  1. Guys thanks for the reply, i tried today by disassembling everything and cleaning everything, replacing paste etc but nothing, still dead with that gpu, with the emergency one it turns on no problems. i still find it hard to digest that this gpu, which i had no troubles or unusual stuff whatsoever for 3 years straight decided to just turn off one night and never turn on again lol, unbelievable. the problem is that i dont have a spare PC to test this GPU on another system so i can confirm for sure or not if its dead.. sending it with warranty is out of the question since i bought it used (but it was almost new, it had the plastic on it and everything on the box), and its been almost 3 years. what would you guys suggest, is it worth it sending it to repair? is this a fixable problem or should i just move on? I kinda want the GTX 1660 Super for the kind of games i play sadly having to buy a new gpu as an university student and finding a job while the country is still on lockdown due to COVID is almost impossible
  2. TLDR: I was playing valorant like normally would and pc shuts down with no warnings, doesnt turn back on again, pc turns on without the main GPU plugged in, as soon as i plug in gpu, pc doesnt turn on anymore.. Right now im using an emergency GPU which is a HD 5670, it all i have, and the pc works with no errors, the card is very slow and old though so i cant game anything on it. i also cant afford to lose a computer since im on university and i work with coding stuff. I'll try to explain everything as detailed and as much as i can what happened yesterday: It was 2AM i was just playing valorant playing in a match, it was raining outside, and out of nowhere, my PC just shutsdown, thats it. It wasnt a power outtage due to rain or anything, no warnings, no nothing, completely out of the blue right into a power off, i tried turning it on again after and it didnt want to turn on, flipped the power supply switch off and on and tried turning it on, nothing, still dead Things i've tried: Stripping everything and start plugging components one by one (PC turns on) Removing the Mobo battery to reset BIOS I plug the CPU power pin adapter into the Mobo (PC turns on) I plug in a single stick of ram (PC turns on) I plug in all ram sticks (2 sticks of 8GB each) (PC turns on) I plug in graphics card Without connecting the PCI Power cables (PC DOESNT turn on) I plug in graphics card WITH the PCI power cables (PC DOESNT turn on) Tried plugging in the Graphics card WHILE the pc is turned on without a gpu (PC is turned on, but as soon as i plug the 6-pin connector, the PC Shutsdown, all fans stop spinning, everything stops) My PC Specs: i5-7500 (2x8) 16GB DDR4 Dual channel Crucial memory EVGA NVIDIA GTX 970 (Main GPU // Dead?) Radeon HD 5670 1GB (Current Emergency GPU) EVGA 600W 80+ PSU MSI H110M PRO-VH PLUS Mobo Windows 10 Pro 64bit So its clear the problem is around the Main GPU, when i try turning it on after i plug in the GPU with the PCI connectors the pc turns on but in a fraction of a second the fans and mobo lights up but shuts down inmediatelly I honestly dont know what to do at this point, i cant even make sure if the GPU is dead or not, since as soon as i plug in the GPU the PC doesnt turn on at all, no fan spin, no mobolights, nothing; all i get is .1 seconds of fan spin/twitch from cpu and gpu, and the mobo lights light up for like .1 seconds. I never had any problems whatsoever with the GPU before, no black screens, or BSoD, any kind of unusual artifacts or extreme lag or anything Has anyone encountered this kind of issue before and found the source of the problem? I need help, anything that could work, if the gpu is dead, right now i cant afford to buy another gpu sadly.
  3. Computer Type: Custom built Desktop, I built this around 2016/2017 GPU: Sapphire R9 390 Tri-x Nitro with backplate 8GB GDDR5 @ stock clock, Never Overclocked CPU: Intel i5-7500 Stock clocks with Stock Cooler Motherboard: MSI H110M PRO-VH PLUS RAM: Its a Crucial DDR4-2133 8GB Memory Stick, its instaled on the right ram slot on the m/b PSU: EVGA 600W 80+ its exactly this one: https://www.evga.com/products/specs/psu.aspx?pn=ffee59fd-9d7c-411c-a23d-c5a0a61dde2d Operating System & Version: Windows 10 Pro build 1803 (17134.112) GPU Drivers: Right now im installing 18.6.1, i've tried already with 17.1.1, 17.7.1, 16.11.5 and windows's automatic driver download too, all with crashes Chipset Drivers: Im installing them now if it helps on anything. Driver Version: 24.20.100.6136 EDIT: Didnt work, doesnt let me install it, doubt it will do anything though. Background Applications: Literally none, I only play fortnite and Path of exile, so only the game is open. Description of Original Problem: It started like 2 weeks ago, Before i was able with no problems, to play games for HOURS (5-10Hrs) it was when i updated from windows 10 to a newer version of windows 10 i think it was the april update, before the 1803, i dont know if this is really the cause. The crash is pretty much a black screen, system hangs and the sound makes a Stuttering annoying loud noise/buzz/freeze sound.. when im on desktop it crashes sometimes too, while listening music, whats weird is that when that happens, the screen is black but the music is still going in the background. My Card is not even 2 years old i think, and its already showing faults? it was functioning perfectly a few weeks ago, playing for HOURS, no crashes, sometimes i get instant crashes as soon as i launch a game too, how is this possible? whats more infuriating is that there's no dump file or ANYTHING to tell me what the