zXUnReliableXz got a reaction from Nup in Black screen when using 3D applications
Let me shed some background on the problem. I have a Zotac GTX 970 (not the amp or extreme, just the normal one). A few days ago I was playing csgo and all of the sudden, my screen when black. I could still hear audio, sometimes looping, other times real time, but I was forced to reset my computer, This continued to happen 3 more times until I started doing anything I could, Updating literally everything, re-installing the game, and verifying cache. So far this had only happened in csgo so I thought it was software based, but just a day ago it also happened in tomb raider and cod aw as well, so I got the suspicion that it was my gpu considering i could still hear audio and my computer didn't technically crash, it was still on, all fans were spinning as if nothing happened. So I decided to stress test the gpu with the unigine valley benchmark, the temps were hovering around 77-78 degrees when the screen went black again. The screen never went black when on desktop or in browser only when in these application. Also something to note gpu-z reported that during the unigine benchmark my card was reaching 1303.6 MHz (possibly even higher in the first run when it initially black screened) when the boost clock is only supposed to go up to 1216MHz, I have never overclocked the card. Also the power consumption TDP wen't to about 110% sometimes not sure if that's a problem or not. Basically what I'm asking is, Is it my gpu that's causing the problem? How would I fix it? Is there anything else you guys can tell me? Please respond if you have any idea because I really want to get back up and gaming, thanks!
