  1. I use Premiere Pro. I'm deciding between the 5820k and the 4970 (non-k, I do not OC my hardware at all.) The difference in price is quite substantial due to the X99 motherboard and DDR4 ram. It's about £200/$300. I need to know if it's really worth it.
  2. I'm currently looking into a GTX 970 4GB for editing 1080p in Premiere Pro. I need the previews to run smoothly, at least at 1/2 res and be able to do multi-cam video without any issues. Final rendering time doesn't matter much to me, but pre-rendering/preview is extremely important. Who wants to edit video that won't even playback smoothly?! Are there any other GPUs I should be looking into for use with Premiere? I can get a GTX 970 4GB for £250 from Zotac, but all the other ones are much more expensive. I'd like/have considered a 980 but that's out of my budget. I also plan on possibly fitting an aftermarket cooler to keep things silent/cool as this is going into a workstation.
  3. Thanks for the quick response, really appreciate it 1. I prefer having a backup GPU from the onboard GPU incase something happens and am willing to pay extra for that. 2. I already planned on added another 8GB stick, and maybe even another after that. Depends on how it goes. Media production generally requires a shit ton of RAM. 3. I don't like SSDs, because my software takes up a lot of space and they're not reliable enough for me. The black drive is for the OS, Green is for temporary downloads/work and Red is for backup. Do you guys think I would see better performance in video editing with an ATi card or a GTX 980?
  4. Sup peeps I'm planning a new build around May or something like that. My computer will have a lot of heavy use, such as Adobe Premiere, a bit of AutoCAD for university as well as music production in Cubase/Pro Tools as I'm a part-time semi-pro musician. My main concern is whether my CPU and GPU will actually be enough to do what I want to with this build, which is to be able to pre-render very quickly in order to be able edit my videos fast. To put things in perspective, I'm still running a Q6600, 8GB DDR2 and a HD5850. I take good care of my shit and like it to last a long time. I will not be overclocking due to personal preferences, hence the non-k CPU. I'll use a high-end CPU cooler to just make things hilariously stable. I'd like opinions and suggestions on the vital components - that being CPU, GPU, the importance of having faster memory etc. Components such as the Case, CPU Cooler, HDDs etc are all personal preferences and I'm looking for help on mainly the core power of the system. Anyway, here's what I'm working with. I have considered upgrading to a 6 core CPU, but I'd like to know if this is really necessary and would make it easier to do things such as multi-cam etc. This stuff is really important to me. However, If I were to do this that would mean I'd need to delay getting the GPU by a few months.
