  1. Oh and YES. The H100 fits into the Storm Scout 2. Top mounted, ofc.
  2. If it actually has to be a news gfxcard 'today' then.. I would go for that one.. http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=22948 I wouldnt even consider buying a 7970 tbh. The performance increase is like 'What performance increase?' .. :p You're better off, getting a 7950, tweak it a bit and be done :) However, I would recommend waiting on first benchmarks of the 770/780. Two weeks left for it to hit the market ;)
  3. Its funny tho. My dogs kinda curious, almost as curious and ofter even more curious than my cats. Everytime I work on my PC or build a new one even, my cats jump onto the table and relax inside the case. They gimme that look that should tell me "Wow, thats comfy in here - And so spacious. You know, that could very well be my new home." or something like that. Watching the cats do their thing, my dog desperatly tries to get onto the table too. Then starts to realize "Me? JUMPING UP THERE? Bad idea, dude." and starts chewing on that mainboard box. Its funny cuz its like watching a comedy movie. As much as I enjoy PC stuff, I've to admit, I enjoy those moments even more :) B2T Get that build going, daaaaaaamn ;D
  4. Depends if shazzam66 is running his PC 24/7, an Intel Core-i5 or even i7 will be beneficial to his powerbills.. On the other hand, getting an Z77 or even a Z87 board and the corresponding CPU adds up to like 400-600$ depends on the board and the CPU. The 3570k isn't faster as the FX8350. Single tasks its neck to neck. Multitasks and CPU intensive tasks (like rendering) the AMD wins. + The FX8350 is cheaper than the 3570k. + Shazzam66 already got a board for the 8350k. + the difference in price could better be invested in a h100/h110 or something like that. Cuz the 8350 overclocks like a friggin lord. :> @ shazzam66 If you really were to go for a new board, anything with 990FX would be fine. If that's the case, I would consider buying the MSI 990FXA-GD65 or Gigabyte's GA-990FXA-UD3. They should both be around 100$. ... Me personally, think it would be dumb to throw a board away just for looks. You would be better off with a nice'n'easy h100i/h110 cpucooler. ... But thats just me ;)
  5. At any rate ... The hot air shroud phenomenon aside. Let's take a look at this link: Thermal conductivity chart Funny story, tho. Air < (some Woods) < Water < Copper Enough trashtalk? I'm already looking for other charts. Like dampening materials vs. air vs. water in W/cm²
  6. Your dog didnt approve it, it seems. xD At least, lets just say - That beauty looks kinda bored. Talking about the dog... :P
  7. Nah, wait for the 700series to launch. NVidia already stated its due to launch within May. Thats a mere two weeks window. Wait for it and hopefully see some prices sink like the titanic. Or even go with a brandnew GTX770 that is said to be ~350$ Here's a link (in german tho) stating that GTX770 & 780 are to be launchen in May 2013. And the 760 Ti shall arrive to be shown at Computex in June. http://www.3dcenter.org/artikel/der-lange-weg-zu-den-ersten-20nm-grafikkarten
  8. PowerColor and VTX3D 7870s are still listed to be powered by a Tahiti LE GPU. However, there should be the 8000 series around the corner - since nVidia already announced their 700 series. On the other hand, its 'just' 200$ for an awesome graphicscard. If I were in your shoes, I would just buy the FX8350. Maybe 2 additional RAM Sticks to go up to 16GB RAM and leave everything else as is - for another month at least. The pricing might fall alot, once AMDs 8000 or NVidias 700 series reaches the market. Edit: As I just recalled, I'd seen a spreadsheet somewhere on the webz, showing the 780 with a Titan GPU at ~600$. That's worth checking out.
  9. I would save that budget for later or simply do something like: Mobo: No upgrade necessary, if you were to stay with AMD. GPU: If you could get your hands on a 7870 with the 'Tahiti LE' GPU, go for that one. It's 100$ cheaper and performs better than the 7950 in most cases almost similiar to a 7970. CPU: You could get yourself the 8Core-beast 'AMD FX 8350' and be fine. Cooler: Something like Corsair H110/H100, Swifttechs H220 or NZXT Kraken X60 As for pricing: (Mobo) + 200$ + 180$ + 100$ = (Mobo) + 480$
  10. You made my day, sir. I just woke up and I get to laugh to my hearts content, what a wonderful way to start a new day.. Thank you! And I've to say, you're right - entirely - with everything. We've just been trolling you. Hell yeah, earths a disc and the center of your universe. I shouldve studied in the early 1920s, too. Cuz thats some wisdom you got there. *jelly*
  11. The human body still generates heat. Its not the same because ones electric the others organic? Cmon. Its technically identical. And the "silicon" lottery doesnt necessary limit your gpu/cpus overclocking potential as is, the heat does. When your processing unit isnt quite an A++ type silicion it means you've to crank up the voltage, hence more heat. Thats where watercooling comes into place. More heat generated calls for a better cooling solution. Talking about epeen and shit, do you actually cool your cpu with a boxed cooler? Or did you stepped it up a bit and got yourself a tower heatsink with 3 fans on it?
