  1. Ok, thanks! I'll try the headphones out before I decide if I'll get an amplifier or not
  2. No, I haven't. Since I placed the order yesterday I doubt they've even shipped yet. I just read you practically need an amplifier to use the Q701 to their "full" potential. But would you rather recommend me to wait before ordering an amp?
  3. Hey guys! Ok, so I just bought a pair of AKG Q701 here in EU for 300 CAD and I'm looking for an amplifier since I don't have one. What would you recommend for this kind of headphone? Is it possible to get a good match for about the same ammount (300 CAD) or do I need to get a more high end one? Can't say I'm all that sure about the 3 meter cord though, but I hope there's some kind of mini xlr - 3.5mm replacement. Anyway I'd really appreciate your input/help!
  4. Oh, my bad! I believe I meant an amplifier and not a DAC. Oh well, I think i have the answers I need. Getting to a physical store would probably be the best solution.
  5. How come? Why would you consider a DAC being hard to use? I'd appreciate a clarification since I don't get what you mean. I hope you can excuse my ignorance being new to this subject.
  6. Hey everyone, Now first of all, I know you should go to a local store before you buy a pair of headphones at this price point to figure out what kind of sound signature you like. In other words I guess I already have my answer right there. But since I like in a remote area and there's no high fidelity stores nearby I'm not sure how to approach this subject. Now I've been considering to buy headphones at the price of ~400$ and a headphone DAC at ~200$. Mainly to be used at home, so there's no need for the thing to be portable and I'd prefer over-ear. I've been looking at the AKG k712 and but no specific DAC in general since I have no idea if there's some "rule" how to match these things. Apparently the sound of the k712 are supposed to be "analytical" etc. though I can't say for sure if that's what I want. I guess my only option really is to find a store and listen to headphones in person. Maybe I'm all wrong about this and I'd really like to hear your thoughts!

    Acne? Spots?

Sure, not much you can do during puberty. But is none seriously going to mention that nutrition plays a big part when it comes to skincare? Eat healthy and your skin will suffer alot less from acne/pimples.
  8. Hey, Well as the topic says, should you preferably stick to one brand of SSDs or is there nothing to worry about when mixing them? Couldn't really find any info on this to be honest. Since every brand have their own specific software for "fast boots" etc I guess it's generally better not to be mixing all that much. Currently have 2x Intel disks in my computer, which I've been very pleased with. But as I'm looking for a 500GB SSD, Intel suddenly becomes alot more expensive compared to competing brands. Anyway what are your thoughts on this?
  9. Ok, so I just tested my speakers with another computer. A laptop from a friend of mine, now I only got a "puff" once that computer turned off and nothing during the boot up. Yet again it seems my motherboard is the problem here. I also contacted my retailer who told me there's not going to be a hassle if it turns out my speakers after all are the problem with all this. But with all the testing I've done it seems unlikely. Maybe a disk formatting could somehow solve this? Haven't actually done it since I got the speakers, though I personally doubt it.
  10. Honestly, I might just get an external soundcard to be honest. Seems like a more reliable solution, maybe a focusrite or something similar. Well see what happens, thanks for your help
  11. I would appreciate it alot if you could explain to me how I'd do this. Seems like a pretty decent solution being able to just disable my USB connection to my speakers during boot up. Tried searching for a guide but it seems kind hard to find.
  12. No, my speakers are usually active when I boot up and I haven't really tried booting with them being in sleep mode. But my guess is they'll just activate with the first pop and hence skip a few of the first pops. Not a great solution in my opinion to be honest. I do on the other hand have an optical connection on my motherboard and I have considered getting an external soundcard to bypass this problem. But I guess I won't notice much of a difference like you said. I'm just bummed out I have to stick with 3.5mm (1/8th inch) cable instead of USB when there is a possibility of better sound quality.
  13. I guess I'll just have to stick with 3.5mm and listen to your account picture then as much as I hate to say it. I don't know really, some fairly loud popping from a pair of $400 speakers everytime you boot feels quite unpleasant and concerning.
  14. Hmm, ok, it's basically just current bouncing around on the motherboard which you can do nothing about I guess? Man, that sucks. Maybe an amplifier prevents this but that's few extra hundred bucks if you want to get a decent one.
  15. Hey guys! So I got a pair of active speakers a few months back, Argon 7460A to be more precise. (Couldn't insert the damn link in the post for some reason) Now everytime I boot my computer up my speakers pop at regular intervals during the boot sequence, not once I get into Windows or when shut it off. Only when I boot it up and this has been driving me crazy for the longest time, mainly the fact that I can't figure out why they are acting this way. The problem is forcing me to use a 3.5mm cable instead of USB, which is supposed to have superior sound quality (maybe it's just "snake oil", correct me if I'm wrong here) and of couse I'd like to get the best sound quality possible out of the speakers. I've tried various things like updating my motherboard drivers etc, turning on/off units in the control panel, just switching USB-plugs etc and nothing seems to work. Anyway I've got a Asus z97i-plus motherboard and some ~15$ gold plated USB-cable connected to the speakers. What could possibly be the problem here or should I just stick with a 3.5mm cable? I'd rather not if it means sacrificing sound quality. Thank you for your time.