fuck is wrong with it and whats causing it. worst of all, there's no authorized Repair service where i can send this so they can check. Troubleshooting: Things already tried: * Removed Video drivers with DDU and Update Video Drivers * Update Realtek drivers * Updated M/B BIOS * Did a memtest86, it Passed and came out clean * Defragged the HDD * Did system files scan with sfc, 1 file came corrupted and replaced it, crashed still happen * Also did a chkdsk on both drives and still got a crash * took out the PC Tower and took off EVERYTHING, cleaned, replaced thermal paste even though my temps were fine, paste was still fresh, Reseated Ram slot and SATA Ports, removed the mobo battery and placed it again, Resetted CMOS, cleaned the whole thing, still crashing. * Drive C had a few sectors wrong so i swapped to a new 320gb i had lying around, sectors are fine on the 320gb, re-installed W10 Pro, still got a crash * I once again Formatted and Swapped to windows 7 Ultimate, still got a crash.. * Uninstalled the latest AMD Driver with DDU and let windows download automatically the driver which is version 17.7.1, so far no crashes after 1hr of gaming, needs more testing... EDIT: After 3hrs, it got a crash.. * Downgraded to driver 16.11.5, got the same crash * Downloaded Driver 18.6.1 since aparently no matter what driver i install, even the most stable ones like 16.11.5, still got a crash * Did some stress Testing with prime95 for the cpu, FurMark for the GPU and GPU-Z / HWMonitor for monitoring, i've attached the .txt files and FurMark Picture, the first test lasted longer than 10 minutes, later i did another at a 1600x1080 resolution at x8 MSAA, and it crashed almost inmediatelly, at around 1-2 minutes At this point I gave up, I have tried literally EVERYTHING in my power to fix this, I dont know if you guys can help me fix this for the love of.. I also dont have any spare parts so i can try with something else.. And also i think i cant RMA the card if its faulty, i bought it in 2016 and there's nowhere to send it to repair to an official repair center or something. Any ideas on what could be causing this issue? Literally cant play in peace because im in fear of the system hanging out all the time. GPU-Z Sensor Log.txt HWMonitor.txt
  4. after installing the latest drivers, i still have this issue, i did multiple tests with CSGO everything on low and turned all the theme visuals on my operative system and i set it to classic windows.. graphics card is @ 30-40ºC and processor is 50-55ºC most of the time, max was 65ºC, @ 640x480, everything on low settings, i still have fps drops, from 160fps to 35-40fps... Is there something else i could try? maybe on the Bios, which i have no way/aknowledge to improve performance there , it is definitelly not overheating
  5. I was thinking the same thing, the Power supply is a bit overkill, The rest is pretty darn good
  6. Alright, To Reply all your Questions, i decided to test it again, and longer... no doubt it drops gpu usage, even the clocks drops. CPU Usage is normal, on all 6 cores, when playing normally and when FPS is dropping, temps are about 60-65ºC Currently Have 14.9, I will update Now and see if its any difference, which I doubt, since i had no problems playing any games before Launch Options on CSGO are -high, which means it sets high priority everytime i launch the game I Thought myself that too, it could have been bottleneck, but everytime i think that I WAS able to play normally with no problems before, it gets me even more confused ===== Below, another graph, marked on circle is when FPS Drops happens, I dont need to show CPU Usage and temps since its everything normal
  7. Hello Everyone I recently joined this community hoping for a solution to my problem that is driving me crazy, all the ways to optimize FPS have been In Vain My Specs are: CPU: FX-6100 X6 @ 3.3 Ghz (Not OC'd) M/B: ASUS M5A78L-M LX V2 RAM: 8GB Kingston HyperX @ 1866Mhz GPU: ASUS HD 7850 2GB DirectCUII (It was Overclocked before but I decided to let it on stock after i found this problem ) 500GB @ 7200rpm Harddrive The Problem is that I just CANT play any games without having FPS Drops cut to half or even WORSE!, im aware that this is NOT Overheating, it happens even on low temps, I Mostly play CSGO, StarTrek Online, DmC: Devil May Cry, CoD:BO2, Killing Floor Yesterday I downloaded MSI Afterburner so i could see (maybe) what was the problem, and I THINK I found that the GPU Usage drops to 0 sometimes, and it happens, no matter what Temps my gpu are, they drop even at 45-50ºC, and it happens on ALL GAMES.. even on Killing floor, the game isnt that demanding, i can easily play everything on High @ 100-120Fps, but it drops to 40-50 fps thanks to this Problem.. Around Half of the Graph, I started playing a deathmatch on CS:GO just to test and make this graph, as soon as i entered to a DM lobby, i was already having fps drops, with about 40-45ºC, and yes, these spikes that drops to 0 are when FPS Drops, and as you can see above is not even Overheating. (As far as i know, above 70-75ºC is when its overheating), i can play CS:GO Perfectly on Highest settings @95-120, but i play everything on low to get above than 100, it still drops to 25-30 fps when *this* happens 2 Months ago, I took out my rig and took everything out, to remove the dust, clean it and replace the thermal paste as well for CPU and GPU as well, but the problem persist, it cant be dirt, nor overheat!, So WHY im getting fps drops?! Please help Im saving for a new PC anyways, but while i get there, I Still want to be able to play while i save for the New PC
