  1. apparently its the drive thinking its an external, most likely cause its dieing as well, thanks though it only has games on it so im just gunna buy a new one.
  2. Yea I figured that was the case, I was going to try Hirens boot cd but I forgot it wasn't on my USB anymore, will try that tomorrow, but what I'm more worried about is my F: and M: drives doubling up in explorer https://i.imgur.com/Z1sPUvA.png after the S: drive died, what could be causing that? did my mobo kill the S: drive and it's trying to kill the others as well.
  3. So it to make this easier in going to lists my drive letters and what type they are C: SSD - OS M: HDD - Storage G: HDD - Cold Storage S: SSD - Game Drive F: HDD - External One of my games on my S: drive tried to update and threw a disk read/write error, I checked in windows explorer and when I clicked on my S: drive it failed to open just sat their retrying for a few min with no results, so I restarted my computer. After I finish restarting I open explorer and my S: is not showing but now my M: & F: drives have doubled up on a separate indent in explorer (https://i.imgur.com/Z1sPUvA.png (S: & G: are unplugged in this picture)) I checked disk management and my S: drive isn't showing their either (the F and M aren't doubled up in disk management). Next, i tried reseating the S: drive and reboot, doesn't show, then I tried unplugging it and booted up without the S: drive plugged in, M: and F: drives still have their doubles in explorer. After that I tried unplugging my G: drive as well rebooted, M: & F: are still doubled up. Now the weird shit happens, I tried leaving my G: drive unplugged and plug the S: drive into the >SAME< SATA data & power that G: was using and when I boot my computer, I get no video signal at all, not sure if its just no video or if it's not loading the bios and windows as well, its not throwing any post error beeps (I don't have a post code readout) which makes me think windows is loading but I just don't have any video for some reason. Anyone got any idea what the hells happening? PS: I'm omw to try the SSD in someone else's rig now. Edit 1: Tried the SSD on someone elses computer and it showed up in disk management as a new drive but when I tried formatting it, it threw an error "cannot read disk" or "cannot read file" with no other info.
  4. Thing is i noticed theirs still a bunch of other folders from catalyst control center and heaps of random files and from old drivers versions ect not sure if that caused something to happen. are my drivers even working with out the control centre thing working. Is their a way to clean up all the old catalyst control centre stuff including old drivers and ect safely.
  5. Hi A few weeks ago i got a pop up from radeon crimson asking to update to the new drivers a accepted and it failed around 80% through i just clicked ok and continued what i was doing (cause lazy at the time) and when i went to try it again today their was no option to open crimson from the desktop or system tray. parts of it are still in the C:\AMD\Radeon-Crimson-15.11-With-DOTNet45-Win7-64Bit follder but the only .exe's are setup and app manager. anyone else encounter this problem or can tell me how i should go about fixing it.
  6. Hi and thanks in advance. So i had a Samsung 840 EVo 120Gb SSD installed in my system about 2 years ago, and i recently noticed after moving a couple of games back to my HDD, that the total used space on the SSD was way more than expected, around 54Gb used. I used CCleaner's disk analyser and found that 90% of the space taken were "other files" i thought i had already changed the pagefile size from 8Gb to 4Gb but for some reason it didnt take effect the hibernation file is also around 6Gb which i believe i cant change as i use hybrid power saving to disable the monitor output, but nether of those files account for all the 51GB of "other files" on the SSD. What ive also noticed is their appears to be 1000's of duplicate files (when using the CCleaner duplicate finder) sometimes 2 of the same file sometime 10 or more, and sometimes their more sets of the exact same duplicate files with the only difference being the creation date or a single letter, as most of the duplicates seem to be related to Windows or AMD i have no idea what i can delete safely. Additionally CCleaner keeps popping up saying it can remove 50Gb of space from somewhere but wants money to do it. So my question is does anyone have any idea what the hells happening to my SSD (duplicates ect) and is their a way around it without doing a fresh install or buying a year of CCleaner premium. Ive attached a bunch of screenshots from CCleaner disk analyser/duplicate finder and WinDirStat. Specs: AMD Phenom ii x4 BE 3.7Ghz OC Corsair Dominator, 8Gb DDR3 Gigabyte GA-890GPA-UD3H MSI Twin Frozr iii 7970 3Gb OC edition Corsair H80i Samsung 840 Evo 120Gb X2 WD BE, 1TB and 3TB HD Thanks Again

  8. Hi im looking at a friends laptop (that terrible friend that leaves you questioning how they manage to fuck it up this bad ) and i noticed in the installed programs that the latest version of Microsoft visual C++ 2012 redistributable (86) - 11.0.51106 has some foreign (looks Russian) language were its should say Microsoft Corporation under publisher like the previous version do. I've tried googling it to no prevail but in still not sure if it an infection of some sort or how to roll back to the previous versions if it is. any help would be sweet. its also running vista.....
  9. thanks looks like ill need a new mobo if i want to upgrade my cpu as mines pre much top of the list for my board
  10. I tried to ask gigabyte support this but when i click to look at their reply its says i dont have an account.... So my question is can i put an FX series CPU on my gigabyte ga-890gpa-ud3h am3 (rev 1.0) iv read some things that its compatible now but nothing concrete. Or is their a cpu better than a Phenom II quad core black edition (my current model) that's compatible with my board as i really dont have the cash to upgrade mobo and cpu at the same time, but the older cpu is starting to hold me back gaming wise these days
