  1. so today i had a total "im dumb" facepalm moment. i forgot i already had a plan, but just cant act on it yet. that plan being...build myself a newer nicely spected machine, and then move my current machine (TR1950X build with all the specs i need) into the roll of a home server....so i asked this question for no dam reason ..yay.
  2. TBH, I figured that would be the case. Want to asked about Intel since I've been out of the loop for a bit, so I'm not up on what's available and what supports what.
  3. Budget (including currency): unknown, but USD Country: US Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: used for storage server, with in home streaming, and video compression in mind Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): its currently running on vary old parts. looking to rebuild with slightly newer parts, but the mobo needs at least 1 m.2 slot, preferably 2, and 6 or more sata ports.
  4. can anyone tell me where plouffe got his stickers that he bombed his case with?
  5. adding a vote for level1techs. serve the home, and craft computing are secondary choices for me.
  6. to some level we've all had to become pirates over the years in order to obtain something we need, or want, and the things is just not obtainable through a viable way. "yo ho, yo ho. A PIRATES LIFE FOR ME!" lol.
  7. i imagine things have escalated quickly is such a horrible way that no one, be it us or GN, expected that steve felt the need to fly the heck out their to confront them about it.
  8. ive been messing with POP_os! for the last week and a half. so far ive worked my way though most problems i need to solve
  9. ive actually taken a liking to POP_os over the time ive been trying it out. i downloaded their latest (21.04) release a bit ago, and im going to give that a spin
  10. Wow, I've been so busy I've forgotten about this thread. Interesting opiias always. At this point I'm planning on getting a 1TB ssd, and stick POP_os on it. I'm only going in with the loose plan of 'have fun with it, see what works, and what wont'.
  11. im in that final bit, ive been considering switching to linux for a while anyways. and most of the stuff im doing i dont think i need windows for. plus, im sort of bored with windows as an OS, and im getting an itch to learn something new.
  12. Late morning yall. I've been checking out the content that's been coming out around windows 11, and I'll admit I'm not impressed. I'm to the point even on windows 10 that I'm willing to suffer just switching to Linux instead of going to 11. I'm curious how many others are of the same mindset.
