  2. Since the omega driver ... CCC 14.12 It really has been fantastic.. I would my scaling is really a true 400% in well optimized games. Tomb raider at 3K maxed settings i am always above 90 FPS .. Dragon age inquisition maxed is about 45-85FPS depend on zone... this game is NOT well optimized at this time but i imagine it will get better. My heavily modded skyrim is anywhere in the 75-135fps @ 3k.. overall i start with 2-gpu's in crossfire and aquired two more later on for a fantastic price. My experience with quad-fire has been good, at least from the gaming and performance point of view. Managing heat and noise levels was a bit tricky.
  3. For those of you wondering why i would game at 4k with a 7970ghz is because i have four of them in quad-fire. Currently running 3x1080p for effective 3K but there is a 4K Philips monitor coming soon that has me really wanting it bad. let me find the link.... philips BDM4065UC http://www.tomshardware.com/news/philips-4k-bdm4065uc-monitor,27977.html yeah that puppy! the gigabyte 7970ghz is running displayport 1.2 ..
  4. Hello Friends I've sent a ticket to gigabyte already but i was wondering maybe i could get an answer faster here. I have this GPU... gigabyte 7970ghz edition http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4290#ov will it support 4k@60hz on the mini-displayport jack? I ask because on the gigabyte product page it states max digital resolution is 2560x1600 YET on the amd product page for the 7900 series cards which includes the 7970ghz edition it says it supports 3840x2160 @ 60hz .. so which one is it? 5. For skyrim i don't use radeonpro, it's not needed. I use Radeonpro on Dx11 games (lichdom, DAI, Tomb raider etc.) to get sweetfx to work, it is unfortunately needed as a pass through like a post-post processor. You are right about skyrim and frame pacing, it doesn''t make much of a difference, However it does not do nothing either. If your force Vsync = ALWAYS ON in CCC and frame pacing in on, i found this to help ALOT with smoothing of stutters in skyrim. Oh also a note about stutters in skyrim, this is caused by skyrim more so than AMD/drivers. It's the way skyrim consumes Vram, lucky for use you can control how much Vram skyrim gets via an enb. You can remove stuttering completely by setting the availible Vram for skyrim to LESS than your total Vram this way you will always have enough overhead to allow texture memory to swap around without getting OUT OF MEMORY basically which causes the stuttering. remi lafo
  6. Recall i play at 3K, 3240x1920 ... I would also get 50+fps at 1080p on ultra.
  7. For skyrim 4gb is plenty, even 3GB which is what i use is fine. Depends what you do actually. heavy modding with big textures that 4Gb or even 8Gb will go along way. But remember the 290X isn't that much faster than the 7970/280X only about 10-15%... IMO enb's is what really changes the appearance of skyrim and for that compute power is what you need, so a 295X would be more appropriate for that. a 290x with 8gb will live longer than a 4gb card. Like it will probably support games even 5 years from now, although you might find yourself starving for compute power. You could do what i did.. I originally bought 1 7970 and it was awesome..... but i eventually got a second 7970 when they went down about 150$. I only just recently got my 7990 for 440$ off newegg and that was a damn steal. Remi lafo.
  8. Skyrim scaled very well with multi-gpu even before this patch. Given how the enb is coded i think a powerful cpu is needed. for me 1 gpu = 100% 2 gpu = 190-195% 3 gpu = 275-280% 4 gpu = 350- 375%
  9. Hello All For the AMD GPU users out there i have to report EXCELLENT improvements with this new AMD omega driver release on Dec 9th 2014. I have a quad-fire setup, 7990 + 2x7970 .. For the games i play i saw these improvements. Dragon age inquisition: Holding solid 60fps (vsync cap) @ 3240x1920 resolution at full ultra.. Up from about 45 FPS. Skyrim (heavily modded with a intensive enb) : up from 45fps to about 95+ ... a 100% improvement Lichdom battlemage: another 100% improvement ... this game can still use alot of optimizations imo. a single GPU is about 15-20FPS on ultra and i get about 55FPS with 4 gpu... ..... Thank you AMD, this driver was fantastic. In non-gaming related news... the new AMD video up-scaling is pretty damn cool also. Watching 720p or 1080p videos from HDD or Internet they get up-scaled and rendered . pretty significant visual improvement. Not quite the 4k comparison im sure amd was going for but still much better than native 1080p stretched to 4k. remi lafo.
  10. random computer shutoffs are hardly ever software related. The last time i saw a software related shutoff was back in windows 95 and before that days when CTRL+ALT+DEL would be the keyboard combination for reset.. loose or even bad ram wouldn't cause a hard shutoff either, it would definitely give you a blue screen, no post or a hard reset but not a shutoff. Signs are starting to point towards system board.
