  1. It's still reinforces Madison's experience to some degree that they thought it would be ok to make that joke in an "apology" video.
  2. According to Billet, LTT doesn't have the block yet, so they can't send it back today. They just confirmed it's not with a competitor and that it's "likely he can get the block back from the buyer."
  3. Do you want to elaborate? Steve generally brings receipts, like when he's called out MSI, NewEgg, NZXT and now LTT...
  4. He doesn't as evidenced by the Billet Labs video IMO. He said no one should buy the incredibly niche product. This is coming from the guy who sold $10,000 whale tickets to LTX... The people who can afford a $10,000 whale ticket are the exact people who I'd expect to buy the Billet Labs cooler once it was a final product. His comments that it wasn't a good product are also incredibly bad takes. It's a prototype, that means it's not the final f'ing product. It would be like reviewing their first version of the LTT screwdriver which (was probably awful compared to the final one), and saying that no one should buy the final product.
  5. I'm not saying there's no benefit. The claim was that they're making money on the video. They categorically are not.
  6. How is GN making money off of it? The video isn't monetized, there's no sponsor, they don't have a link to their store in the description or anywhere in the video. When they call out MSI or NewEgg, they've still put their own links in the video.
  7. To me, it looks like Linus is adopting the Silicon Valley mindset of "Move fast and break things" (sometimes literally). Which is fine when he's remodeling his house, or doing silly projects. But when it's a GPU review that people will be relying on because he has millions of subscribers, its unacceptable. I understand that GPU manufacturers aren't making it easy by setting embargo dates that are the same date that reviewers get cards, but as a reviewer, you need to provide accurate information first and foremost.
  8. I'm not saying his laptop reviews have been negative without justification. It's just that if I were ASUS/Dell/Razer/etc... and a review about my product came back more negative than expected, I'd be concerned about a conflict. And I also wouldn't want to be Linus in that situation.
  9. Terren still reports to Linus and Yvonne as they're the Board of Directors.
  10. IIRC it's only when he's the host. When it's a Short Circuit video hosted by Alex or another host, the investment in Framework is not mentioned in the video. I can't recall if it's in the video description, but since Linus is the controlling entity over LMG and IIRC reviews most scripts, it's still concerning.
  11. IMO any laptop reviews (or other possible conflicts) should be: 1. Hosted by a non-Linus host; and 2. Have the script reviewed and approved by someone other than Linus, essentially skipping Linus in the process.
  12. Steve does say "Linus has personally invested $200k in Framework". But I don't think it really matters whether its LTT/LMG or Linus's own cash. Linus and Yvonne are the sole/majority shareholders for LMG (IDK if Luke/Nick/other C Suite has any). As such, utilizing LTT to promote a brand that he has a personal investment in, or any negative coverage of their competitor can be seen as a conflict since he personally stands to gain when Framework gets good press.
  13. "All the front IO is just, right on the board so there's no internal wiring. That's pretty cool." Or as the rest of the community calls it, wasteful. It means the case can't be re-used with another motherboard, and the motherboard can't be used with another case. Which coming from someone who normally champions repairability is a bit disappointing.
  14. In the video Linus says they bought 8 GPUs, the graphs reflect that (with the exclusion of the ELSA card). Why is the video title "I Bought 10 Off-Brand GPUs…"
  15. Do you have any hard drives? It could be one that's beginning to fail. You could try taking the side panel off and putting your ear near the drive to see if it's the thing making noise.