  12. The heat at stockspeeds or slightly overclocked isnt a issue at all, thats right. But watercooling gives you two advantages, better heatdissapation hence more headroom for higher overclocks and with enough radiatorsurface a silent computing experience. It's not just for looks ;)
  13. Comparing 1 7850 to quad 7970's in terms of heat.. Well, you gents are comparing a lighter with a raptor engine.. Back to topic. How about selling your existing graphic solution and take a pair of 7870s (Tahiti LE) watercooled. That should be ~600$. BUT! I would wait on the next gen cards now. The GTX780 is rumored to be a titan GPU for just ~500$ (with less memory, but still...)
  14. It sounds better than I'd pictured. In comparison to the picture I'd in mind over the last couple of years it actually sounds like a heavenly enviroment to work in :o
  15. Well.. I'm an ASUS fan myself, kinda.. But I would actually buy a Gigabyte Board. If its again, better suited for the task and less expensive than ASUS's solutions ;) Edit: I'd no broken Gigabyte board, up until now.. A fried BIOS, ya - happens all the time. "Dual BIOS" comes in handy .. However, most ASUS Boards up to the Rampage3 kinda gave up on me, within 6 months or less ^^
  16. Look at that, TTL just released two Z87 motherboard previews. - - Cant wait for Linus to waltz in and present some benchmarks :D
  17. Yes, thats right. However Z87 will provide you with at least 2 mechanic PCIe3 16x slots. Here is an article (in german, sadly) that has some info on MSI's Z87 gaming grade board. 3 PCIe gen3 16x Slots (all wired up, completely) 3 PCIe 1x Slots 6 Sata3 Ports 6 USB3 Ports (on the rear I/O)
  18. Is it 200$ price difference in India? Here in Germany its the other way around :D The 3820 is 20€ cheaper than the 3770k. Its the motherboard thats kinda cost heavy. In terms of Haswell, it will prolly serve you: Some, maybe only Sata3 ports Almost 90% certain that it will ship decked out with usb3 (no more usb2) With at least 2 completely wired PCIe gen3 16x slots (maybe even 3), and that im 100% certain of. While performance might not be that much better than the 3770k at stock. It might be beneficial to wait and see if it overclocks better. My personal opinion on your topic would be to wait and see. At least do yourself a favor and wait on Linus, testing the 4770k to show you a comparison and benchmarks.. Hell even a sneak peak on those Z87 board(s) he'll get his hands on.
  19. If I may ask, what do you plan to use your system on? Give us some info on that and we might actually be able to help you even better :)
  20. True dat. Cost comparison: Asus Rampage 4 Extreme 350€ + Intel Core i7-3820 260€ = 610€ Asus Maximus 5 Extreme 320€ + Intel Core i7-3770k 280€ = 600€ Asus Maximus 5 Formula 250€ + Intel Core i7-3770k 280€ = 530€ Asus Maximus 5 Formula 250€ + Intel Core i7-3570k 200€ = 450€ Links to 'geizhals.de/eu' since you live in Belgium. It comes down to what you plan to do in the future or what you plan to do in the next 12 months. If you want to buy a new PC the next or the year after anyways - go with the formula + 3570k and change your whole platform then. OR Get the 2011 Socket for 160€ more and upgrade whenever you see fit and whatever you think might actually benefit your computing experience :D
  21. German Internet - like 20kilometres from any major city, in the middle of nowhere.
  22. Nah, ain't happening. I wont buy crappy built Displays with "a bit better than" Korean Panels.. Just can't see it. Rather starve for a month and buy a Monitor thats worth it.. If I were to shop for a new Monitor right now, I would choose one of the following - depending on what I would use it for. For FPS games I would buy the BenQ XL2420T, for RTS/MMO gaming Eizo FS2333-BK and for casually watching dat Linus: BenQ BL2400pu As a matter of fact, I can vouch for the Eizo. While its not everyones taste in looks, it actually performs outstanding. Almost as good as the 120/144Hz Displays out there, in FPS games that is. Other than that, its an IPS Panel Monitor with TN-like pixelresponsetime and input-lag.
