  1. BLUF: Good amount of storage/backup (probably 4TB) and a responsive setup. I am looking at building a new PC for my dad as the 8 year old setup he has. despite some upgrades I have made is starting to act up. Budget: $2,000 uness I get good reason to go over Location: East Coast, USA Monitors/extras: He currently runo one screen and I don't see him adding more, there is no need for mouse or keyboardsomething or anything else Use case: My dad loves to take photos and videos, but he doesn't do much more than light video and photo editing, he may want to do more in the future, but the main concern is he likes to store every photo and video. I need a good storage solution and a responsive setup that won't require a lot of messing around once it is up and going. I'm in the military so I can't help him with tech support all the time so convince me not to go with a company who can provide that service. Edit: I also plan on adding a 1060 in case I ever want to use the computer for a game and since he does sometimes play.
  2. I just found a guy willing to sell a very lightly used (3 months) GTX 980 EVGA Superclocked for $400. I am worried after the 980ti came out and Linus discredited the 980 as a good buy option. I plan on gaming at the highest settings at 2560x1600 and on the Occulus when it comes out. I play high demand titles and may look at going triple monitor in the future (very much considering 2x 980, 2x 290x, or 2x 970), but I often remove one card and stick it in my mobile PC and still want performance. What's my best option? I currently own a 680 DCUII OC and it has started to chug at 2560x1600 in BF4 and I know it will not handle Star Citizen which I want to be able to max in VR play. If you think the 980ti is a better option, I can afford any single card now and the second one later if needed.

  4. It isn't that old 1.5-2 years max. Do you know how I could be sure though?
  5. uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers from site, no change its weird because windows does that little noise when it is plugged in/unplugged, but it doesn't show up anywhere in device manager or in its own software, hell the lights dont even turn on on the keyboard
  6. Hey guys, So I have been using a Tesoro Durandal Ultimate with my laptop for a while now (1 year) while I saved up for a PC. I got everything but my case and put it all together with my keyboard and everything. I ran the PC with no case for about a month (it got delayed in shipping) and when I got the case, I unplugged and put the PC together back in the case just like any other time. When I booted up the PC (nothing was changed, it was just in the case now instead of sitting on the mobo box) the keyboard would not register. I have tried a lot of fixes, even tried it on my laptop again, nothing works. I seems like it must be the keyboard, but it is not like I dropped it or anything, I literally didn't move it on my desk, just unplugged it, built the PC, plugged it in. Any advice would help, because this keyboard wasn't cheap, and I have used it too long to deal with the only crappy membrane I have to sub it for.
  7. Guy I said this too had 5 ASUS products fail in a row. 2 DOA and 1 Mechanical 2 he just had troubles with.
  8. KrazierKorean321 is my name. Looking for a couple of guys in the high bronze silver range to start a ranked 5's team with.
  9. Probably cellphones. Small screens, huge battery drain, limited controls, very similar game library. Worst of the "gaming class" probably an all-in-one, they are typically not made to game on and also very often not upgrade-able. Mac is not a great gaming system too, honestly, not because they are "overpriced, or bad" or anything, but just because their game library is not as large as on PC.
  10. The GTX680 DCUII 3-Slot. The Maximus V Formula. Dell U3011 display. Samsung Galaxy S4. i7 3770k and an i7 4770k. Technically pretty much any console would count. Steel Series Sensei.
  11. When I am like surfing the web or chilling, I usually have 2 windows in one browser, 1 in another and about 8 tabs each. If I am gaming I usually only have like one window open with 5-10 tabs. It really starts to run my laptop down (32 bit -.-) so I have to really be focused about not going to hard.
  12. Well right now it is really nothing. It is a game in PRE-ALPHA that you can pay money for to support the leas game developer himself. I think the thing about the game that has people the most excited is the persistence of the universe (so it makes it feel like your actions matter), the great variety in ways you can play, and the great variety of ship design. There is also the way that this is a space game more than just a game set in space. Also, DEM GRAPHICS #PCMASTERRACE I am excited to see what this game becomes, I haven't pre-ordered or anything, I am not that sold, but it looks like a kind of game where you can sink hours and hours into it and still see new things, play new ways, and with new people.
