  1. Thank you for the insight, I believe that will be my solution, replacing the PSU. Thank you (and the poster above!).
  2. Something strange has been happening of late, and I have been able to pinpoint how it happens, just not the why or be sure where the problem comes from. Basically, whenever I'm in one of those cases where the GPU really isn't fully stressed (playing an older or less demanding game), it suddenly restarts. No blue screen, no errors, nothing on the event viewer except the kernel power (ID 41), it just restarts. I believe something is tripping some protection in the PSU, but I'm not sure, and I don't have another PSU to test. My GPU does have a bit of coil whine in these situations, when the load is not very high, but it has had it from new, and only recently did I start having this reboot behaviour. PSU is a Seasonic Focus Plus Gold 750W. GPU in question is an RTX 3080 10GB Trinity from Zotac. Some other specs that may be relevant: Ryzen 5800X3D, 32GB DDR4, 3200Mhz, Gigabyte Aero X570s. I have done all the traditional checks, temperatures are normal (PC is watercooled, custom loop with CPU and GPU), removed all OCs, stress tested memory, CPU and GPU (different benchmarks and stress tests), and everything works as normal, and no errors on any test. I've been able to accurately reproduce this problem with two games: Guild Wars 2 and Divinity: Original Sin 2. Also, it doesn't happen straight away, sometimes I can play for 10-20 mins or more, sometimes it happens less than one minute in. In modern titles this does not happen.
  3. Hello guys, I started having a strange issue on my PC. I have 2 SSDs (and a HDD), one for boot and most work-related programs, another for general storage (mostly games). The SSD in question is a Crucial MX300, SATA but M.2 format, connected to an X470-f ASUS motherboard. Since yesterday, that drive randomly disappears and reappears, but this only happens when under a GPU load. I'm getting WHEA-Logger errors when this happens (and by converting the raw hex data from the error, the SSD name appears among the garble), together with event ID 157 (disk has been surprise removed) and event ID 51 (Error detected on Device\Harddisk2 during a paging operation). Less frequently, among these errors I get some storahci "Reset to device, \Device\RaidPort0, was issued." errors (I'm not using RAID for my drives). GPU is an RTX 3080, watercooled. Later in the day I'm going to try and remove the SSD to see if it solves the issues, but I'll need to drain the loop to reach it, since the SSD is behind the GPU. When under a GPU load, I get no artifacts or image corruption, but if the game in question is installed on the problematic SSD, it crashes. If not, they work, but start stuttering (though FPS stay high, and all GPU metrics appear normal, including normal temperatures, clocks, usage. etc.). I believe it might be GPU-induced due to the M.2 slots being connected to the PCI-E BUS (but they're operating in SATA mode with these SSDs, so I'm not sure if that still holds). I did check the SMART data, ran crystaldisk info and the benchmark on the SSD, but no errors or strange behaviours happened. It really only happens when under a GPU load (be it games, furmark, etc.). I tried underclocking the gpu to see if it might be some instability on that part, but the behaviour is the same. The HDD is not having any errors given. Sometimes I do get some errors related to the main boot drive (the other SSD, same brand and model), but they are only of this type "Windows cannot access the file C:\Windows\System32\devinv.dll for one of the following reasons: there is a problem with the network connection, the disk that the file is stored on, or the storage drivers installed on this computer; or the disk is missing. Windows closed the program Host Process for Windows Services because of this error.", for some different files, mainly log files, and these only happen after the other SSD had the hardware fault error and surprise removed events, so I'm thinking these might be caused by the other SSD indirectly. In the meanwhile, since I'm working until late and cannot really dismantle the PC right now, my other "fear" is the following: I had tried to do some mining with the 3080 (I mean, with the absurd values of crypto I thought, "If it is for a few hours, when I'm not using the PC, what harm can it do?" I did undervolt the gpu to ensure temperatures did stay low) but I find it hard that after 3 days it might have caused damage to the gpu. As the SSD is nearly 7 years old, I'm thinking more coincidence on this part. Did anyone ever have something similar happening? I'll update the post once I've removed the SSD later in the day. EDIT: Well, I removed the SSD and all problems disappeared. So it's either the SSD or the port on the motherboard, but such a strange interaction with the GPU... EDIT2: Now the other SSD started giving these errors, but no longer only under a GPU load. Now they just happen randomly...