  11. we now you at least can replicate the issue which goes a long way in terms of diagnosis.. You have narrowed your problem down to this.. - One of your GPu's/Gfx cards has an issue, test each one individually, also get GPU-Z to properly monitor the card during usage. - Motherboard issue, second card not seated properly?, that PCI-E slot is faulty, try another one? Good luck..
  12. See my comments below. k, here is my list of mods I will be installing to Skyrim: 1. A Quality World Map - With Roads : http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/4929 - if you want, this mod makes the map seen in the game like in the imperial war room high rez. It literally appears like 4 times in the entire game.. imo pass. 2. Unofficial Skyrim Patch: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/19 3. Unofficial Dawnguard Patch: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/23491 4. Unofficial Hearthfire Patch: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/25127 5. Unofficial Dragonborn Patch: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/31083 6. Unofficial High Resolution Patch: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/31255 - all of these are unneeded, just saying. These are minor fixes, you will still need to TES5Vedit them to clean ITM records. 7. Skyrim Script Extender (SKSE): http://skse.silverlock.org/ 8. SkyUI: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/3863 - awesome , can't play without these 9. Immersive HUD - iHUD: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/3222 10. Static Mesh Improvement Mod - SMIM : http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/8655 -Careful when mixing SMIM it often conflicts with other mesh mods 11. WATER - Water And Terrain Enhancement Redux: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/13268 (Overwrites SMIM) 12. Skyrim HD - 2K Textures : http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/607 (Overwrites SMIM) I would not use CoT actually. I will use these: 13.Enhanced Lights and FX: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/27043 /OVERWRITE Better Dynamic Snow Meshes/ 14.Immersive Interiors: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/39208 15.RealVision ENB: http://www.nexusmods...yrim/mods/30936 There will be a massive performance hit, but if I use ENBoost, I might get out of it. Anyways, here are some more mods: 20.Cloaks of Skyrim: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/12092 21.Winter Is Coming - Cloaks: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/13486 22.Wet and Cold: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/27563 23.Footprints: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/22745 24.Splash of Rain: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/37873 25.Frostfall - Hypothermia Camping Survival: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/11163 26.Realistic Needs and Diseases: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/26228 okay you like immersion mods, drop all of those and get requiem instead.. http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/19281/? Quests and Adventures: 26.Moonpath to Elsweyr: http://www.nexusmods...kyrim/mods/9782 wow so much more we can talk about...
  13. oh i see... you have mis-understood a little bit.. 4k textures don't mean they are meant to be played on a 4k display. a 4K texture means that the image that wraps the mesh (makes the form of the object) is 4096x4096 pixels. An image like that when flattened is larger than your entire 4k display which is 3840x2160. ... much larger infact. The reality is that for normal gameplay having all your textures at 4K is grossly inefficient because why do you need a small rock or a campfire to be such a huge resolution. You are killing your frame rate and unnecessarily consuming all your vmem.. 4K textures are for skyrim photography aka screen archery. 2K textures would more than enough and i don't think you would notice a difference. If you really want a 4K texture choose the large textures that consume a big part of the screen or things you will look at alot. Objects like mountain sides, tress, statues etc. As an example i play skyrim at 3K, i use mostly 1K textures and some 2K, I could literally not see a difference between my setup and full 4k textures unless i stopped and stared at a particular object. Like i said 4k textures good for screen archery but not for gameplay. Even default skyrim with the right enb is a world of difference, skyrims failings are in it's lighting engine not it's textures. 14. oh one more thing and this is probably the most important. Skyrim can become a totally new game and fully next gen with just a few mods, you really don't need to go crazy. However if it really is your intention to MOD eveything and get your skyrim totally 2K+ then you will also need to learn TES5Vedit to clean all the Identical to master records. Also get "mod organizer" it will save your life!!! for reals... Don't use Nexus mod manager. Remi Lafo
  15. Wow this is a topic i can chime in on like a pro.. Texture mods are great but seriously what makes the world of difference is a good ENB.. you can try mine if you want, http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/49164/? but since you are using Nvidia perhaps try Realvision enb or Project enb. and for texture mods just go with Tamriel reloaded.. anything else is personal choice after that. Don't listen to this guy, skyrim is actually very well optimized especially for single nvidia gpu on a single screen regardless of resolution. If you disable SSAO-SILL on your enb you can probably hang around 30FPS at 4K depending on mods which is playable. Remi lafo
