  1. Congrats on the milestone!! I remember finding your channel and this wonderful community back when I was building my first computer. Now I'm taking my a+ certification and plan on being an IT tech, how far we all have come! Here's to a million more
  2. So I think I settled on a final build, I can get a local store to price match all the items plus about 300 dollars extra for a 3 year warranty http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/p/f4KP8d total of $2765
  3. Yeah a large ssd is really nice, but I'm of the opinion that a 120/128gb ssd is a great starting point. It frees up a bit of the budget and it is really easy to add another ssd down the road.
  4. funny, my first choice psu was an evga 850w G2 but the price at my local computer store was recently hiked up to $200 so I went with the silverstone to keep costs down. hopefully I can get them to pricematch newegg. As for the 5820k vs 5930k, I happen to think the extra 12 PCI-E lanes is worth it for future expandability. also 128gb is plenty of space for an OS and a few games.
  5. please read the notes on the original post. the memory used is a placeholder for equivalently priced ddr4 that is also linked in the post
  6. I'm building a new PC for a friend of mine with a total budget of $2800. However his big condition was that every component had to have at least a 3 year in-store replacement plan on it. This lowers both my overall budget as well as limiting the number of places to buy parts from. The computer will be used for xsplit/OBS streaming, gaming (high/ultra at 1080p) as well as video editing and possibly 3d modeling down the road. Overclocking wont be an issue for now so I'm sticking with cheap cooler like the CM Hyper 212 Evo. Attached are a few builds I've been working on. Feedback would be much appreciated. NOTE: The build with 5960X processor would reuse a 670 sli setup from a previous computer NOTE 2: I realize X99 will use DDR4 memory but system configurator that i used wouldn't allow me to add DDR4. The memory used is of equivalent price to its ddr4 counterpart within 30 dollars (16GB and 32GB)
  7. Also be sure you have the 8-pin cpu power connector plugged in check that the cpu fan header didn't wiggle loose

  9. layer cake safe avengers pulp fiction
  10. At the moment, Fallout New Vegas, Hotline Miami and Awesomenauts
  11. Well I switched to hdmi temporarily to test your suggestion. Even with onboard graphics disabled the discrete isnt detected by the game
  12. use hfs explorer to move the data from the mac drive to the pc then partition the drive
  13. That will format the drive and OP will lose all the data on the drive
  14. HFS explorer will let you browse the drive http://lmgtfy.com/?q=HfsExplorer