  4. The Techpowerup preview says the review will be out on the 14th, so that's most likely the date the review NDA lifts.
  5. Hmm, one of the accumulators started and the sound did happen again... Seems like I might need to check the grounding again. Thank you! They are on the same breaker (vacuum was on the hall, but I know these outlets are on the same breaker). My doubt was if this was normal or if it could be a PSU issue.
  6. So, something strange just happened. I started noticing some kind of electrical buzz in my PSU (a Seasonic Focus Plus 750W), but it only happens when I have the vacuum cleaner turned on (not even in the same room). It's more strange since the electrical installation isn't that old and is fully grounded. Could it be an issue with the PSU or just some strange behaviour?
  7. Did not have an Epic Chroma, but I ended up changing my Naga 2014 because of that same issue. Sent it back, the new one did the same from time to time. Even tried in other PCs, and it would happen, either with Synapse installed or not. I guess it's some kind of firmware issue, sometimes using the mousepad calibration tool solved the problem for a month or two, but it always came back. I ended up replacing mine with a logitech g602; as much as I loved it's feel in the hand, the random freezes and spazzes were too annoying to use in day-to-day. Try to use the calibration tool to see if it goes away, that's the only thing that temporarily fixed it for me.
  8. I actually did what you are planning, got the PC in the room next door and I made a hole in the wall from where I passed several cables. I got a USB 3.0 powered cable, and have a 7-port powered hub where i connect all peripherals. Long HDMI and DisplayPort cables for the monitors. In my case I did not have thunderbolt nor USB 3.1, so it ended up being the best solution. I believe there are several 3.1 docks that may work, but I would check compatibility first. Plugable has one called the Triple Display Dock, there's the Lapdock from DisplayLink and the Wavlink docking station, to name a few, but all these are quite expensive, and usually these things don't have 100% compatibility with every motherboard. I did my setup for less than 50€, including the hub, while most of these docks will be more likely around 150-200.
  9. I have had one for three years now, and I can say that the quality leaves a bit to be desired... two keys have broken their stems already, ESC and CTRL, and the spacebar light no longer lights up. However, I love the feeling of typing on this keyboard, the media keys and volume wheel are quite useful and well placed, and it is not overly "noisy" as MX blues are, so I can type at night without waking up the whole house.
  10. I upgraded to Windows 10, and I'm on the anniversary update patch
  11. I'm having an audio issue through HDMI on my GTX 970. For some reason, I have no HDMI audio output option in sound devices. I have my pc connected to a TV and due to this problem I don't have audio on the TV speakers. I already attempted to reinstall NVIDIA drivers, even doing a clean install. I remember that before Windows 10 I did not have this issue, as I sent audio to my monitor at the time. One particularity of my system is it being based on the MSI GS30, that laptop with an external GPU dock. If the HDMI output is sent from the internal Intel gpu (with the laptop disconnected from the dock) there are no issues, but I do not have any other pc with a nvidia gpu to be certain it's a vendor thing. The most strange thing is the TV appears as an audio capable device in the NVIDIA control panel, but not on Windows sound panel. Does anyone have any idea of what the issue might be? Sorry if this is the wrong section, wasn't sure if I should leave this on the gpu or the audio forum...
  12. Have you tried the hard reset button? It's hidden under the sim card flap, it's a small red button, you can press it with a sharp pencil.
  13. As the owner of a Z1, I sincerely hope the camera lives up to the Sony brand standard, I feel somewhat ashamed when an iPhone 4 (not kidding) ends up getting better shots most of the time. If they do it this time, and if they solved the snapdragon overheating problems, this will be one of the best smartphones of 2015, it will tick every box, camera, display, construction, and front facing speakers (how most brands are still placing them in the rear is beyond me...). Also, the frosted glass back is the best idea they ever had, no more fingerprints all over the place!
  14. Wish the best of luck on this new iteration of LMG! Keep up the awesome work. Username: Ithenius Videos: https://www.vessel.com/videos/JYZEYDYx0 https://www.vessel.com/videos/JemZ8O7Hy
