  1. 1. Budget & Location ~500US give or take. Depending on how good the deal is or how much bang for my buck I'd get, etc. 2. Aim Gaming at 144hz to take advantage of my monitor. 1080p is fine, 1440 would be better, etc. All games, Doom, Wolfenstein, Overwatch, etc. etc. etc. Looking at getting into doing game reviews and maybe Twitch. So streaming / video recording would be good too. 3. Monitors / 4. Peripherals You can see these in my build listed below. 5. Why are you upgrading? It's fun. I enjoy it. It's my hobby. Got a big bonus from work. etc :-). I would usually buy gaming headphones so I could get the Mic, but I have a Blue Yeti Mic. So maybe it's time to upgrade my ears? The post talks about getting a set of studio monitoring headphones, and then a DAC / Headphone Amplifier. Any one experience this or have any opinions? 2 - Windows 10 My version of Windows 8.1 came through an old .edu account via Microsoft Dreamspark and wasn't given the option to upgrade to Windows 10. Upgrade worth it? 3 - GTX 1080 More FPS, more fun, more 144hz, etc.... 4 - HTC Vive My machine is pretty good as it. I actually haven't gone through and ran the "VR TEST" off of steam. 5 - Other? 128 GB SSD is small. Maybe go bigger? Upgrade my CPU? Though I don't believe this is my current bottleneck. New Chair? - My chair is... working? Tall on the back, comfy enough, etc. Other? Thoughts? Looking for opinions. In my position what would you do?

  3. This is the build I already have, so I already have the RAM. I'd be more tempted for the Video Card. I think I can get some good power out of my 4770k with the H80i cooling it. Haha, I got the X12's around a year and half ago during my 'Console Gaming' days. Just haven't replaced them yet. Really tempted to grab a nice Wireless set. I'm tempted at the 980's. I wanted a 970 for awhile then the 'issues' arose :-\. Nothing? :-(. Wait for the next gen I suppose? Scrapped the i7-4770k from another build my friend no longer needed. :-). And the storage is from other machines. The build posted is my current build and is semi-Frankenstein in the sense that it's put together from many other machines.
  4. I'm most tempted at a Video Card, but perhaps it would be better to wait at this point? Or maybe something else? **GOAL** - Feed my addiction.... Play all games over 144 frames (to take advantage of my screen) on as close to ultra as possible. **PRICE** - 1 reasonably priced item that would be the best bang for my buck. 5. I don't mind waiting until the second quarter of this year... though given that it may be tempting to get a new monitor and then a video card come 2nd quarter....
  6. Budget ~ 300$, give or take. Shown below is my current set up. I am most tempted to get a new Monitor, something that will support 144hz. Then my old monitor can go to my peasant box so I can play The Last Of Us, FF13, etc. I am also tempted at getting a GTX 970, though I'm told I'll probably want a better monitor to take advantage of that card. Or perhaps there is something else that is more 'bang for the buck'? (I know I posted something similar to this around 20 days ago give or take, however my budget has changed, etc. So I am looking for more thoughts) Thanks in advance!! 7. So I'm REALLY tempted at getting a GTX970 + Case, and then just selling my R9 280x. I think that might be make my dollar go farthest. Any last thoughts before I pull the trigger??
  8. PICTURES - Chair - http://i.imgur.com/XQlJdAc.jpg - Wow that looks like crap... honestly it's not that bad. I think the angle of the picture and how it's one of those materials where if you rub it one way it's grey and the other it's black. I also have a cat, as you can see by the paw prints. Machine - http://i.imgur.com/Zcqa56l.jpg - I got fans for Christmas, they bought ones with Blue Lights... I didn't mind... they are nice and quiet. Desk - http://i.imgur.com/DBtjmKt.jpg - There's a full look at the desk. I am thinking about taking off some of the extras and throwing a second monitor on there. However I'd need to get a 2nd monitor to do that. I also have some peasantry there... I enjoy dabbling in it. There are a few things that make it worth it (IE - Journey, The Last Of Us, etc.) Oh, and the lint roller is for the mouse pad... those cat hairs annoy me and mess up the mouse tracking.
