passthrough capabilities as my Windows install is pretty much exclusively for games.
  2. Now that is a shame, but undestandable I suppose given the cost of data redundancy.
  3. Hi guy's I wondered if it would be possible for me to build say a Raidz2 array with some memory and SSD catching and create a large fast redundant volume that I could use to run Ubuntu and Windows 10 in a dual boot configuration thus making my storage easy to expand. Without sacrificing too much of my Ryzen 5 1600. Would that be possible? or is that asking to much?
  4. It's a desktop in my case, but nope the only thing that will give output when I have HDMI connected is my tv, it knocks out my 2 working monitors. If i plug in my third identical monitor via HDMI in place of my TV none of the monitors fire up Edit: They do show up in the display properties but no matter how much faffing I do I can't get get them back in range
  5. I'm getting this kind of. the only way i get around it is: 1: to not use my third monitor as it's the one on HDMI 2: Reboot in Low res mode and run the driver sweeper in my case amdcleanuputility 3: Reboot again and install the drivers For some reason Windows (10 in my case) takes the resolution and Refresh Rate of the first thing connected to the HDMI. It then uses it for every Monitor I have, even if i change the display connected via HDMI. That results in my 3 other monitors being overdriven to 1920 x 1080 at 68hz for some reason. In my case i think it was due to me connecting my tv via hdmi and then trying to connect my third monitor which is only a 900p monitor. Result was that all of my monitors were out of range.
  6. I've also found that removing the graphics drivers before install tends to help the process go more smoothly.
  7. Go into your bios and look for signs of artifacting.
  8. I hope so as 3D printing can be used for many different professions.
  9. Check this out Ladies and Gents, 3D Printing just become more awesome. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/mosaic3d/the-palette-3d-printing-evolved Printing multi coloured projects and items would be absolutely amazing. Imagine the potential for stuff like keycaps.
  10. Ah well I brought my niece a Budsie Instead, Actually can i plug their business on here, as they are rather good at what they do.
  11. If i actually had a Job right now id have already booked, but £400 odd to get there is just way to expensive. well there goes the chance of a lifetime.
  12. It could even be a defective Northbridge chip. It could also be a knackered trace between the PCI-E slots and the Northbridge, maybe a short? (This and the dead NB pretty much means the board should head for the bin) Lastly a ground issue specifically on the 6pin connector. (This one you might be able to test with a Dual molex to 6pin lead)

  14. TBH at this point id normally get the customer to bring the PC to me where i'd dig out an old mobo and try the entire setup in it. Unless there's anything else anyone can think of chances are that either the NB, the CMOS chip or the VRMS have given out on the board, that's now the only thing I can think of given the tests you have done, could you perhaps get your hands on another mobo even if it's an old one?
