I am using a HP Pavilion 15-ab219tx. I had to reinstall Windows on it. I have installed latest nVidia drivers and set it to use the 940m in the nVidia control center. But none of my programs will use it, Sony Vegas doesn't detect it and I get 12 fps in Counter Strike (1.6). If I disable intel graphics from device manager it switches to Microsoft Basic Display Driver. And there is no option to disable iGPU in BIOS.

@Weak1ings it's for ₹12,500 approximately 180 USD. I have checked there is nothing much better than the 265 in that price range. If you want to check do it on either amazon.in or flipkart.com

Will the r7 265 work with a 450 watt power supply? Newegg's power supply calculator shows 350W is enough for my system.
