  1. I am in the process of spec'ing out a CAD workstation for my company to evaluate. The catch is I must use HP computers (due to a contract in place) so I am limited in configurations I can use. Since my CAD programs are single thread bound, I want to go with i7-6700k. But the HP workstations only offer Xeon processors. I can get a gaming HP rig, but those doe not offer the Quadro GPUs. So what should I do? Piecing it together myself isnt really an option. Is the e5-1630 Xeon close enough to the 6700k? Maybe HP will configure something else over the phone? Thoughts on what I should do? Side note: Why do the big prebuilt companies keep pushing Xeon's for CAD stations where it seems i7's outperform them ?
  2. In for one. The price is justified IMO since I only replace monitors ever 6+ years.
  3. The only negative comments in the reviews are the price and dropping frames with NVidia cards (for the Freesync version). What did you read?
  4. October time frame sucks. I need (want) a monitor now. I guess the benefit is the potential drop in price for the 980 ti's by then.
  5. What are the true specs of 34UC87? LG has it listed as 75hz, but Newegg has it at 60hz ? Also, how big of a difference does Gsync really make? Why doesn't LG offer this with Gsync?
  6. I have one. I had a Cooler Master Seidon 240m that only lasted a few months before the pump died. I RMA'd it and replaced it with the h110i GT and couldn't be happier.
  7. I think you may have missed the ultrawide comment or "3440 x 1440" resolution which isn't exactly 1440p. I guess 1440p isn't the correct title for ultrawides.
  8. I've been digging around and various articles say different things. But the bottom line is I am really interested in the new ultra-wide format but would love to have one with Freesync/Gsync. The downside is their lower refresh rates but lets be hones, it will be hard to push new games on ultra settings at 100+ FPS, so it would seem goign with an adaptive sync monitor trumps a high refresh monitor. Are there any of these coming to market? The few I found turned out to be 1080p once released. My second question is can a single 980 or 290x lock in 60FPS on 3440 x 1440 resolution? I will be waiting to see how the 290x / 980ti play out but would like some baselines to go by assuming those force the current card prices even further.
