  1. Try removing all the ram and using one stick at a time to see if one of them is bad. I would also try clearing the CMOS.
  2. I've had the end bend on a SATA connector from being bent too far while cable managing. Wouldn't hurt to inspect the cable for damage and try a spare. I'm curious if you disconnect the other drive, install a Windows install USB / DVD, pick custom install, if it shows up in the list of drives to install Windows on. Just to see if it is detected there.
  3. For anyone reading this thread, if you want a bunch of rambling from someone that wants to pick fights on the forums read the above ^. If you actually want to learn about SLI check out guides from awesome forum members. http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/197327-the-sli-information-guide/
  4. Generally I don't touch GPU boss. At least CPU Boss has a section of aggregated benchmarks like here. http://cpuboss.com/cpus/Intel-Core-i7-4790K-vs-Intel-Core-i5-4690K#performance Which is about the only thing I actually take into consideration. The 1-10 numbers they assign are pretty horrible. From the page you linked it looks like the aggregated GPU benchmarks are pretty pathetic.
  5. Bluescreenview is another good one.
  6. I don't see any additional SATA drivers. Is that particular SATA port dead? All others around it work?
  7. Does your motherboard have additional SATA connectors that require a driver in order to operate any device plugged into those ports? Can give us the motherboard model.
  8. Did you recently add a second card to an already working machine or did you install both at the same time? If so try one at a time to verify they both work as intended.
  9. @PConsolesRock As other have said. I'm just going to add more steps in case you need them. Start, type "disk management", top result should be it. Once it opens it might prompt you to format the drive as MBR or GPT. Pick GPT. There will be a black bar that matches the drive you wish to use in the middle of the screen. Right click to select it then left click to open the menu. Choose new simple volume. Follow the onscreen wizard leaving most of the defaults. You might want to assign it a different name besides New Volume when it asks for drive label. You DO want to assign it a drive letter when it asks you for that. Any letter will do as long as that letter isn't already in use.
  10. You can see the glorious no SLI communication limitation of my 690 here. http://www.anandtech.com/show/5805/nvidia-geforce-gtx-690-review-ultra-expensive-ultra-rare-ultra-fast/11 Oh wait... That actually doesn't show SLI cards having a disadvantage from an external SLI bridge. Do you actually have a better list of games that support SLI? No? I don't care if it is varying degrees of support. You have any list at all? The only reason I mentioned price to performance is because you did, "Even with SLI "supported" by the games, it still has lower performance per dollar,". Did you forget typing that? SLI 980s eh? If SLI is so wrong why haven't you sold them for a Titan X? Do as I say not as I do, right? "REK'T" ? Are you twelve?
  11. If you think you're upsetting me, no. Not in a long shot. I said not to tag me but you did. If you have a problem with me giving my opinion now, should follow your own medicine and not post in a public forum. He insults the HP product because he has a list of grievances that he specifically points out. Heck his product wasn't even working when he got it. The sad thing is I don't even care for his videos. Most of your arguments consists of trying to name personal faults in his character. The ones that aren't like that are Torque screws don't matter on a case no one will open and it doesn't matter what's inside if they won't open it. I'll honestly give you the Torque screws, Geforce used them on my card and I never faulted them on that. But gee... I'm not a mechanic so its ok that I am sold a piece of shit car. Better yet if I was a mechanic and pointed out all the reasons why this car (pc) was really bad like the psu, hard drive, and processor in a video. I'm glad I have someone like Mr Moose out there to question my character. PM me if you really want to knock heads over this til the end of time, i'll read it tomorrow when I'm off again.
  12. If anything he would hope they look at a better model where they don't have to cut corners and that when buying PCs there is more to it than a black box. Almost like he says exactly that between 8:20 - 9:20... Same thing Linus said about the R5 240. Though please keep belittling people and putting words in their mouth.
  13. So nothing more than a bunch of ad hominem attacks. Thank you for your contribution. Do I think quality control is stretchy on a $329 machine? yes. Do I agree with Carey's point that machines in that price range should be avoided? yes. Was that what he was showing off? yes.
