  1. Now to just find where those settings are! Hmm. I know they are within a reasonable range but this is at complete idle and when the monitor is on and I am browsing or doing anything with low load I might hit 35c - I just think it shouldn't be like this and there must be a setting somewhere, as above I just can't find it.
  2. No, as above it's set to 'never'.
  3. My current issue is that when my monitor goes to sleep after 30 minutes, the CPU fans keep spinning but my chassis fans all switch off. When this happens my CPU heats up to 50c in this idle state. My system has been OCed to 4.5GHz and is stable. I have activated CStates as part of the OC. How do I get the chassis fans to stay on? Bios? Could it be CState related? i4770k Asus Maximus VII Hero BIOS 2012 All fans are PWM Noctuas. All but the rear use a Gelid 4way Splitter. I don't believe the splitters are the issue because the rear fan is stopping also and is connected directly to the motherboard header. NB: monitor set to off after 30m and everything else to 'never' in windows.
  4. Yeah, you can try to go higher in the advanced settings but it will pull it back. From memory it cannot go past 1.212v on the stock bios. I've pushed my plenty and the results on stock bios are very good 1573/2073 stable 24/7 on air
  5. @Vilco I wrote it that way because I wasn't sure if you can suggest other forums on here, haven't read that far into the rules lol. I'll get the info to you
  6. Honestly they all have coil whine to a degree. There is another overclockers dot something that has plenty of HOFs on it.
  7. The G1 is a safe bet but consider the Strix, many are starting to pop up on forums as being just as competitive if not more, the Strix has a damn good build quality.
  8. If you can afford the HOF you will not be disappointed. The quality and support is second to none. Extremely good OC out of the box, quality components, quality build. Not a lot of people have them because the 970 HOF is only 10ish days old but do some googling on the 980 HOF for an indication of the quality (there are some reviews and write-ups) and you'll see why some drool over them My Strix is amazing but if they where $40 off and available when I got my Strix I would've jumped on it.
  9. @Opcode I said to at least get the PSU looked at via warranty. Most indications suggest it's enough power (though I didn't know the GPU at the time of that post) but if it's faulty as I said in the post you quoted and you have now repeated, get it looked it. 3 year warranty, may as well be sure.
  10. @Gentlekatt ok so here's what I've found out. It's a CWT OEM so it's one of the better types. This site is great for PSUs - http://www.realhardtechx.com There's a discontinued version and an 80 Plus version (should be labelled). Technically the 80 Plus version should be going on a little stronger that said it's still possibly something is wearing down. Either version appears to have a 3 year warranty so if it were me I'd investigate that path as it's possible that though the Maxwells have less draw maybe in total you are hitting that PSUs limit.
  11. @Gentlekatt what model Corsair? eg HX RM AX CS etc And how old is it?
  12. What power supplies are you running? How old are they? These can be pretty common issues particularly if the cards are having issues at stock. PSUs degrade over time.
  13. From all the research I have done, if don't flash the bios or use a volt mod all 970s (I haven't looked into the others) are volt locked and it varies between 1.2-1.3 depending on brand. For example I tried maxing out my voltage in GPU Tweak and the slider actually pulled all the way back once I started benching. I believe it's a safety thing from what I've seen though I don't know that that's a fact. Many other's have reported the same thing and can have GPUZ or HWiNFO on another screen while benching you can actually see it in real time. Power Target and GPU Temp Target can be nudged up though I wouldn't go higher than 85c on the temp and I'm pretty sure Linus recommended something similar in relation to the target temp in a recent video. Your best friend can be GPUZ and HWiNFO when testing basically because you'll see a throttle happen in real time before you'll see an artifact in my experience. Tune in small increments, one slider at a time and you're golden
  14. Probably not average but I'm at 1573/2073MHz on air, stock bios. Posted scores in the Firestrike thread. I made the same thread earlier
