  1. Those look good, but I am trying to find top or side printed ones (I know I should really learn to type without looking at the keyboard)
  2. Hey guys, I'm trying to find a set of PBT translucent keycaps for a new keyboard that I bought recently. The Vortex Doubleshot set looks great but I can't find it in stock anywhere online. I know AliExpress has a few alternatives, but I'm not sure about how good they are. I know that a set of Doubleshot PBT Translucent keycaps are rare to begin with, not to mention the fact that I want them in black. I'd appreciate any help/leads on where I can find a set.
  3. I finally got around to posting a build blog. Sorry for the delay! https://shriviews.com/2016/10/08/pc-build-blog-2016/ I'll create a separate post for this if required by the rules.
  4. I bought and modified a Rosewill RK-9000 a year ago. Got it used off eBay and replaced the stock keycaps with Doubleshot PBT Keycaps. It's a Cherry MX Brown board, and I use it at work. My personal favorite are MX Blue switches though, and I recently bought a cheap back-lit mechanical keyboard (iogear mechlite) with Kailh Blue switches and I'm liking it so far. My initial impressions:The kailh switches are about 80-90% similar to Cherry MX Blues, but some of the keys do make a barely noticeable ping/ringing sound when pressed. I've attached images of the modified RK-9000. Apologies in advance for the potato quality.
  5. Alright. Thanks for the help! I might post a build update/progress post or something like that.
  6. Alright. My only question now is the choice of monitor, and whether the current build will be able to run games smoothly on high settings if I decide to go for a multi-monitor 1080p setup in the future.
  7. Alright, thanks! My thought process with going for the 1060 instead of the RX480 was that I can swap out the 1060 in the future with another graphics card (something like a 1070 equivalent of the future), rather than going with the upgrade path of buying a second RX480 for crossfire. Even though the RX480 has a slight advantage in terms of Vulkan or DX12 performance, I feel like that will be evened out in the next couple of years.
  8. Oh, I thought a stock cooling fan would come standard with these processors. I'm buying from a brick and mortar store so verifying that should not be a problem. I'd also need thermal paste if I get the 212 Evo, right?
  9. Alright, thanks! Is kinguin one of those grey market dealers? I'd like to be all above board as much as possible. EDIT: You mentioned a better monitor, could you suggest some options?
  10. I'm planning to build my first gaming PC, and I am hoping to play at 1080p, high settings, and 60 fps. I opted for the GTX 1060 because I also need to factor in the cost of the OS and peripherals. I'd appreciate any advice as to how to optimize the price/performance ratio. I do not intend to overclock so I have not gone for the k variant of the processor, or the overclock compatible motherboard. I might upgrade the graphics card a year or two down the line. 11. @cheeze_tartz the $60 price point opens up a lot more options, of course.
  12. @DarkBlade2117 Alright then, I guess I'll look into that. I just want the mouse to not break after just a few months of use. Thanks for the suggestion!
  13. Alright, my only concern with this is whether it will suit a palm grip. It looks a bit on the smaller side. Would the Logitech G100s or something of that sort be good too?
  14. Hello everyone, I am looking for a mouse for light FPS gaming. I have been using this Microsoft mouse (http://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-Optical-Mouse-200-Black/dp/B003FOWIXK/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1432010214&sr=1-1&keywords=microsoft+optical+mouse+200) for about 6 months now but the left click does not work properly anymore. Now I'm looking to buy a mouse that'll last for a longer time, and fits more comfortably for a palm grip style of use. I think I would like some extra buttons, but that's not a necessity. I want to get a wired mouse, not a wireless one. I also used this generic HP mouse (http://www.amazon.com/HP-Button-Optical-KY619AA-ABA/dp/B0029L0IM8/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1432010235&sr=1-1&keywords=hp+mouse) and found it comfortable for my use rather than the quite small Microsoft mouse. My budget is $30 to $40 for this, but I don't want to skimp on build quality and longevity. Comfort for a palm grip style is most important to me. I have never used any of the extra features like DPI switching or using more than the usual 3 buttons on a mouse so I don't think that would really be a deal-breaker if it wasn't present. I hope you guys can help me choose a mouse, as I don't really know much about the performance metrics and looking online has been quite confusing for me.
  15. Alright, along with the ones you mentioned, these seem to be a close second option: http://www.ebay.com/itm/301521178669?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT (Also, I'm not even thinking about Dolch and the like, they are far too expensive) Thanks!