  14. So nit picking an argument based on wording isn't grammar nazing...? Fooled me. You've made well constructed claims? On what? Insulting Carey to the point you think he rigged the SATA cable cause your vendors can do no wrong? "No it's not, the point of these videos is to bolster careys viewership. This computer is no more poorly constructed than any other computer at that price. The only legitimate complaint he has (sata cable unplugged) is so unlikely it was probably a setup." Yet I am the one about to say you work for the NSA or something... Right...
  15. So you think grammar nazing is an effective means of avoiding the fact that you messed. That Carey's video is why he doesn't recommend buying a 329 dollar computer. That even on part 2 he says he would never put his name on something so bad. Keep riding that dictionary it might save you.
  16. I guess HP doesn't relabel someone else's products as a HP. Who would have known... Oh wait.
  17. https://www.google.com/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&ion=1&espv=2&ie=UTF-8#newwindow=1&q=is+hp+an+oem I wasn't expecting you to resort to grammar nazi mode so quickly.
  18. "Top 20 computer OEMs as “brand names”" Guys, you see, a study with top 20 combined averaged out to be better! Therefore HP is better! Bah
  19. So if you lump in the crappy OEMs with good OEMs you get an average that is better than a bunch of enthusiasts that ride their systems hard. Wow. That doesn't prove or disprove that HP by its own merits is better or worse than if I went out and bought a bunch of parts and did it myself. It proves as a combined blob locked down tight systems where they don't let you do anything have a lower failure rate than a bunch of techies that do all sorts of stuff. Outstanding! It on top of that has no bearing on the quality of the good purchased since yet again Carey's video was why you don't buy the cheapest thing on the shelf. You showed me.
  20. I know right? HP makes all their return rates so transparent I have no idea why I would have linked the most recent study done across computer brand vendors for their products. So foolish of me. Maybe I should turn the tables. Can you find anything stating their return rates for desktops in the year 2014-2015 specifically? Nothing else will work, and since I provided the last most recent study I'll just have to use that otherwise. Also how is 9:04 treating you in the part 1 video? Is it making you want to run out and buy a CoolMax $10 psu? I mean afterall they probably have some obscure return rates that we can only use customer feedback and professional reviews to judge. But those are too subject after all.
  21. So the part about them being dead last on both charts. You just going to blow that over or...?
  22. And you still tagged me.... Great. You know people generally have a negative opinion from a company from repetitive negative experiences right...? Carey Holzman didn't have to call HP shit for me to have thought they were shit. I've owned 3 HPs + 1 Compaq (HP owned at the time) in the past. You're right, I am one person. One person of the many people in this thread you want to call our disdain unjustified. You hold that tidal wave back. Anyone that has something negative to say about HP is obvious, eh how did you put it, "Come on people, all I am asking you to do is think critically about this.", so not thinking critically. The GPU heatsink pealing away from my laptop's GPU IHS was so awesome! (with critical thinking excitement over the shitty laptop). Then you call 25% failure rate in line with the other vendors. You know what sure, I feel like being a nice guy, have that point. The funny thing is even though if we nod and agree and say that is in line, HP is also DEAD LAST in terms of working machines surviving across 2-3 years. DEAD LAST in a poll about customer experience. Oh no, can't have a customer experience survey those shitty experiences from their HP computers are subjective! I hope you don't watch any of Linus's reviews, some of his subjective thoughts on the product might be heard. I'm sorry you missed the point of his videos. You see the video was why you don't buy a $329 computer. For the same reason no one on this forum will recommend buying a $10 CoolMax PSU. The reason Linus doesn't recommend the R5 240. You love sources though so 9:04 Part 1.
  23. I tagged you in this instead because I'd prefer not having to deal with the nonsense replies at the moment. Here is some sources you can use. http://www.engadget.com/2009/11/17/laptop-reliability-survey-asus-and-toshiba-win-hp-fails/ http://www.pcworld.com/article/244481/desktop_pc_reliability_and_satisfaction_dell_and_hp_home_pcs_get_poor_grades.html
