  3. After a recent Windows 7 auto update, My system is acting strange.. In device manager I had one item with a question mark , a Marvell 91XX, which I got to go away by updating my boards BIOS , related drivers, and software suite to the most current ones.. I also have : 41 Base System Device(s) 4 Performance Counters 1 SM Bus Controller 1 System Interrupt Controller all with an exclamation point........... Windows can not identify or locate drivers automatically(but retries every time I boot). Goggling the device ID return no results.... Anyone have any clues on how to resolve this? ASUS P9X79 Deluxe Motherboard (same one as tech tips test bench) Windows 7 64-bit
  4. I have 3- Acer 232HL bid's running 2 560Ti's in SLI . Mostly older games don't support surround, most will just stretch the horizontal and keep the verical the same. I find it too distracting, and just run those games on one screen. Don't know about overclocking them yet, that is new to the Titan and hopefully all the 700 series. With 2 560Ti's I don't really have to worry about getting much higher than the 60 Hz refreash rate. :)
  5. $699 for the 780 6Gb or the 780 3Gb? big differance! also what happened to the 320 bit bus which would have 2.5Gb or 5Gb, where is that gonna be?? Cheaper 780 or more expensive 770?
  6. In SLI you are throwing more GPU power at your games, a pair of smaller higher clocked GPUs always wins out over single slower clocked GPUs in fps, but you can't throw anymore at your games with 2 cheap cards. One bigger card is better, if you need more you can add another, or two! In SLI you don't gain Memory what one card has is all the set up has. At 1080P one 660Ti is enough unless you get a 120Hz monitor I have been running SLI for years and haven't had any problems with it, I have had single flagship cards in the past, went SLI this time, when upgrade time comes I will go back to one big card and add another if its needed, I run surround.
  7. If the SLI bridge was faulty or removed , SLI wouldn't work but you would still be able to select the second card as a Physx Processor in the Nvidia control panel, under Configure SLI,Surround,Physx. See if it shows up in the drop down tab under Physx settings. Options= Auto-select (GPU 1 NAME)1 (GPU 2 NAME) 2 (if installed) CPU
  8. Sorry it is 3 that I have, just don't play it that much. 1Gb of memory is fine on a 550Ti, because the GPU isn't the strongest, add a second GPU and it's on the edge, my 1Gb 560Ti SLI setup could use more but the GPUs cant push much more, they are to busy pushing pixels (6,382,800 of them per frame) My buddy plays battlefield 3 on a 550Ti all the time but he runs a 1280 x 1024 monitor.
  9. I think Nvidia will release the 780 and a few of the 770 with the titan cooler, but leave the 770's to the board partners to make, they are already making them(680) just gotta get the refined parts changed out. Still waiting to see how close it nips at the heels of the titan, If it's as close as I think; Nvidia , SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!!!
  10. $450 cash for a 780 and a visa for the rest :)
  11. 3d tvs can only acept 48Hz 3d, Nvidia 3d needs a 120Hz monitor with their glasses, AMD's 3d needs software.
  12. You could just install afterburner and click the little box that says show GPU usage for both GPU 1 and 2 in the OSD section. Than when your gamming you can see fps and GPU useage, If GPU is 100% and GPU is 0%. than you know sli isn't working. If both are at 50% something is holding back your GPUs, if both are 100% SLI is working and maybe you were expecting 680 SLI performance out of 660s. Sometimes we build stuff up in our minds than reality sets in.
  13. Personally I wouldn't SLI anything lower than 660Ti's , and for the money that they cost would I save alot on a 670, than get another later, or just buy a Titan if I was buying now. But I am not buying now I'm waiting to see if they did the right things to the 780 or is it just a gap filler. It all depends on what you want to do also, you can look cool and save alot if your gaming one on a 19 inch monitor with old games, just buy someones old SLI setup when they upgrade. The 650Ti boost are new cards and Nvidia is asking too much for the 600 series in my opnion. 7970s are under $400 right now , so for 50 % more your gonna get 2% more performance and look cool. If you want Nvidia (don't blame you if you do) a 680 is 10% cheaper for 7 % slower performance a 670 is also 50% cheaper for 14% less performance and you got $200 bucks towards another one If you want to run higher resolutions in the future (30 inch or surround) I would rather have a $600 Monitor than throw $600 worth of graphic cards at one 1080 p monitor. It will be awsome for about a 6 months than you will realize thats as far as you can go with those cards, because one is made to play most games without all the eye candy on with one 1080p monitor. 2 will give you stupid fps, but if your not buying a 120Hz monitor there is no point.
  14. I have 2-560Ti's 1Gb cards in SLI and can run Borderlands 2 across 3 screens at 5910 x 1080 mostly keeping 60fps, it drops to 55 sometimes in some parts. The game is maxed out with Phsyx at medium(high fills the screen with to much junk in the higher levels so I scaled it back a bit). But other games Like battlefield 4, or Crysis 2 , I cant keep the framerates up, or I run out of memory, or GPU power, so I play those on one screen. So one 660Ti might play some older games across 3, but most older games don't support surround, so. but get a second one and you will be fine.
