Hello everyone, for the last few days I've been experiencing really weird behaviour upon closing my laptop. The device I am using is the HP Envy 13 x360 ag0019nm, the version with the Ryzen 5 2500U.
So, ordinarily, upon closing the laptop, it would almost immediately go to sleep which would be noticed as the fans turning off and the power button light would start blinking for as long as it was asleep, so until i opened it again. What has been happening recently is that if I close the laptop, the fans would ramp up really fast and the device would start really heating up. Mind you, I am not doing any heavy duty stuff on this device, so really no reason for the heat and fanspeed. Also, the power button light stays on the whole time (so no blinking) which I would interpret as the device still not being asleep. If I then open the laptop up, there is nothing but a black screen and I am unable to access anything I've been working with. The only thing I can do is hold the power button and wait for it to forcefully turn off. I also discovered that if I leave the laptop in this state with it heating up and fans running fast it will eventually turn itself off, which could be overheating. Once it's turned off, I can then start the device back up normally, but yesterday for example this prompted the Windows Diagnostic tool to do its thing and even ended up saying it is unable to repair the device, but thankfully I was given an option to just start Windows nonetheless and I didn't notice any new problem with the system. If I am using the device and I put it in sleep mode "manually" by clicking the power button once and then closing the laptop, it remains in sleep normally with the fans turning off and the power light blinking. I've tried looking it up online but I just saw articles and forum threads on laptops overheating, which isn't the exact issue I am experiencing.