  9. @Tedster - I actually have 2-3 more 500gb 7200RPM drives sitting in storage. Just haven't installed them. Though after the Holiday Steam sale, it looks like I am going to have to. @jnmbhj - I have thought about getting a new card (not doing two). I was just trying to decide if that was the biggest bang for my buck. True I could make a good amount back with my card as I sell it... but I don't know. I should post a picture of my chair. It isn't 'awful'. Though it doesn't adjust as much as I would like it to(too short)... I don't get any pain from long gaming sessions, it's just ugly compared to everything else now. I do like that case!! Mine feels... too tiny. I could use it to start my wife's machine though. @ForsakenLive - I got lucky with my CPU. Happened to be in 'junk' pc that my friend gave me. Little did he know!!! I should of mentioned, I have Turtle Beach x12 headphones and I use the mic that comes with them http://www.turtlebeach.com/product-detail/pc-headsets/ear-force-x12/56 . I know very little about headsets / mics. However I have been tempted at getting this Yeti Mic - http://www.amazon.com/Blue-Microphones-Yeti-USB-Microphone/dp/B002VA464S . What headphones would you recommend? Thanks for the advice so far!!
  10. Brothers!! Looking for some opinions on my rig! Here it is, listed below from PCPart Picker. PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant CPU: Intel Core i5-2400 3.1GHz Quad-Core Processor ($243.78 @ Amazon) Motherboard: EVGA 120-SB-E682-KR Micro ATX LGA1155 Motherboard Memory: Crucial 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($132.11 @ Amazon) Storage: Sandisk Ultra Plus 128GB 2.5" Solid State Drive ($65.98 @ Newegg) Storage: Seagate Momentus 7200.4 250GB 2.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive Storage: Seagate Momentus 7200.4 250GB 2.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive Video Card: Club 3D Radeon R9 280X 3GB royalQueen Video Card ($224.99 @ NCIX US) Case: Cooler Master N200 MicroATX Mid Tower Case ($39.99 @ NCIX US) Power Supply: Antec EarthWatts Green 750W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply Operating System: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 (OEM) (64-bit) ($88.98 @ OutletPC) Monitor: BenQ RL2455HM 60Hz 24.0" Monitor ($184.99 @ NCIX US) Keyboard: Logitech G710 Wired Gaming Keyboard ($99.95 @ Newegg) Mouse: Mad Catz R.A.T. 7 Wired Laser Mouse ($84.16 @ NCIX US) Total: $1164.93 Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available Generated by PCPartPicker 2015-01-06 17:16 EST-0500 Also DESK - http://www.amazon.com/Atlantic-33935701-Gaming-Desk/dp/B0058O8EN8 (I have it customized, it's a nice sturdy desk. Not 100% in love but meh). CHAIR - Cloth... crap... rollling legs on carpet... etc.... thinking this might be a good idea too. /shrug Budget ~ One item. So roughly 300$ ish. Looking for the 'best bang for my buck'. AIM ~ Gaming. At this point I can play most games at Ultra. I had some issues with Shadow of Mordor. Also some DA:Inq. I can't seem to enjoy playing if it's not over 60fps :-x. Oh, and playing FFXIV on ULTRA with max FPS on a 120Hz monitor would be nice... 4k would be a nice dream too. But honestly, I just want to get the best 'bang for my buck' WHY ~ I have an addiction I seem to have to need to feed. Now, I most recently updated my Video card, so I am not TOO interested in upgrading that again(would feel like I am 'throwing away' the one I just bought (Aug 25th)), however if that is the best bang for my buck, then I understand. I am tempted a new new monitor, 120Hz, but I dunno. Also tempted at a new case. I recently got this one, but I don't love it. I miss my huge tower case. This one feels small and cramped. Also thought about getting a BUNCH of ram and then getting DIMMDRIVE... Let me know what you think and if you more information is needed!!
